Preparing for possible major events next week
Due to the continuous warnings of impending events (even as early as next week), I feel it is vital for us to be prepared. For those of us who live in cities, we must anticipate a method of quick escape, as well as be prepared with necessary items we should take with us. We may wish to start networking NOW with our friends who live in more rural areas and planning a route to escape and find refuge out in the country. I know someone on here had mentioned providing a place on his land for those who were interested. Ideas like this may need to be explored further. If you have any suggestions, please share. I know, personally, I am very far away from my immediate family, and they live in a more urban area than I do. I shudder to think of the potential madness that could ensue and I am praying for guidance in this matter, for all our sakes. As much as I am ready for this wicked empire to collapse, I recognize what catastrophic events will follow in the panic and desperate rush by starving masses who don't even know this is coming. Most of us are somewhat prepared - I have been collecting dry food items and other necessities for survival and I know many others here have been doing so as well. But how many of us are stuck in urban environments? This is definitely where we should not be during a rapidly-changing situation...

What if the government was unable to sell more Treasury bills? What if China and Japan began to sell? Wouldn't the Treasury be forced to mint money? Then we would have a commodity backed currency, although copper isn't my idea of the best, it is still better than paper debt.
Seems to me that if we want to take power away from the elite who benefit from the Federal government, then people need to stop holding and investing in T-bills and put wealth in their own bank. An investment in T-bills empowers the elitists controlling the Federal government. Remember T-bills are just paper, just like FRNs. Withdrawling our investment is their biggest fear. Holding onto T-bills locks up dollars as they say. I suggest investing in something other than T-bills such as your local economy, food, supplies, silver and gold. These items stimulate our economy and the individual is empowered. But, what the hell do I know?

I wouldn't get in too much of a panic, guys. Just be prepared. Ron said he believed that the bail-out would eventually go through, but no one is expecting an Armageddon-level event. He seemed to indicate that our economy would continue it's downward slide, but it's not going to hit the bottom all at once. Be prepared, get your supplies ready and be vigilant. Roving bands of devolved humans are not about to come chasing after us.

I think you forget about those American Senators my friend :-) And if DHS head, Michael Chertoff and his goons aren't devolved humans, then I don't know who is.
The logistics of evacuating from a large city are impossible...
If Katrina showed us nothing else it was that you can't quickly and efficiently move millions of people from point "A" to point "B".
If you have a place to go outside the city, and you truly believe the time is upon us, I suggest you get there now. Take vacation time, personal time, etc... and just sit it out. If you were wrong, come back.
If you're in the city, you're trapped. Once the fun starts....it's kinda like musical chairs, remember? When the music stopped, the panic of trying to find a free chair...?
I have no advice for preparing in the city. The evils you are up against are compounded. The suburbs offer a bit more breathing room, but not much.

some of these rural homes are vacated and look scary...boarded up and what not maybe start checking them out. The owners might live near by just wanted a newer house, but still work the land and farm. If you want to talk to the farmers about if things get bad how much would they charge for you to stay in there vacated house....maybe if you help with the cows or whatever it'd be free. Otherwise just know where a few are in the shortest amount of distance from your house and how to get there and squat.

are the way to go. We are a whole different "breed"...we still wave at each other even when we have no idea who the heck you are. We take care of each other when we need to.

My parents moved us from Chicago to the country and now I live in the city again, but only 20 miles from them and thats where we're going. They know the farmers well, and theres a few deserted houses so if I need to hide thats where I'll be, and yes everyone out there waves to each other.

Here in L.A. 20 miles won't cut it. I'm thinking if TSHTF I'm heading upstream and along the coast. The shit of it all is that, I was probably much better positioned living in Arkansas than the improbable place I'm at now. The irony is almost chilling; move to the city to escape poverty and have some job opportunity only to find it at the other end of the rainbow.

If there is a way
we need to find it. And I am one of many who would provide safe passage, a place to sleep (maybe your tent though), fresh water, and when we can get the forty acres up and running, eventually food. If the SHTF, people need a place to go, that's all there is to it.
