Could be the worst Depression ever, nevermind take Jewish Holiday
Submitted by JUSTCOMEHOME on Wed, 10/01/2008 - 15:19
Does anyone else think it's odd that they are saying this is the most important economic situation of our times and that action needs to be taken place and a Jewish holiday supercedes that?

Really?!? How naive are
Really?!? How naive are you? You are implying that Jews specifically are to blame for all this? I love that! I love how somehow we are always put into the mix with any noteworthy moment in history. It ceases to end. I just love it.
He said "jewish holiday"...
Because that's all the news was saying... And none of us athiests, or probably most of the Christians have any idea WHAT jewish holiday it is and so just repeated the way the news put it...
At least that was my take on it...
Just meant that ANY holiday should not have taken precedence, especially considering that most of the reps involved are likely not even jewish.
I don't mean to speak for JUSTCOMEHOME. It's just my viewpoint on what he said.

Well, I think it's stupid
Well, I think it's stupid for anyone to rationalize that something is more important than thinking through what they think is the best decision for a crisis. I agree with that completely. That's a great thing to point out, though kinda obvious. I was really reacting to the way the post is written, specifically that person was saying the coincidence seemed "odd." I could care less really. I just find the outlandish conspiracy idea so amusing. Well, I guess there is some annoyance but that has nothing to do with me being jewish or having any feeling of insult. That's what I mean by I could really care less. But I do react I guess to the stupidity of outlandish ideas that most conspiracies are.
You are right about conspiracies.
And after re-reading it, I can't tell if my original assumption was correct or if there was something else being implied.
But I tend to give the benefit of the doubt, however, there have been what I would consider bizarre anti-semetic(sp) threads that pop-up in here from time to time.
I mean, I am an athiest surrounded by a country of Christians which means by definition, all the bad stuff that happens by Christians colluding, I could easily blame on their religion/conspiracy, but I leave them alone... :)
But I will say this. It is hard, I mean REALLY hard for people to shake the labels and various animosities that have been built into our system by those which seek to keep us eternally divided.
One of the reasons that the bailout didn't just sail through congress is because, we fought, JBS fought, DailyKOS fought, Nader fought, etc. We are all fundamentally different, but for one single issue, we all united.

Any holiday
More to the point, in my opinion, is that if this was such an economic crisis, no holiday should have interfered with the business at hand.
Not sure if the origional poster was implying any sort of conspiracy, but on the point of a holiday break during a time of so-called 'national crisis', I would have to agree.
I just wish
they would all go home and never come back.
Haha, okay, um if the jewish
Haha, okay, um if the jewish holiday could create everyone to go home, I couldn't be prouder to be jewish. By the way, the holiday is the jewish new year. According to "us," the year is 5769. I'm not sure which one is stupidier, the "christian" calendar or the jewish calendar.
As to the previous post, I agree that thinking up a more important thing to do than focusing on a crisis in whatever capacity you choose is moronic.
LOL
I didn't even think about that. So true. Congress apparently doesn't "do" overtime.
It's weird
How a Jewish holiday overrides everything.
How the Federal Reserve was Enacted
The Federal Reserve was enacted because the opposition (christians) went home for Christmas, before that it was voted down!

I would think that he would be a sad excuse even if you were queer! He is not a shining example of either representative government or I would assume gay culture.

I am constantly amazed at
I am constantly amazed at just how many "christians" really show the "love of christ" while they are so eager to throw stones. Perhaps that is one reason I find the vast majority of christians objectionable...their so-called "testimony" is rancid and corrupt, all white and clean on the outside but full of dead men's bones and every unclean thing inside their hearts, hidden away from public view. To such examples of christianity I say thanks, but no thanks.

Ummm...
Gay men and women are not perverts. I am assuming you mean pervert as having illegal or sexual appetites that are not consensual. In that case - Catholic Priests and Born Again Ministers are, if you think about it.

Not Born Again
Maybe some who claim to be born again, but if one is truly born again they would not be queer or perverts.
Some claim to be born again just as many congressmen/women and senators claim to be representatives for the people.

You wear dentures?
Why'd I always picture you younger...????

I'm not sure why you would picture me as younger, but I appreciate it. I have lived through the Administrations of 11 Presidents. However, I really don't wear dentures...I have my own choppers, but I did think it was good for a laugh!
