Question about locally own banks vs credit unions

0 votes

Hi everyone,

I currently bank with Wachovia and in the wake of what has happened not only this past week, but specifically with yesterday's 'for sale' sign on their window, I'm hope some of you will be able to educate me on the merits or lack there of, of switching to either a locally owned/operated bank or a credit union. I live in the Hampton Roads area of VA and we have a few credit unions to choose from including Navy Federal. What are your thoughts on this?

You should read the writings of Catherine Austin Fitts - in particular her piece on what she calls 'tapeworm economics,' and 'Where would Jesus Bank?"

Catherine is a genius and has a lot to say about how we are, in fact, financing the very things we are against by keeping our money in major banks. There is a lot of information on how to 'come clean' and find small local banks with integrity.

The way I see it - banks are out to make money for stock holders - credit unions are out to make money for their members, and unfortunatly lend them money, but I dont borrow, as the borrower is slave to the lender!(anyone - let me know if I'm wrong concerning banks and credit unions!)

I did, but it doesn't answer my question. At least not that I've found thus far.
