Gold is around $900 right now. How is a jump to $1000 a big deal? I mean, it would be nice considering i moved my entire 401k into gold and silver just last week, but...
$2000 an ounce, now that would be a rocketing change.
I don`t understand why you would put your hard assets in a 401.

it lowers your taxes and employers usually match up to a point.. my wife puts 5% into her 401, also in metals (which I don't trust because we can't hold it), but the Chickasaw Nation, her employer, matches her 100%.

If you're familiar with Steve Quayle's site...
..you know that he posts precious metals at the top of his page. I usually look there at least once a day to check on them.
Today, he has a very interesting 'disclaimer' from Renaissance Precious Metals stating that they will no longer post the manipulated spot prices as they have no bearing on reality. They go on to say that gold is currently selling around $1,000/oz and silver is at around $20/oz.
I thought that was VERY interesting.

Sounds to me like Mr. Quayle loaded up at a
high price like 18 or 19 and he is refusing to sell for less. If he publishes the spot prices, he's afraid, or tired of, people complaining why can't they pay a lower price.
(in other words, he wants to make up a price and not be called out for it)
He can buy silver or gold from other dealers still at lower prices, just like anyone else, then turn around and sell it for 7-8 dollars more and claim that the 'spot' price is manipulated.
Looks like a scam to me.
I have never been able to verify a single one of his shortage or pricing claims - EVER.
