Zeitgeist Addendum - Not Relevant?

I watched this again tonight........

Looking at how things seem to be about to go....world fiat currency due to collapse (dollar/derivitives) or a outside chance of possible sound money (commodity based) after much uprising and friction coming from the R3volution :o)

Is is too soon to suggest to a (non-egotistic) resourse based economy as a third option?

Of course, it would mean that we would need to completely change our motives from personal benefits (wants) to mass co-operation (needs) at a global grassroots level.

COMPLETELY IMPOSSIBLE.

We should most definately focus on getting back to the original small version of government that we had, combined with absolute sound money and free markets. That way its a REAL change and would not be at risk of History even having a slim chance to repeat itself.

Perhaps...........with some luck one will lead to the next - much like the audit will bring about the END of the FED.

Sat back and watched it with my family, had many great discussions with my friends. Great film.

You'll notice a number of our paranoid DP members, conza88, etc have gone into attack mode, just like the movie said they would. True freedom is a change to the current system. Change will be blocked by a variety of individuals, even some who call themselves patriots. The elite will first sit back and watch these ignorant cowboys defend their system. Once they are defeated, they will move on us.

There's nothing new in it.
I'm amazed that some seem to want to ascribe some sort of significance to this movie, as if it were some sort of "watershed event in philosophy" or some other such nonsense.

A simple synopsis is that the first part is telling us why he thinks things are no good, and the second part is telling us how the film-maker fantasizes about he thinks things "should be".

Simple as that. Nothing to really get alarmed about. And certainly nothing that any rational person would build a world-view around.

The basic thing in this movie is that it uses some factual matter in the beginning to try to lead you into taking the fantasy end seriously.
I could write another movie with the same beginning, and then transition into a scenario where we would all plant magic beans and then live on the tops of giant beanstalks in harmony forever too.
It's a typical leftist "Wouldn't it be great if..." kind of ending, meant to appeal to the "touchy-feely" emotionally-driven mentality.
The entire fantasy end part should have been left out of the movie, because it serves no useful purpose, and only clouds a movie that had some good information in the first part..

Some worry that it will damage the impressionable- cause them to stay home election day and practice sitting on ass. Others feel that the GOOD parts are enough to out weigh the campy, far-fetched rainbows & ponies Jetson's- meet- Hippie commune scenario suggested would be the by-product. No doubt the history and state of the present IS valuble in getting a grasp on what we are up against. To me for that reason it is worth passing on to friends. Id say "Im embarassed by half of it- but it contains some really good info". If YOU are the kind of person that would LOVE to live in harmony without the crap you see around you- start doing this yourself in your own home. Dont wait around for mankind to attain a certain level of consciousness and be all pissed that people disagree with you. BE the change you seek.

I think Addendum has impacted me more than the original Zeitgeist Movie for some reason. I guess it will take a couple days to fully digest. During the last scenes where the actors drop their briefcases, cell phones, and religious paraphernalia, I could feel my chest getting full and my heart opened up to the wonderful possibilities. I imagined what it would be like to exist in joy and freedom without the chains of financial and political slavery and it felt wonderful.

My only qualm about their resolutions to our problems is that it takes MONEY. To "get off the grid," to stop feeding the system . . . it all takes money and people just don't have it. It's a beautiful thought, though. Perhaps my children and grandchildren will live to see it all happen.

in the 1st part but got a little out there as the movie progressed. Kinda get the point they were trying to make but humanity as a whole would have to simotaniously cooperate to pull off such a utopia. We ca'nt even get one small state to cooperate with itself. Why ca'nt everyone have there religions ect.. and not push it on others or judge others. Just do no harm.

They were talking about no money system but they did mention how smart someone was was beneficial. So thier would be a status quo. I sure would'nt use the movie to try and wake anybody up with it as an intended solution. (except the monetary and historical parts) Disappointed. Needs Major editing to be taken seriously.
If you just want to use for futuristic entertainment it's ok. But that would be a HUGE leap and not sure in the right direction.

This movie blew my mind. Very straightforward explanation of how the fed and the entire monetary system as a whole is run. As for the religious discussion, I thought it was done gently enough to maybe free some people from these indoctrinated institutions that restrict sometimes an individuals ability to be truly free mentally. I read posts below saying that this is communism and world government disguised as freedom but I disagree completely. The Venus Project advocates less laws and more individual freedom by removing the servitude slavery that comes with this made up institution called the monetary system. It also advocated no ruling elite or government with excessive powers. So how could that be viewed as communist? Also, for those who just can't get past their own ego or fake perception of their own false identity, wake up! Collectivism in the form of love and equality and knowledge is the true meaning of life and I don't care if that souds new agey or not. There is nowhere in the film that says you will be punished if you choose to believe in a particular religion. The point about religion was that it has produced very negative effects on the entire world contrary to what religion is supposedly supposed to promote. As for technology, everyone must accept the fact that just about all the technologies we use came from the collective conscience that so many here are scared of. All of our human knowledge has come from others discovering the truth through trial and error. A caveman eats a berry from a tree and dies. Another caveman who sees this realizes that the berry is not good to eat and informs others. That is collective thinking and knowledge. If you don't want to be connected to your fellow human and love your ego so much, then I suggest you start from scratch in the woods with zero technology or knowledge of edible plants, and then see how much you can do with out suffering and dying in the process.

This was a well produced look at the present and recent past through an anti-establishment lens and a look at the future through a pro-technology and pro-atheist lens.

No doubt there will be plenty in this to disturb everyone from their own vantage point, and I'd hesitate to condone any of it. But it's definitely interesting and provocative, like really good science fiction.

Even better explanation of the Fed system than the first. You can choose to believe what you will about your faith and religion but to deny the first part of this movie is insane.
