We know this bill was wrong, but we also knew the alternative. Everyone please get ready for some difficult times ahead. This decision has sent shockwaves through the markets and will probably result in the scenario Paulson threatened.
As I type, I'm hearing the battle drums against Iran starting already. Please get ready folks. This is not going to be pretty.

I could stand to lose some weight:
As I have been telling my children about history and that things may be getting a little tough. We might all be eating beans and rice and whatever else we can manage, but I could lose some weight anyway. So could many others I'm sure.
I have watched and listened to the jokes from Leno about how fat Americans have gotten and in reality, many of us have. Perhaps if we have to go a little hungry and our kids learn some respect for what they have, we will lose some of the problems that come along with our children getting diabetes and other things. But I am also a firm believer that as a proud American and patriot, I can do anything, suffer anything, and still stand up strong to those that will try to take what isn't theirs to take. I am proud of everyone that took the time and fought for them to listen this time and we need to stay on our toes with all that they do. So that we deserve better than they have given us as we get the government we deserve. NO More Apathy.

The FED dumped another 600+ Billion dollars into the international market today ("just in case" the bill failed I suppose)
So - in the end we only saved 1/7th of the inflation and the addition to the debt. I guess those foreign banks needed their money no matter what!

This is a blow to the military industrial complex. It hurts the balance sheets of the most exploitative people. Even if the politicians eventually get a bailout vote through, let us keep fighting as long as possible. Every week they spend in Washington is a week they aren't campaigning. You present this as if there is a choice to a financial meltdown. The financial meltdown is going to happen, the question was if we shove a $700B for a few more meal tickets to the financial fraudsters.
It wasn't either / or because the bill couldn't fix the unfixable problems:

unaudited federal reserve

There are difficult times ahead NO MATTER WHAT.
This "bailout" bill would just delay the inevitable (and only for a short time) and in the end it will make the downturn even longer and far, far WORSE.
There are provisions in this bill that would act as wage & price controls (specifically "rent control") which will cause widespread problems with housing... not to mention how it would further TOTALLY FUBAR the banking and credit situation.

Ron Paul has said
that we are in for hard times while the bubble deflates, but he warned that it would be a lot harder for a lot longer if they succeeded in passing the bailout, because then the WHOLE house comes down when the currency collapses. No matter how tough things might get, just remember, it will be worse if, in addition, there were trillions of dollars of more debt than there is now.

Don't worry...
They'll be back with something very similar, and will blackmail, coerce, etc. the majority into voting for it.
This was just a small, short lived victory today, but does show that mass emails and phone calls to your reps can have a little effect sometimes.

My Rep wants to save the country
and it's jobs so he wanted a provision whereas Wall Street could not make money off from the bailout. ??????
