Introducing: The Voter Bomb!

Friends,

I've been working on a new website for the past few days, and it is almost ready. As one of 47,000 of my closest friends, I'm letting you in on a little preview: Voter Bomb!. If you have an account here at the DP prior to 9/25, you're all set at the new site - same username & password. Please log in and give it a whirl and let me know what you think. I need your help with testing & feedback. The site is set up on the same model & software as the DP, so you should know what to do. Official launch is set for Monday.

I'll be working on tweaking the details the rest of this weekend. By Monday, I imagine that they'll have passed the bailout bill and we'll have a fresh, raw list of who to vote out of office come November 4th. But the point of the site is to vote out every single incumbent of the entire House of Representatives! All 435 members are up for re-election, as well as 35 US Senators. This is our chance to wipe the slate clean and start anew in 2009 if we can spread the word fast enough before the election.

And don't worry about Dr. Paul - he's not challenged in his district, so he'll be reelected no matter what.

Check out the details of the new site here, and let me know what you think. Feature requests and bug reports appreciated!

I'm going to take a little break now and be back online in a few hours.

It's your fault!!!!!!!!!!!

And mine too...........

"Congress has been so irresponsible for the past 40 years, and it is their fault that we are in the mess we're in today. And yet, year after year, it is we the people who continue to re-elect the incumbents. In fact, Congressional incumbents have a re-election rate of 97%! In fact, it is not the Congress that is at fault, it is we the people who have been irresponsible. We can, and must, take the country back - peacefully and non-violently - with our votes."

Awesome Michael. Thank you

Awesome Michael. Thank you thank you thank you!

Puppets come and puppets go but the world's stage is getting cluttered.

The voter bomb DPers!!!!

I expected this thread to get some TRACTION. What's up?

We could simplify the process...

Do what I've always done. I never ever vote for any incumbent. (But your Web site idea sounds great!)

List of incumbents in the House

I think Michael's idea has legs. Just think of what we have accomplished this past 18 months.

No Incumbents 2008

You say you want a revolution?

"There is an urgency in what we do. We are carrying the banner. As a group we now have a greater moral responsibility to act than those who live in ignorance. Once you become knowledgeable, you have an obligation to do something about it." Ron Paul

There are a few incumbents who do deserve to stay in DC.....

Ron Paul kinda comes to mind.....Kucinich....the thorns in the sides of their respective party elites.

"..... the point of the site is to vote out every single incumbent of the entire House of Representatives! All 435 members are up for re-election, as well as 35 US Senators."

I haven't had time to look at the new site, but the objective is political music to my ears. I can not agree more. Electing liberty minded people, as stated below is a great idea also, but the members of Congress who have kept their seats election after election HAVE TO GO. How could anyone who has been paying attention think otherwise?

Our elected officials have betrayed the voters over and over. They continually put party loyalty first and have allowed themselves to be bullied into misguided voting or sadly even having their votes bought. This can no longer be ignored or rewarded. If we continue to reelect them, then we become complicit in this charade of upholding the law of the land. WE BECOME ACCOMPLICES.

With the worst 8 years in history of violating the Constitution, the robbing and looting of the taxpayers, the obscenity of our sacred rights being taken away, with lobbyists all but writing legislation, and voter confidence down to 12%, (9% percent at one time), perhaps finally, now will be the time that the people will start to fire them. And if the newly elected member of Congress finds himself intimidated by the old timers, and violates his oath of office, than he/she also deserves to lose his job upon his reelection cycle.... Only candidates with steel backbones need apply.

Just think of it. No longer would the smell of betrayal permeate the halls of Congress.

Not only vote them out...

But MAKE SURE we don't vote for the same trash pail but with different garbage!

Another point I would like to make is.....since most ofl these "retirees" will have made extremely good salaries off the American citizens that they have looted over the years, why not get rid of their "golden parachutes" that allows them to retire in wealth and comfort?

I'm sure if there were someone who could do a little research on this, the findings would be rather shocking to say the least.

How, I wonder does the servant make a salary that far exceeds that of most of their masters - us?

"Bad men cannot make good citizens. It is when a people forget God that tyrants forge their chains. A vitiated state of morals, a corrupted public conscience, is incompatible with freedom." Patrick Henry

Intro page suggestions

I like the nice clean intro page. My suggestion would be to make it a little more patriotic - not for Daily Paul members, but for the general public.

A nice faint background image of the U.S. flag or the Constitution would be better overall for the general public, even though I like the current style.

I also recommend changing, "...remind them who they used to work for!" to just, "...remind them who they work for!"

Ron Paul's Convention Speech

Thanks Michael.

Thanks Michael.

Downsize DC

Coincidentally, I received a pamphlet just yesterday from Downsize DC describing their approach to reach similar goals by using organized email and phone call bombardment, coupled with education on the topic of interest. As we all know, voting an incumbent out of office can be next to impossible and at best inefficient.

The voter bomb is a great idea and I plan to participate, but both approaches would be good to use in conjunction.

Go to http://www.downsizedc.org/, get on their emailing list today. They are a fantastic organization and support Ron Paul style politics, as the name implies.

Great site, 3rd party voting poll just added

I added a 3rd party voting poll, hope that is okay Michael. Go to:

http://www.voterbomb.com/2008/node/23

Limited choices...

Everybody likes a poll, but could you add the option for "Other", or NOTA, or my choice: "Not sure but it will definitely be 3rd party!".

thanks!

Sure can...

Sorry about that. I am not even sure if Michael wants this on his new site yet, hopefully he will let it stay.

Interesting idea!

Interesting idea!

...

No.... Great idea!

Thanks!

Great Idea, I just have one

Great Idea, I just have one problem with this. Don't you think new members of Congress will be easier to scare into voting for bad legislation? Plus there are some members of Congress that are good besides Dr. Paul (Walter Jones, Dennis Kucinich, etc.). I assume you won't try to vote out the few good ones remaining, right?

At any rate, it is a great idea to cleanse Congress, afterall their approval rating is substantially low. Come to think of it, I'd imagine most of them will be voted out anyway :)

Interesting point

I agree that new members might be more easily intimidated.

And furthermore, I don't the think solution is just voting 'new' people into office.
The problem is a philosophical one: the great majority of the public adhere to the ideologies of conservatism and liberalism.

I'm afraid Michael's strategy is just going to replace the current libs and cons with new ones.

The real solution is to elect pro-liberty (ie. libertarians) people into office.

Yes, fantastic idea!

Here's another awesome site which goes right along with this:
http://throwthemout.com/ It gives the US House Report Card and the US Senate Report Card, with summaries of the bills and whether they voted with or against the Constitution on that piece of legislation. I will forward the VOTER BOMB site so they can link us.

NICE!!

LOVE IT! good work dude!

Not quite sure how to put this

I'm hoping the new site is something that I could share with my "politically detached email buddies" (I'm sure some of you have them, they usually send the jokes, generic political jabs, prayers, etc. and wouldn't know Ron Paul from a hole in the wall) without them thinking "Oh, the poor thing has fallen into the fringes of society, she's gone off the deep end, I won't be forwarding that one on." Anyway, if it could be crafted in such a way that it would get the attention of those kinds of people, I think it would have a huge impact. This whole bailout thing has created a buzz among people who never paid attention before and this would be a great way for them to feel like they're getting involved without being considered fringe and (God forbid) getting TOO involved. Anyone agree?

Personally...

I think it is a great site, and your friends will probably like it.
