Important! California GOP now requires voters to register Republican for primary
Instead of bickering about the Iowa debates, I thought that I should post very possibly one of the most important challenges to Ron Paul supporters at this moment, getting the word out to California voters. This post came from www.ronpaulforpresident2008.com website, probably the largest most informative website for Ron Paul on the web. Check it out for yourself if you want. Here is the post on the front page:
For the first time, the California Republican party is not allowing unaffiliated voters to vote in the presidential primary[1]. Since this fact has not been shared widely, this means many non-affiliated voters will be turned away when it comes time to vote!
To vote for Ron Paul in California, you need to re-register to vote as a Republican here:
http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/elections_vr.htm before January 21.
I recommend taking a couple minutes to do it now, since you'll probably forget later.
Also, this year the California Republican Primary will NOT be winner-take-all[2], which means your vote will make a difference in helping Ron Paul get nominated! So plan on going to vote!
If you need any more information, send me an email pennycoder@gmail.com.

gop must be getting worried
they will take any steps they can. This will cost us some votes. I guess well just have to work harder.
California GOP
California GOP made this decision last year, long before they envisioned a "Ron Paul". The justification for NOT allowing open primary votes in the Presidential Primary (although the Democrats did) was that many might vote in the Rep Primary in order to nominate a candidate who could be easily beaten by a Democrat.
The GOP never envisioned that there might be a Republican candidate that the status quo/neocons would find "unacceptable". It is really quite ironic the way it is turning out. I still dont have a feel for whether or not the CA GOP is now trying to discourage GOP registration, in order to thwart Ron Paul. Anyone out there have any info?
My suspicion is, however, that they are "clueless", especially since they are so reliant on the outdated and useless mainstream polls.

Help keep the other silly griping rants down. Look at the posters time on this board.... only support legit posts.
I notice that they might be playing "good troll-bad troll" to keep their rants high without it seeming all negative. When the post is about to die, they post what seems to be a positive post, only to be followed by a string of negatives from other "posters"
For fun track both sides and see if you see the pattern.
Very Important

I think the campaign should say at the end of its advertisements if voters have to register as republican in whatever state the advertisement is aired in.

i live in los angeles and have been worried about this!
i registered last week, but don't expect everyone else to know about it.
California has A LOT of independent voters.
My son and his wife live in
My son and his wife live in LA and I have already called him to change from independent to republican.
My mom is already registered
Thanks for the info, will pass it on to my sisters.
I just called campaign headquarters
This post wasn't on www.ronpaulforpresident2008.com earlier so it must have just happened this afternoon. I have left a message at RP's campaign headquarters to have them verify the information so that they can post it on the campaign website. I agree and I'm really concerned that it may happen in Missouri and other states too. I am really starting to wonder why the GOP is pulling these tactics for the first time in primaries. You are correct about alot of people switching to independent.
Thanks to all of you for keeping this post bumped up!
Bump...verifiable on campaign website
If you go to ronpaul2008.com and click on the STATES option a map will appear...choose California. It states that it will be a closed primary, and that the final day to register/change party affiliation is JAN 21 2008!
Please help get this info out. I am going to paint it on the back window of my car. Please help spread the word!
Hestia
Thanks!
I hadn't noticed the map on the campaign website. Keep up the good work and get the word out! Ron Paul will win because his supporters are the best!!
