Sweden stock market down 40 % this year (2008)
Submitted by m72mc on Thu, 10/09/2008 - 11:57How much is the US stock market down this year ?
another note:
Last week the Dollar has gained a lot on the SEK
Dollar/sek
1:7 now
1:6 last week or so
year 2000 it was
1:14
Our export firms are cheering the latest dollar bump, since it is so low, Us customers have a hard time buying our goods. This little bump makes you afford a little more. Still you can see, 1:7 vs years 2000 1:14 rate, is still only 50% of your purchasing power.
If the dollar tanks more, which I think it will our export firms will scream in agony, and our export industry will take a big hit....I guess this is a big reason, our country wants to prop the dollar up...this year the swedish fed are selling gold and buying dollar papers I assume..
I think this global ramifications will tank the whole world...
A final note:
Sweden have a big national debt, but still I think it is about half of the US debt.
We have much much higher taxes to pay for this, our return is cheap health care, etc.
Thinking on this, it seems, you will need even higher taxes that what we have, and that without our benefits, since you spent it all on foreign campaigns. If you don´t raises taxes, you will still pay for it with inflation tax.
feel free to comment, tnx

I guess you can be happy
you still have your own currencie (though I don't know if the swedish krona is in some way fixed to the Euro). I think it's likely the Eurozone will further disintegrate and it's possible the Euro will crush down with dollar, so we will go back to national or regional currencies.
We do live in exciting times.

Ron Paul was right
not fixed..but hmm probably unofficially tied to it
