Older people remember the great FDR saving them during the Great Depression. Unfortunately, they didn't understand that they were being screw then and they don't now.

The media is pushing this thing very hard. It is only Cavuto and Beck that give alternate perspectives. So if they don't see anything else they won't think about alternatives. It takes people that want to investigate what is going on to actually see alternatives and be able to think thru the possibilities. Too bad most people just aren't interested educating themselves.

Besides, the NFL is on, don't distract them from what makes them smile.

I do share your pain. I have the same issues with my family (except my brother in jail for med pot ) Even my friends will just roll over to "whatever" I have 1 Ron Paul friend nearby (who is very busy with 3 kids so I do'nt want to bug her too much) Other friends of mine have gotten mad really mad because I tried to tell them simply tell them the federal reserve was not "federal" Actually 1 I just asked if they knew how the fed worked and she said I was talking down to her. She said she loved America and she's a republican and is enjoying her life riding ,showing, and selling ($25,000)Horses and getting free dental care because she does'nt make enough money? OH and I need to find places to get REAL facts like SNOPES . com I have been trying not to cry all day.

I don't think the rest of my family is. My nephew rudely told me off several months ago regarding some of these issues. Now, I copy my brother occasionally but not usually. I am sorry your dad said such hurtful things. Wow. I couldn't imagine talking to my grown son that way.

My advice is don't give up, just keep plugging away, eventually they will break down and realize some of what you tell them. I am going through the same things with my family.

my family to about the half way point and I've been working on it for over a year now. They are at least to the point of starting to prepare for bad times like storing water and food and they tried to grow food this year and it didn't come out so good for them I don't even know if they got one thing to eat out of the garden. I'm glad they are at least to this point. that media machine is good at making people seem like a threat and its very weird that it is so strong it can even make a parent question the loyalty of a son or a daughter. Its powerful stuff for sure. Don't give up on them all together all these people are making mistakes its just a matter of them doing it when your parents are watching. hang in there I'll put your situation in my prayers this week.

i don't have a dad or mother to convince i'm 66 yrs old but my kids are listening...i'm greatful for that...but other folks in my family...are not as fortunate to listen and this is a problem we all have so we are in the boat with you...there was a time i thought the government had my interests in mind but after Kennedy got assasinated..i had a gut feeling something was wrong...later in the 60's i started reading the John Birch Society material and i listened to a preacher on am radio about how we were being manipulated by our government and the elite..his saying was "you'll wonder where the yeller went" talking about our gold...and he came against rockefeller and the bankers big time...wish i could remember his name..i lived in wentzville mo. at the time. So i have been at this for many years and before now...no one wanted to listen..some folks are just now seeing something is wrong. but my advice to you is just hang in there and i guarentee somewhere along the way they will cross the line and everyone will wake up...may be too late but it is coming. take care and continue hanging out with those hoodlums and us hoodlums too..lol

for a good long while or does he think they will be back again for another trillion-dollar bandaid in a few weeks. Ask him how many of these bailouts will be too many. Ask him what level of taxation would be too high a price. Ask him if everything the government bills us for is really necessary. Ask him if there is a chance the government will use this money to bail out large Chinese or Arab investors in the US economy. Let him give you the seed of doubt that you can water and cultivate.

Of course if he has no doubts at all, I guess you will have tried in vain.

he sounds partisan, as my dad is, but my dad is scratching his head over what is happening with the neo-cons...he still hasn't grasped it all yet. he is a conservative.

The Federal Reserve Act, Illegal wars, Brenton-woods breakdown, CRA, NAFTA, Patriot Act, FISA and now the bailout ALL can be explained by the plutocratic theory.

Give him Pat Buchanan's book Day of Reckoning and also give him Naomi Wolf's End of America. Tell him that these folks are fundamentally American in principle but they come from the far right and the far left. After reading both, he will realize that they have the same talking points.

Most of all, just be there with your loaf of bread when he needs it, which I'm sure you will.
