70-yr-old woman charged with terrorism

Remember the Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007 (S. 1959)?

Even though that hasn't yet passed the Senate, I've heard tell of stories that it's being enforced. Well, here's a story out of Hawaii -- I do not know the circumstances, whether the woman acted in self-defense or not, or any of the details, but note the charge levied against her (emphasis is mine):

Woman, 70, allegedly beats daughter's 20-year-old ex-boyfriend

Excerpt:

Police arrested a 70-year-old woman yesterday for allegedly attacking her daughter’s 20-year-old ex-boyfriend.

(...)

Police located the woman yesterday and booked her on suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening and felony abuse.

Seriously, regular old assault-and-battery or even attempted murder are not sufficient charges? What makes this a "terroristic" threat?

Go re-read S. 1959 and refresh your memory about all it entails, and what criteria are used to determine who is a "terrorist."

Frightening.

I always thought the airports were overdoing it a bit with all the rigorous checking even for 70 year old women...but I guess those darn terrorists come in a wide assortment

And for several years at least, there have been violent criminals serving time on terrorism charges. These aren't good guys, so don't get me wrong, I am not suggesting we should just let 'em go. But they are guilty of things like armed robbery, assault, etc and NOT terrorism.

There was a documentary on prisons on Discovery I think, may have been PBS, a few years back that spent a good portion of time covering this aspect of modern day justice.
