Ron Paul On Restoring Confidence in the Markets

Who has said that capitalism failed? No one has, as far as I can tell. I do hear, and agree with many, saying that we need to have rules to prevent criminals from gaming the system.

The fraudulent practices we are suffering from come from the ethos of “free market” rhetoric. So the question is “for whom are the markets free?” For the last 8 years they have been free enough for Phil Gramm to exacerbate this thing through deregulation while his cronies in the GOP make billions. Keep in mind, to a criminal, the prosecution for a crime might seem like an unwarranted form of government intervention. And please don’t tell me Phil Gramm just wasn’t a pure enough free-marketeer. That was his mantra.

The debate about whether the “free” market should be allowed to generate a fraudulent mortgage based international investment scheme is a question that warrants debate. But I would add that if the government imposes an unregulated international market system on middleclass Americans then that is an unacceptable form of heavy-handed government intervention. That, by the way, is what we are living through right now.

Ron Paul has many valid points to make on this issue and I respect him a lot. He deserves a seat at the table in the coming debate with the new administration. His voice must be heard. But it is hyperbole to claim that everyone (or even anyone) is saying capitalism has failed.

Anyone who thinks that that debate is not legitimate would be un-American. Dr. Paul is a patriot so I can safely conclude that he believes in having that debate. It is not helpful, however to radicalize the issue with capitalism versus socialism (or communism) rhetoric. No one is advocating abandoning capitalism. There are many levels of government involvement or non-involvement. The question is what form it will take and who will benefit? In a democracy the people get to decide what form of capitalism they want.

Ron Paul - thank you sir.

The slogan press on has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race. No person was ever honored for what he received. Honor has been the reward for what he gave.

by some chance we could video bomb the TV stations with chuck Baldwin ads and other means to spread the message what a difference would it make, think about it he only needs 180 electoral votes taking to account the reps and dems candidates, yes its a lot but no one said liberty was easy.

Beacon of light.

-- Chuck Baldwin is closest to RP's message. --

are they collecting the PMI on top of the gov't buyout?

What Is PMI?
PMI is extra insurance that lenders require from most home buyers who obtain loans that are more than 80 percent of their new home's value. In other words, buyers with less than a 20 percent down payment are required to pay PMI.

Benefits of PMI
PMI plays an important role in the mortgage industry by protecting a lender against loss if a borrower defaults on a loan and by enabling borrowers with less cash to have greater access to homeownership.

Great point

I've been wondering the same thing.

Post Ron Paul on Capitalism video

There is another good video of Dr. Paul answering the question: Did Capitalism Fail? over at the CFL site. I think that is a huge issue and I would like to see the video over here too. Average joes are buying into this idea that capitalism has failed us, when in truth we have yet to see much of true capitalism given a chance in the States.

People need to be educated in this area. Dr. Paul's video begins to lay that out. CFL has it here. If we could get it up here that would be good I think.

It's starting to sound redundant...

Dont Panic - Famous last words? HAHAHA

Don't panic! I'm in charge now!

For those familiar with Dad's Army, the British sitcom about the wartime Home Guard, this piece about Corporal Jones attempting to assist is very topical. Maybe his words could be put into President Bush's mouth and we get a view of today's bailout baloney.

The modern banks have a bomb under them alright. It's a toxic loan exocet. We can defuse it, but not with any bonus bagger near the fuse!

Michael...money bomb for air time?

Can you ask Dr. Paul if he would speak directly to the TV nation using the same format that T.Boone uses with his energy commercials? A money bomb specifically for this purpose would be off the charts.

How about with Chuck Baldwin...announcing that Ron Paul

would be his treasury secretary. People need to see that there is a viable alternative...right now, before it is too late. Interjecting a Ross Perot type scenario is just what we need right now. So many people are disgusted with McCain...this would be great. Count me in too.

Excellent Idea!

Brilliant, I'm in for one note if he would do it.

Great idea, I would contribute. The people need to hear better alternatives than feeding the beast that got us here.

END the FED before it ENDS US

Many of us would contribute

to this broadcast! My respect for Dr. Paul increases each time he speaks!

this is just about the only money bomb I would support at this time

this man is solid

no screws loose here!

Thanks Dr. Paul for addressing the issue's!

Always great to hear from Dr. Paul!

I respect and admire this man so much for speaking up about all of this. Could you imagine going through all of this without his words of wisdom? He has helped me so much to become aware of how things really work in our government and to be prepared for tough economic times when no one else was paying attention (except for fellow RP supporters). I will always be grateful.

Goodness gracious! He makes

Goodness gracious! He makes the whole thing so simple. Is there some point at which politicians will realize that nothing that they do, no amount of redistribution of future liability will tun this around? Makes me crazy.

5% of people make things happen
10% of people watch things happen
85% say "What happened?"

Thank you...

...for the update Dr. Paul! :) Always good to hear your counter conversation and common sense!

When you know the thieves

When you know the thieves and psychopaths are running the show, there can be no confidence.

The people in essence are giving a "no confidence" vote. Yet, the people in charge STAY IN CHARGE!!! Now thats exactly what you would expect to happen when they are criminals and have only their interests in mind. The fucking government has been usurped by these fucking fat pigs.

i hope you get a seat in some high office when a patriot becomes president.

He already IS in a high office...
