Why vote for Chuck Baldwin?
I normally vote for the Libertarian Party candidate, no matter who it is, because I believe voting for the LP candidate is a statement of the pro-liberty message.
However, this year I'm finally coming around to seeing the logic in the argument that the LP needs to learn to not nominate boneheads like Bob Barr. This can happen only by having even loyal libertarians not vote for the LP candidate this year. I have no way of knowing whether Barr's conversion to libertarianism was authentic, and, since he won't win, it really doesn't matter. The LP candidate is always just a figurehead - a name that is required to be there on the ballot next the name of the party. But Barr's inability to grasp the reality of the 3rd party situation, and recognize and appreciate the point and brilliance of Ron Paul's attempt to build a 3rd party alliance united against 2-party dominance, is just too much. So despite voting LP every election since 1988, almost certainly not this year for me. I never want to see the LP make a mistake like that again.
But I still fail to see the point in voting for Chuck Baldwin. What message does that send, and to whom?
