"Debate" Tonight, 9PM ET

McCain has done another flip-flop and now says he will attend the "debate" between him and Obama after all. Baldwin, Nader and McKinney will not be in attendance.

The daughter of a family friend has been given an assignment to watch the debate, take notes, and write a report on who "wins." She's 12 and attends public school, and her family doesn't have a TV, so she's coming over to our house to watch. So I'll be watching, too.

Check local listings for stations and times in your area. For those of you without TV, congratulations! It looks like you'll be able to catch it over on C-SPAN

From 2003-2007, I didn't have a TV. I signed up with the cable company again late last year for the sole purpose of watching Ron Paul in the debates. It didn't hurt that Verizon gave me a free TV, but now I'm locked into a two year contract. - sigh -

My Observation

IMHO, Senator Obama came out "Looking" and "Sounding" more presidential. Those 2 factors should be irrelevant but they will cement or sway allot of uninformed/ignorant voters.

What was left out of the "debate"?

New thread here: http://www.dailypaul.com/node/64624

The silence is deafening.

I honestly can't...

believe why any of you would even have watched it. We all knew in advance what a farce it was going to be. We all knew they would have nothing intelligent to say, nothing different. Why even bother? I myself refuse to watch/listen to any of "them". But, I would never miss a chance for a true American to speak...such as the good doctor.

Watching the debate gave me some insight into the NWO

For example, both McCain and Obama state that Russia was the aggressor in the Georgian conflict.

Also, both McCain and Obama danced around the Bailout issue but both conceded that they were for it.

Also Obama promises to remove us from Iraq, look for that position to change if he becomes president.

I can't bare it...

my mom and step-dad actually believe there is a significant difference between the two candidates.

And the tax code makes business's do stupid things

Sorry, this was supposed to be a reply to the "corporate tax code" post below, I didn't get it in the right place.

For example, I have a perfectly good backhoe, that rents for 200 bucks a day. It has paid for itself and made about 25,000 more than I paid for it. It is still in great shape, and I could probably keep it another 2 years and make even more on it, and then sell it for 15,000 or so still.

BUT, if I don't sell it this year, (for much less than it is worth), and buy a new one that I really don't need, and finance it so as to have interest payments, then I will get a huge tax increase, because it isn't being depreciated anymore, and I don't have interest payments to deduct. It is the same on all my large items.

In a private market without huge tax burdens, I wouldn't need to do something stupid like this, I could keep the machine and make money.

By the way you are spot on about corps. not paying taxes, I just have to raise my prices enough to cover them, and hope people still use me.

Now get this local craziness, in Alabama there is a tax on rental, but it is a tax that the state says cannot be passed to the consumer, so if I put it on the invoice then I am taxed on the tax. Example: for every 100 dollars I have to pay 6 dollars in rental tax, but if I put that on the invoice I get taxed on 106 dollars instead of 100 dollars, and must then pay 6.36 in tax. So I have to raise my prices to cover this as well.

Thank you Dr. Paul for making my act on what I already knew was right.

The Corporate Income Tax

It is absurd to say that corporations pay any tax. Consumers of their products pay the tax. Moreover, C corporations minimize their tax liability by maximizing their expenses. It's a joke, as is the payroll system. Over the last 30 years the G has taken over personell practices of companies. Free market. What free market. We have corporate socialism or state capitalism.

By the way...

...did you notice strings coming from the ceiling directly above them? I thought I saw a lot of strings.

Ron Paul has taught us so much

4 years ago we would have sucked up all the BS they were debating.
Now that the truth be told, it is a pure joke to even listen to what comes from their mouth.

I refused to watch it

Foreign Policy

These candidates are truly ignorant about foreign policy!

It's just scary to watch their 'loony-tunes approach' to serieus issues in world affairs, knowing that one of these guys might have his finger of the red button soon. Yet, I wonder if these people really believe what they are saying, or maybe they HAVE TO because they need money from various lobbiest in Washington, most notably the zionist lobbies.

They were (of course) sucking up to Israel, but they didn't say a single word about the Palestinians who suffer brutal occupation by the zionists on a daily basis. They were (of course) condemning so called 'Russian agression' but they didn't mention the fact that Georgia launched a brutal military campaign against a mostly civilian population in South-Ossetia well before any Russian tanks crossed the border.

Let me tell you something about the Russians: THEY HAD EVERY RIGHT TO INTERVENE and they did so with a remarkable level of dicipline and caution, especially for Russian standarts. Maybe senator McCain en Obama think that Russia should just sit on his hands when Russian civilians are slaughtered by Georgian soldiers in a indiscriminately fashion.

I was laughing when McCain defended Pakistan and said: "you cannot talk like that" in reference to Obama. Excuse me, mister 'bomb-bomb-bomb Iran'??? Pathetic.

And another thing, McCain started the debate telling that he would cut spending. How does he think he's going to do that if he want's to engage in all these conflicts (100 years in Iraq, continue subsidising Israel, continue threatening Iran, expanding Afghanistan war etcetcetc.) WHERE EXACTELY is he going to cut spending??

And of course the 'wipe-Israel-off-the-map' bullshit was mentioned again, including the good ol' fearmongering tactic of bringing up the Holocaust once again. McCain seemed really obsessed about this. Iran means to him only one thing: Ahmeidinu..uh...jad" and "wipe Israel off the map". Speaking about OBSESSION. Pathetic.

If these are the best politicians your country has to offer for the White House (of course we all know they aren't)..........then...may God help us all!

"Freedom is popular!"

What a waste of 5.5 million

In comedy improv class there's a skill we learn called "expert talker". The idea is sound like an expert about something you know nothing about. I know expert talking when I see it.

It was totally staged

Did you notice they were ripping off facts and figurs and foreign leaders names? Neither one of these guys ever showed they had a photgraphic memory before.

THE DEBATE wasn't a debate it was a SCRIPTED SPEECH!!!

Man was born to be free and independent

be tell you the truth...

...the VP debates will at least be funny in a HA HA way, as opposed to a UH OH way. While Palin is getting ripped by everyone everywhere (and rightly so), anyone paying close attention realizes that perhaps the only one dumber than Palin is Biden.

Either way, the VP debates will be funny and a little easier to take since neither of those clowns will be bale to do anything come January without their masters go ahead.

oh well.

Disgusting

What a disgusting display of CFR propagandist rhetoric. I only recall seeing John McCain look in Barack Obamas direction twice. John McCain was his usual lying piece of shit and condescending dirt bag self. Ron Paul won the debate by default as Mcidiot and Obomba continued to spout there unconstitutional bullshit rhetoric.

Iran Has a Republican Guard?

"If you watched the Presidential debate tonight, one might think so. John McCain spoke about Iran's "Republican Guard" and brought up the Kyl-Lieberman amendment from 2007 to label the Republican Guard a terrorist organizaiton. Barack Obama took a cue from McCain and continued the discussion regarding the "Republican Guard." Someone needs to tell them the Republican Guard was Saddam's military. Iran has the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps."source

exactly!

very good point. Wonder whether any of the "pundits" will pick it up and point it out.

Lowlife's

I had to laugh when McCain admitted a 35 year friendship with Kissinger, you know, the war criminal! Holy smokes, the debate is a joke. I knew it would be. What a bunch of socialist, communist, nazi scumbags. (Is there such a thing?) And the people love it! Barf.....
