Alex's review is right but I also like the new Zeitgeist

The film says how everything should be and most likely is going to be automated in the future and we should embrace that,...Alex is saying that the elite control all these new technologies, so if everything were automated they would'nt need the public around. If you think about it, I'm sure there is tons of supressed technology that only the elite have...so if were not allowed to use it now, what makes you think we would be able to use it in the future. In a ideolisitc perfect world the film is right, in the real world Alex is right. Now they key is to create a future somewhere in the middle. Get rid of the elite, then maybe we could create this utopia that addendum talks about.

VOTE CHUCK BALDWIN

A nation of sheep will beget a government of wolves.

us caution please!

the first time I saw Zeitgeist a year ago I was really into it. I did wonder about some of the edit techniques though, very hypnotic!

then the new one came out and I thought again - very hypnotic!

this film is very crafty. I now think Alex Jones may be right on with some of his ideas about it.

don't buy everything!

I'm watching his review in

I'm watching his review in parts, now, and he doesn't seem to be doing a hit piece on the film, so much as reinforcing salient points about the economy, Marxism, the New World Order, and so on. Of course I'm not all the way through his review, but that's how it sounds to me.

Well, if you take Alex

Well, if you take Alex Jones' interpretation and opinion on this movie at face value, then good luck. He is completely distorting what they are saying and drawing his own erroneous conclusions.

Name one thing that you take issue with in Alex's critique.

The reason some people are so in love with this film is because it has no positive agenda to defend apart from "technology is good."

Wow. Technology is good eh? Can't argue with that!

Technology good. Politics bad.
Resources good. Scarcity bad.
Happiness good. Sadness bad.
Peace good. War bad.

My question for the Zeitgeist lovers is this:

What are your practical concrete plans for the future?

Political involvement? No. Politics is bad. Remember?
Study economics? No. Economics is all about scarcity. Scarcity Bad!
Lifestyle? Oh yeah. Now we're talking...

What are you ranting about?

What are you ranting about? Did you erroneously conclude that because I criticized Jones for his distorted review that I must then be in love with the movie? I can criticize both, since they are not mutually exclusive criticisms.

90% of what he said is completely taken out of context or just plain distortion. The main distortion is that Alex keeps arguing points that are relevant in a monetary based system, but the film is promoting a non-monetary system so he is arguing oranges against apples. This whole notion that the movie promotes communism is just bizarre when they clearly argue individual liberty and not to be enslaved by anyone.

They are not promoting equality. That is just a false conclusion, and if I am wrong, then show me where they did. I think you missed the point of the movie.

What am I ranting about?

The topic of this thread.

Did I erroneously conclude that you must be in love with Zeitgeist Addendum because you took issue with Alex Jones on his critique?

No. I said "Zeitgeist Lovers" not "You". I just asked you to be specific about the elements of Alex's critique you didn't like.

If you named one specific thing in Alex Jones's Critique...

...that you disagreed with, then we could start to have a sensible discussion about the topic of this thread. Otherwise, I don't think that's going to happen.

"90% of what he said is

"90% of what he said is completely taken out of context or just plain distortion." - 90% is a pretty exact number, surely then your can actually support it by explaining what you think is "out of context or just plain distortion".

In what way?

In what way?

First, show me where in the

First, show me where in the film they argue or say that there should be a world Government. Please, and provide the time where they do say it, not where you may think they say it, i.e. your interpretation of something. if you can't find it, there is at least one thing Alex is distorting. There are many more time,s but let's start with that.

"World Unity" as described

The type of "World Unity" as described by the "Venus Project" is what AJ's referring to.

World Unity does not mean

World Unity does not mean world government. This is the kind of conclusion that makes it sound kooky. Unity means no wars, trading, talking etc, hmm sounds like what Ron Paul is saying.

Exactly. Will the unity be enforced?

I think if you asked a Zeitgeist fan, they would say "NO. NO. NO. People will just want to be united."

Of course, this begs this "Why?" question.

That's where the Zeitgeist fan will just shout at you for "not getting it".

Zeitgeist talks alot about "eradicating" and "abolishing" things. But of course, they will claim that this will not happen by force, it will happen spontaneously when people "get it".

