I hate protests...they look like a bunch of losers

Put on suits or dark uniforms, wear sun glasses, and walk in unison...that will put real fear into whoever you are protesting.

Think Black Panthers.

Uniforms means they will know who to target too.

But I do see the need for something to be able to gauge the number and solidarity of the popele.

Showing emotion is a bad negotiation tactic

Waving pathetic signs, screaming, and crappy clothes is negotiating from a laughingly weak position.

The Black Panthers had it right.

They didn't show emotion when protesting... they showed that they understood their power.

The powers that be do this every day with their suits, limos, security guards, etc.

I'm not saying we accept all Black Panther principles, but we should learn from their effective techniques.

One of the reasons that Ron Paul comes off so effectively is that he is in a suit, speaks with a fair amount of emotional constraint. One of the things that his opponents slandered him about was the oldness/nasalness of his voice. At the third party meeting, Paul was more emotional and thus looked weaker.

I got in many heated debates with meetup leaders about protest effectiveness, but they were just happy with people showing up. People showed up in camos, t-shirts, jeans, shorts, flip-flops, and all sorts of idiotic garb. Their signs were amatuerish. Protestors mostly stood on sidewalks screaming at cars and anyone nearby. I'm sure it felt great, but it was ineffective...and now we have very little to show for it.

We had better learn from this or get used to being limited to internet blogging.

BS! And where are the black

BS! And where are the black panthers now? I refuse to wear the corporate uniform because a bunch of brainwashed sheeple believe it is a sign of wealth and power.

It's Just one more thing that needs to die; class distinction based on how someone dresses...Sigh

If you want to show some real power show up in camo with ak47s now that is power...

Assemble concise talking points.

(Reposting from another thread.)

We need some brief and informed talking points to spread for people to use when calling or writing their representatives. Can anyone help with this or link to existing resources? Remember, these people are busy and you only have time for elevator pitches, not in-depth discussions on Austrian economics.

Where have you been...?

“Dear Senator/Representative:

You MUST reject the Paulson/Bernanke plan for bailing out and propping up reckless banks at taxpayer expense. This is madness to ask us, the taxpayers, to cover the liabilities of Wall Street. We are tired of being fleeced. If you vote to support this plan, I will do everything in my power to remove you from office before you can give away any more of our money to failed businessmen.

Thank you, [Your name]”

Activist Materials:
We have developed a simple one page handout that can be distributed door-to-door or easily handed out to anyone you come across. This handout sums up the current situation, gives a four-step solution to getting our country out of this mess, and includes contact information for people to reach their representatives and senators. It’s designed to get as much information in the hands of as many people as possible as fast as possible.

Get the PDF here: Crisis on Wall Street

The key with the first handout (which we know had an awful lot of info for a one-page handout) is that it exists to get information out there - even if that means just using it as a resource for discussing the topic with other people.

How about the guy in the

How about the guy in the photo with the poster that says "I've got a 4.0 GPA and $90,000 in debt. Where is my bailout?" Either that guy picked the wrong major or there really aren't any jobs to be had. Geeze

...

$90k in debt = loser

A young person should be working around the clock to pay for their education.

Loans for anything, including education, cars, and houses, are for stupid people.

Usury is evil...no debt...ever.

I recently read some history on usury

Remarkable. Perhaps the central issue that undermines economic crime?

I love it!! I missed a

I love it!! I missed a couple today- dang it!!! atleast I got to call and fax numerous times to my reps.

This whole thing is really starting to look fishy

I am really beginning to think they are going to blame a failure to agree on the people and make us seem responsible for the collapse which is emminent one way or the other. The groups involved in these "protests" are too tied-in to the broader agenda to not be part of the show. I don't like it a bit.

mikelawson

I enlarged the pictures to get a better look at there signs, but didn't recognize any group or name of group did you?

mike

please elaborate on your intuitions a little more.

trying to understand where you're going with this before i respond

thanks.

s.tristero----Here's what I think

They have done the math and learned that one way or the other, it's all over. If they pass the bailout package and everything collapses, congress gets the blame, people get mad at the system, you know the rest. But, if they create enough of a sense that the congress is listening to the will of the people and doesn't pass it. Then the people get the blame for the system failing and anyone who is the least bit politically active becomes demonized. It makes enforcement really easy and creates great distrust among the citizenry. Its a perfect way to slip out while while people are arguing (to put it very lightly) amongst themselves.

thanks for sharing mike

that's a very interesting hypothesis

i don't necessarily disagree with it
in fact, only quibbles separate our personal opinions
much too minor to waste time quibbling over

with that said, my response would be:

if you're damned if you do,
damned if you don't,
then anything is possible yes?

couldn't that in a sadistically twisted form of irony be a foundation for freedom?

where are the POLICE??

I didn't see any??? am I wrong, did anyone see any police in the pictures?

there were some

even some undercovers with vid cams

but they were relatively calm & chill & cool (for police that is)

you might find that, on this particular issue,
(some might say the mother of all issues)
you may have compatriots in the most unlikeliest of places

perhaps

one of them even had on a 'united for peace and justice' t-shirt on.

how do i he was undercover?

he had been 'outed' before today :)

Awsome!

LOL I love the sign that says "Jump you f***ers"...
