Horrid thought I just had on Gold and Silver manipulation....

Would love some of our experts out there to rebuke this idea. I think it is rather clear that there has been extensive manipulation of the Gold and Silver markets.... and recently the Gold and Silver stocks - stocks on GREAT companies with exciting prospects - have been sent into the toilet. There has not been a very logical reason for their plummet.

WHAT IF at these meetings this weekend, the plan is to put ALL countries back on a gold standard. I think they are doing this because China and Russia and India and many others ARE going to do this and they don't want their currencies to be worthless.

THEN they say to the people of the Western World...... "In order to climb out of the current crisis we MUST confiscate all of your Silver and Gold and metals stocks so that we can back the new improved currency."

Perhaps, knowing that they were going to do this, they have manipulated these prices SO low, so that they can buy at low prices, and the ordinary people will be forced to sell out at this horrid price.

Someone tell me why this doesn't make sense.... PLEASE.

I would love to go back to a gold standard, but I want to see the gold, I want to be able to trade a FRN for government gold, not just have a bill that says, gold certificate. We have all been through that lie before.

Interesting...

Is this why the government

Is this why the government has stopped selling gold coins. Wouldn't this mean we could pay off our house with as little as 1 ounce of gold?

How many dollars on on the

How many dollars are on the market and how much gold exists in Fort Knox? Would this mean we have to send most of the gold abroad?

Doubtful..."THEY" want OUR

Doubtful..."THEY" want OUR currancy to be worthless so they can push the NAU as a solution.

You can forget the gold standard

We'll never see anything like that again. They could never accumulate enough of either metal to back the volume of electronic money flying around the world. But, do look for a uniform currency, that they'll "say" is pegged to, maybe, the value of gold. But as far as reserves go, they won't be there.

Perhaps you should read

Perhaps you should read Murray Rothbard a bit. He explained why it is totally possible to get back on the gold standard irregardless of the amount of electronic money.

Exactly... One could back a gazillion "dollars"

(or fill in the name of your favorite currency) with one ounce of gold. It's all purely a matter of gold valuation which is largely determined by the relative size of gold holdings between nations.

The question that always pops up in my mind (when listening to RP talk about a return to the gold standard) is how much gold does the U.S. actually have? Any? If one is to believe the stories, Ft. Knox has been empty for decades... A comforting illusion.

Wouldn't that be a kick in the head? Fight for a return to the gold standard, only to find out that we don't have any...

To steal a phrase from i

To steal a phrase from i think Devon. Its not Fractional Researve Banking anymore. It Fictional Researve Banking.

I've read that based on how

I've read that based on how the money supply has increased over the years, gold would need to be priced at a ridiculous amount if we returned to a gold standard. Something like $35,000 per ounce. I forget where I read that at.

...

Just based on current national debt

then the price of gold ($10+ trillion / 148 million ounces (what the Treasury can "confirm" it has)) would be north of $90,000. To insure the total financial structure to include derivatives at only 10% of the face value of the paper would give us $34,000+ per ounce. The house of cards is imploding and competitive devaluation is in effect and a race to zero for all the world's currencies is taking place. The ONLY way to stop this is to find some way to shore up these currencies with something of value. I think that is why the major players of the economy are getting such deep brown stains in their drawers.

This makes perfect sense.....

I think I just had a moment of hysteria. I think now I will be able to sleep this weekend! THANKS

just lead and gunpowder

Why would they bring back the gold standard?

For us to even consider this theory, we have to explain how the US policy makers would benefit from a new gold standard. A return to gold would contradict everything they've been doing so far, and would force the government to balance the budget.

I don't see how this could happen.

Ah.... BUT...

The REST of the G-7 countries are really ANGRY with the U.S. right now for scamming them out of Billions by selling packages of "AAA" rated JUNK. Outright FRAUD usually puts people in a really bad mood. The whole world may decide to teach the U.S. a lesson...... AND the evil ones want to own ALLLLLLLL the precious metals in the world anyway. So if they bankrupt the US in the process, that would be fine with them...... is my theory.

BUT... I would MUCH prefer yours.

They're angry, but not influential enough

This proposal would come from a "rogue" nation, such as Russia or China. The EU is way too predictable and slow to come up with this, and they usually play by the rules.

The bottom line is that a gold standard proposal would be rejected by the US, and would not gain enough traction to justify a gold confiscation.

I have been thinking

food freedom, one seed at a time.

I have been thinking the same thing. Our mint has stopped selling silver and gold, people are being forced to sell out their PM just to pay the bills. The market is totally being manipulated.
With the mint suppossedly shut down they could be retooling with new dies for "NEW" world coins.I hope not!

Right...I forgot about them ceasing the sales of coins!

Sure hope we're both wrong.

More likely they will back the money with lead.

Buy, sell and invest locally.

There is a better way, every body just needs to take all their money out of the stock market and government T-bills, buy food, supplies, silver and gold. Then use the silver and gold to start local businesses and trade. Invest in your local communities and don't lend money to anyone unless you know where they live and can look them in the eye.
Expecting companies thousands of miles away to take care of your money or expecting big government to solve our problems is the act of a fool.
