Do you believe the captain? Do you believe the crew? These are the people that ignored the warning signals and willfully charted the course toward destruction. Are they going to save you? Us?
Will Washington put your interests above their special interests? Who do you look up to with a greater mind than yours? Bush, Paulson, Bernanke, McCain, Obama, Dodd, Reid, Pelosi, Frank, Laurel, Hardy?
By their deeds you shall know them. They are committed to saving the "too-big-to-fails" while leaving the "too-small-to-save" to save themselves.
Know where the exits are. Make sure you can find your way to the lifeboats. Understand that at a certain point, the hatches will be closed, and under the "rules" of government, only first class passengers will have guaranteed seats.
Psychotic September
The pillars of America's financial system were destroyed when the Twin Towers were toppled on 9/11.
The foundation of America's free market capitalism were destroyed when an Economic 9/11 took out Merrill Lynch, Lehman Brothers and A.I.G. ... the world's largest investment banks, brokerages and insurance companies. Yet, despite the deafening sound, when the biggest bank failure in US history happened several days later, it barely made the headlines that Washington Mutual, with 2,300 branches and $310 billion of assets, had gone under.
As we write this, Wachovia, the sixth largest bank in the US, is being gobbled up by the imperiled Citigroup.

Today the Dow plunged 778 points.

We should plan
but NOT expect the worst. After all, here on dailypaul, we have been planning on this all along - just not knowing when it would come.
We can grow and be prosperous even in times like these - we must learn to live within our means and START THINKING AGAIN.
We must turn on our brains and be creative and become producers. Ayn Rand's book, Atlas Shrugged brings all this to light - when consumers outnumber the producers and expect it to be forever thus.
Become a Producer - one who produces more than they consume. Produce a service or commodity others would be interested in buying or trading services for.
No money, don't buy! It's that simple and a way of life I've always lived. Kids got caught up in "i want it now and don't care how I pay for it" and charge cards being sent to kids just out of high school and starting college - WITH NO JOBS. (knowing Mom & Dad would bail them out, if needed)
They had NO IDEA what they were getting into, just saw "only $10 per month" promise and they thought they could have it all!
They learned the hard way, but they learned.

It's 11:44 EDST. Would you suggest a Walmart run right now for more food, or can it wait until tomorrow?
Current supply of food is at 6-8 months for a family of 4.
I would do it tonight.
I am here to tell you, if you have the money, you need to buy food, you may not have a house, you may not have fancy clothes, but you can eat. Dont forget, the bottled water and things like asprin, toilet paper ect. It cant hurt. I would go tonight. If something major happens who knows how bad it will get? These bastards will tell us how great it is until we realize there is no hope. You can bet they've got there escape plans and they dont include the common folk.
