The first vote he was against the bailout. The 2nd time he introduced the new bailout bill and voted for it. NOW he's been running ads in AZ saying he opposed the bailout & holds firm to his principles. Funny thing is, he seems to be the only candidate that has any money to advertise...

Keep calling folks, we need to keep them in line. Make sure they know they are being watched. Let's also get them to think about having a competing dollar against the paper debt generated FRN.

What if the government was unable to sell more Treasury bills? What if China and Japan began to sell? Wouldn't the Treasury be forced to mint money? Then we would have a commodity backed currency, although copper isn't my idea of the best, it is still better than paper debt.
Seems to me that if we want to take power away from the elite who benefit from the Federal government, then people need to stop holding and investing in T-bills and put wealth in their own bank. An investment in T-bills empowers the elitists controlling the Federal government. Remember T-bills are just paper, just like FRNs. Withdrawling our investment is their biggest fear. Holding onto T-bills locks up dollars as they say. I suggest investing in something other than T-bills such as your local economy, food, supplies, silver and gold. These items stimulate our economy and the individual is empowered. But, what the hell do I know?

Gerlach, who barely squeaked through in the last three elections, is a top target of Democrats this year and has to carefully calibrate his position. This year, he faces a tough re- election battle in a district that has about as many registered Democrats as Republicans, and contains financial-services companies such as Valley Forge-based fund manager Vanguard Group Inc., as well as thousands of middle-class, white-collar voters.

Overnight Shift

After the vote, Gerlach said, phone calls into his office shifted overnight from overwhelming opposition to a bailout to majority support. As of yesterday afternoon, the calls were 2-to- 1 in support of congressional action, he said. The reaction of constituents in districts such as Gerlach's gives a better chance of passage for the bailout plan, which may be brought to a vote in the House tomorrow.

Gerlach said he opposed the original plan because it was ``hastily crafted'' and threatened to ``saddle taxpayers'' with debt. He said he is reconsidering because the new legislation contains more taxpayer protections, increased federal insurance of banking deposits, tax cuts, and greater congressional oversight.

``It's a scary, scary thing,'' he said. ``We can't afford to go through this situation again.''

He was quoted on Bloomberg---

Oct. 2 (Bloomberg) -- Representative James Gerlach of Pennsylvania was one of 135 Republican lawmakers who scuttled a $700 billion bank rescue three days ago. Yesterday, he found himself trying to explain why he is now leaning toward supporting a measure much like the one he opposed.

``The bill is becoming a much better bill,'' he said at a town-hall meeting of employees of Weston Solutions Inc., a West Chester-based environment and redevelopment company."

This bill is being forced upon the congress by the very same bankers who got us into this mess in the first place. The Federal Reserve System is attempting to reduce the reserve requirement to ZERO with this bill! Do you realize what you are doing??

Vote NO on the bailout. This is the most socialistic proposal ever to cross your desk and you waiver on whether or not you should vote YEA. What kind of a Republican are you? Ever heard of Capitalism?

Are you scared of your colleagues blaming you for the crisis afterward? Are you trying to go along to get along?

Grow a spine and vote with your conscience and your heart. Vote with INTEGRITY. You are the voice of the people and you are our last hope. We have spoken, now its up to you to decide what kind of man you are.

I just sent each of them two - one to their D.C. office and one to their local office.

Just tried to email Sen Gordon Smith and got a server error message. Is this a sign that we are being effective, or is this a sign that the opposition has found a way to keep us out? Also, I attempeted to contact Rep Defazio by phone. Voicemail box was full every time I tried. Sen Wyden's number just rings and rings. Sen Smith's number went straight to a recording that my call could not be connected as dialed. I have all three of these numbers on my speed dial and have been leaving messages on this twice a day for over a week.

Let's keep at it until this battle is over, then move on to the next one.

It is so disheartening to battle these shenanigans.

Isn't it amazing that of the 200+ that voted for the bill, none of them have come to there senses and changed their mind to now go against it. It's always talk of convincing the ones who didn't vote for it, like they finally saw the light. Kinda like when my kids ask me for the same thing for the hundredth time. What a bunch of vultures. I feel like busting someone's #ss! Starting with Barney Fake.