Zeitgeist part 3: http://www2.b3ta.com/mind-control/

You eradicate and abolish

You eradicate and abolish things by agreement, not force. You don't abolish war by force, it is done by agreement. So when people start to see things differently they will agree, eventually, to eradicate the current system. Same way the barter system got eradicated. Not that big of a mystery.

On what planet?

"You eradicate and abolish things by agreement, not force."

Name anything that is against the law. Does this law have any meaning whatsoever without enforcement? Of course not!

"So when people start to see things differently they will agree, eventually, to eradicate the current system."

Even a cursory inspection of any history book will show you that is not true. We have seen some profound political changes in History. None of them occurred with 100% agreement of all parties concerned.

"Same way the barter system got eradicated."

No one eradicated barter. Its not illegal. People swap things all the time!

What on Earth are you talking about?

Awesome critique.

Alex Jones took the courageous step of taking the film makers at their word.

How did the makers of Zeitgeist Addendum plan to arrive at the technocratic utopia of the Venus Project?

From my experience as a former socialist, I tend to classify lefties according to their willingness to ask the "HOW?" question.

At one end of the spectrum we have the cranky old anarchist in Zeitgeist Addendum who would probably have an apoplectic fit if you tried to ask him HOW we get from HERE and NOW to THERE and THEN.

At the other end of the spectrum you have the scary-ass Commies who sometimes have it all worked out. Like the guys who issued this leaflet dated October 1st 2008:

http://www.cpgb-ml.org/download/leaflets/introducing_2008100...

Many people start off at the Zeitgeist Addendum end of the lefty spectrum and end up at the scary ass Stalinist end when they get frustrated at the lack of progress towards Utopia.

You are spot on

'The end justifies the means' is the (inofficial) credo of practical socialism. The 'ends' appeals to the idealist, the 'means' to the mob. This system was discredited by the failure of soviet-style 'real-existing socialism'.
And the 'soft left' doesn't realize that their success (as in the western welfare system) is based on a corporate-capitalist economy and permanent credit expansion. That system is about to fail now.

Freedom brings People together

Ron Paul was right

According to Fedor and jshowell...

...Zeitgeist Addendum was all about urban homesteading. Which is strange, as there is no mention of urban homesteading in the film.

Urban homesteaders are just one variety of hard-working self-employed people. I don't see how they are in any way connected with the Venus Project or a society without money, property, work, nations, borders or a society where technocrat controlled robots run everything.

Maybe its just me. Maybe I just don't "get it" ;-)

There are undeniable similarities of Zeitgeist

and this movie I came across lately. From what I've found the first Zeitgeist was shown in Nov. 07. This movie came out Oct 07. I would like to know if anyone else has seen this one to compare?

oh yea

here is the website from where i first saw the clip of this movie
http://www.iamthewitness.com/

Yeah it's very interesting

I watched it a while back. The DC, London, Vatican triumvirate is pretty lopsided though. London - financial power - fiat nonsense isn't all that powerful. Vatican - spiritual power - no offense to catholics, but what a crappy religion (im agnostic so i reserve the right to critique all religion equally) When is the last time you heard of someone converting to catholicism? DC - military might - this is where all the power lies, if somone were to harness this power for good the Beefeaters (with their cylindrical afro hats) and Vatican Guard (with their flamboyantly colored pantaloons) could do nothing and the supposed power structure would crumble.

Yea it had me and wifie feeling all warm and fuzzy, but in the

morning I had a hell of a hangover.

Wow, these people started this ecovillage long before

the movie. How did they get brainwashed?????? OHHHHH, scary.

http://www.blackmountain.org/

"post smokers"?!?!?!

is this some new slang im not familiar with?

"Barney Frank is a post smoker." I like it.

theLibertyOrDeathCAST

The two main side effects of POST smoking:

1. Short-term memory loss.

2. Uh... I... What was that second one? Oh well...

No, sorry

They have built a very cool village off the grid. Most are professionals. Several Ron Paul supporters. This is what true individuals can look like. True Patriots.

Oh, so everyone who is NOT living in some "ecovillage" is

therefore a "false individual" and a "False Patriot."

Because the only TRUE individuals and patriots are living in ecovillage (or wishing they could...)

Keep slinging it kiddo...
