U.S. Rep. Gerlach (PA) is coming to visit my company in two hours (2:00 EDT)

I am going to thank him for standing up for taxpayers and voting against the bailout bill, and I'll ask him for his reasons he did so. But in speaking with one of his staffers yesterday, I got the sense that he was waffling and might support the next version of the bill.

If I get 30 seconds with him, what should I tell him to keep him on track? There are so many reasons that this bailout is bad, it's hard to come up with the one or two most compelling ideas.

1) Vote NO on bailouts.

2) Vote to KEEP Fair Value Accounting. (The paper-pushers are looking to change mark-to-market "fair value" accounting to allow companies to use mark-to-maturity "mark-to-myth" "mark-to-dream".)

I heard that the mark-to-market accounting was undervaluing assets, which caused companies to look worse than they were, which caused their devaluation. I guess the source I read was talking about the banks that went sour. Can you explain your position in more detail? I want to make sure I understand it before I talk to Rep. Gerlach.

Tell him that the overwhelming majority of "we the people"

simply don't want it..that should be enough of a reason right there. If he cares about keeping his job...he better vote "NO"
