Much Better

Plus it has an action alert - now we are getting somewhere.

My windows security

just warned me that the security certificate doesn't jive, and recommends not going to it. What's up with that. That almost never happens...

I called them

They are working on the issue as we speak.

Anyone here like the old design better?

I think it had more pizazz. This one seems a little dull.

Plus, anyone else notice that C4L graphic is not very crisp?
They should get its quality improved.

After surfin' the site for a few mins...

Ya, I must say that I find it drab and dreary. Not a good move by the web page editor.
It has a "low-grade" quality feel to it...

New site!

Okay, pretend this text is in really, really small type, because I want to say this quietly. So turn down the volume on your DP reader.

I have to admit, I'm not thrilled with the C4L redesign. As far as layout and design, it looks rather blah, like so many other boring sites. A little chunky with text and not much flair as far as color and design go. I also don't see "lots of new features" and miss things that are gone, such as the Community page and the brief Mission Statement page. It was great to be able to point people to that "C4L in a nutshell explanation;" now it's gone. Glad I have that mission statement already printed up on my own C4L business cards that I had made.

It would certainly be helpful to have a little more detail about what it means to be a Precinct Leader for the C4L. There is a basic outline there, but not much depth.

While I understand the need for fundraising, it would have been nice if they had "grandfathered" in all members previous to 10/1/08, or at least grandfathered in those who have donated to C4L prior to today. That would have been a classy "thank you" to early supporters who helped to build the C4L's base.

Of course, I'll continue to support the C4L, and once there's a little more explanation (and security!) for becoming a Precinct Leader, I'll do that too (again!). But I don't feel the "excitement" with the current design that I did with the former. Kind of...well...yawn.

Okay, you may now turn your DP volume back up.

ok

here's what it is. The CFL is going to have an organized structure, like a party. You are going to have access to a database of voters and other members and contact support, as well as issue info, all times. There are going to be specific goals for precinct captains, at the early stage, mostly recruitment. Eventually, there will be election of local campaign leaders, specifically county and state co-ordinators. Each person over time will have a clearly defined set of responsibilities for education, recruitment, and direct political action. Strategies and allocation of funds will be voted on.

Thanks, John

Is that information you yourself just happened to know, or is that available on the C4L site?

I saw no such explanation there, and should think that before folks slap down their cash, they should know more about what it is they're getting into.

Perhaps I just missed a link or button there?...

And you're right, that it isn't about flash and dazzle, it's about content. Still, content can be provided in a tailored fashion that is yet more pleasing to the eye (and therefore more memorable). Just a word from the Peanut Gallery.

Looks like some armature

Looks like some armature worked on it for 5 hours.

don't let the graphics fool you

Fortune Favors the Bold

this isn't about flash. It's an organizational tool for a long term effort. Alot of the work was designing that organizational structure.

bump

i'm a little concerned that their encryption isn't secure yet, gonna wait for the precinct leader thing for that- but the free accounts are available

I called C4L

They are working on it as we speak :-) For now, just hold off until you see the "locked" padlock appear in your browser to indicate the site is secure.

It costs $35 to be a precinct leader

Which since we spent several hundred to become the ACTUAL precinct leader, we just don't have it to spend any more. I just can't say how disappointed I am with this "grand opening."

Truth exists, and it deserves to be cherished.

There's a good reason for that

think a minute

Fortune Favors the Bold

In other words

Fortune Favors the Bold

alot of the precinct leaders didn't do anything. They only want people becoming precinct leaders if they actually will commit to the assignments. Hence they need to have some amount of money required (also so that saboteurs will be less likely to sign up to distort the campaign infrastructure)

Fortune Favors the Bold

Another reason

This is a private organization. Dues are very common in private organizations. While anyone can join and get emails, only dues paying members will have a vote on issues before the organization.

If you can't afford the 35 bucks, no one will shut you out. You can still volunteer and help out. Just contact your precinct leader and let them know you want to help.

In some cases, if you really want to be a precinct leader but can't afford it, someone may be willing to help you with the money.
