Submitted by savingmykidsfuture on Wed, 10/01/2008 - 16:41
Just heard his presentation on CSpan--talk about a guy we need to stick behind
He needs to beech slap some sense into some of the others
{{{{standing ovation for Bernie}}}}

Title Change
Bernie is not a (R), he is a (I) - but really a (S) (as in Socialist). He's right on some issues, though, as his vote shows.
He also knows that there are some issues he best not mess with. For example, even though a liberal state, VT sure loves their guns!
Oh, and
VT's other sentator, Patrick Leahy, voted FOR the bailout. He is the Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
We need a strong Constitutional person to challenge him when he is up for election (2010 or 2012 - not sure). The Repubs never seriously run anyone against him.
I watched him on Cavuto
I watched him on Cavuto today and he made some very good points. The one I totally agree with him on was not letting the middle class pay any more but I disagree with him on raising taxes on the rich. Vermont receives third party and independent candidates with open arms, since it's a small state I think we could try our luck there.
Sen. Lindsey Graham Sucks
He is on Cspan right now.
It is really easy to pick out the rats from the real leaders throughout this whole event.
Come on now...
Apparently many of you do not know Bernie Sanders (I) of Vermont is a self-admitted Socialist. Come on now do some homework.

Ditto that Dude, I`ve seen him in action before
HYDROMAN
"Since 1789 the only government on Earth that has the power to crush the American people`s liberties across the board is the government of the United States"
Robert Higgs
It's amazing
that when a self-avowed socialist speaks, he makes most other members of the Senate sound like the socialists in the room!
socialism?
in theory, a comforting concept. in practice, well we know.
but sanders is a man of principle like kucinich. what his "colleagues" are really? fascists. fascism is socialism with shareholders.
so, i can cut sanders some slack......
Ditto that one
Sanders may be a 'socialist' like Kucinich, and I may not agree with such an ideology, but right now, these folks are witnessing crimes up front just like we did at our conventions. They see what they are up to. Its OK to join forces with those who see the same lies and crimes as we all do.
It is like what Dr. Paul did with the Sept 10 New conference getting four 'Libertarian' agreements from very diverse leaders is a STRENGTH not a weakness.
right now
i would take that over a Busche Republican any day...
So what? At least he's
So what? At least he's voting against the bill. That's more than we can say for the so-called "conservatives" who intend to vote for it... at your expense.
So what?!
But we're not talking about so-called "conservatives" here. We're talking about Sanders. Kudos to him for standing up against this Bill. I can give any man credit for doing the right thing. However, I cannot say "This man is awesome" when I know his overall political philosophy.
Politics, like chess, is a game.

Sounds like he likes to talk
maybe he'll filibuster?
There is one thing I didn't hear about his amendment...that was curbing the power that is being handed over to Paulson.
Yep, awesome presentation on
Yep, awesome presentation on the floor. I sent him a thank you email as soon as he was done. I plan to do the same for anyone else who stands up against this bill.
VT
Have voted to impeach Bush. Cool Senator. Cool state.
yup
cool state, they also have a party that wants to secede from the US and they have voted to arrest Bush/Cheney, who are persona non grata. Bush/Cheney has not been there in years (if ever)!
Dr. Paul worked on various issues with Sanders, like Patriort Act and other civil liberties etc. Sanders is also an honest guy, though very different economic model. Very enthusiastic presentation and some things to strongly agree with.
Only state
that Bush/Cheney has not visited during their "tenure".
LOL
suppose it is cuz they might arrest them?
Great speech by
Bernie Sanders, for sure....

Does my burka make my butt look fatwa?
Does my burka make my butt look fatwa?
HE IS AN INDEPENDENT, NOT
HE IS AN INDEPENDENT, NOT REPUBLICAN!!! HE ROCKS!!1
Or Democrat
We need more third party elected officials. They would not be beholden to either the democratic or republican party machines.
I believe this is the only way we can begin taking our country back.
i agree
wholeheartedly
in order for that to happen though, it's up to us to begin to thinking in post-partisan terms.
which means sometimes a socialist is your friend
especially when they're willing to accept your views as equally valid...
