Wall Street rescue may be worst legislation ever - Baltimore Sun
baltimoresun.com — The American people spoke last week, and their rulers ignored them. That's nothing new, I know, but the passage of the bill to rescue Wall Street and other corporate interests from being grievously injured by what they themselves created in a frenzy of runaway greed is the most egregious, morally repugnant piece of legislation to be signed into law since - well, since when? I can't think of anything more ghastly in not only what it does but also what it implies about the future of this nation of ours.
It provides welfare for the mega-rich from the ordinary taxpayer. The rulers will ride out falling markets on the backs of the masses, who were told time and again during the drama preceding the enactment of this thing that the reason they didn't like it one bit was that they - the little people - didn't understand it and were too stupid to applaud forking over hundreds of billions of dollars to their betters in just the manner being prescribed. This unprecedented raid on the public till had to be done lickety-split. Authority figures agree, so who are we to argue? Why should there be hearings when the experts were in agreement as to what should be done? Why listen to any of the many dozens of economists who thought the measure to be insane? It's become trite to call this swollen, pork-laden bill "socialism for the rich," but it is precisely that.
And these men we have running for president, where are they on this? Initially, both Sen. John McCain and Sen. Barack Obama expressed their tentative approval of the bailout, oops, I mean rescue bill, and then began backtracking when the extent of voter disapproval made itself known. A few days later, they came to agree on the necessity of it, thereby illustrating beyond any lingering doubt that, as Ron Paul puts it, "our one-party system is complicit in yet another crime against the American people."

Ron Smith Is A Patriot
Do not read this article and think it reflects the views of The Sunpapers. The article is from a gentleman by the name of Ron Smith, who has a radio show on WBAL-AM weekdays from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m... Smith is a former Marine and was employed for quite a few years as an investment strategist. He is a professed Libertarian who has had his talk show on WBAL for 23 years, and it for years has won his time slot in the Baltimore Metropolitan area. The station has a powerful signal and he is listened to by many inside the D.C. beltway, an area that lacks similar types of talk shows.
The Baltimore Sunpapers has one of the most liberal editorial boards in the nation, and as such has seen constant readership slippage as time goes on. The paper is considered a joke by those who have any conservative views and they avoid it like the plague. The newspaper has constantly downsized because of its lack of readership, and is a shadow of its former self.
Smith was hired to provide a weekly column with an alternative point of view in an effort to boost the readership of The Sun. Smith has long been friendly to Congressman Paul and he has railed against the “rulers” in Washington as he likes to call them, who, he likes to tell listeners, are in reality one political party. He also has long spoken out against the “American Empire”. Many wanted to see him removed from the airwaves when he opposed the Iraq war from its beginning. Ron called that one right also.
Smith often speaks against the one party rule in our state capital in Annapolis, where the governor is a Democrat, as is over 75% of the legislature. They have made Maryland the #1 sanctuary state in the nation for illegal aliens, issuing over 2,200 driver’s licenses a week to folks with improper documentation. After getting a license illegals are immediately but into a line to get a voter’s card. The voting demographic of those wanting to stop this madness gets worse by the day.
Those of us who constantly listen and call in to Ron’s show wonder how much longer Ron will be on the air until political pressure shuts him down. If the “Fairness Doctrine” ever gets past Congress his show would become a shadow of its former self. Patriots need to oppose the “Fairness Doctrine” and support those who attempt to tell the truth on our airwaves like Ron Smith. He is a great & bold American. I am proud to be a regular listener.
Maybe the Electors
will elect Dr. Paul, Baldwin or Nader

I like this bit from the article - "It provides welfare for the mega-rich from the ordinary taxpayer." Robin Hood tried robbing from the rich to give to the poor. This is the exact opposite.
It has all the hallmarks of history repeating itself. When the powers-that-be are strapped for cash, they squeeze the little guy.
