The CATO Institute is behind the LP, and supports the global war on terror, although is against the iraq war. Murray M. Rothbard called 'em sellouts regarding their repackaged economic liberalism. After picking Barr, and Barrs dissing of Paul, I'm not going to look at them again until 2012. No need to speculate until then. I'll support the Constitution party in every position I can, especially where the 2 choices are between a neocon fascist and a fabian socialist/marxist. If I find Constitutional Republicrats, I'll support them.

The LP has lost its way
They've had 37 years to get their act together. Where is their ballot access?
Bob Barr is only on the ballot in 45 states. That's less than Nader, an Independent. Hell, even Ron Paul had one more than that in 1988 when he was a libertarian candidate.
In what should have been the best year ever for the LP, they botched it.
It looks like the LP will always be a debate club, content with its superior insignificance.
Ron Paul is my candidate in 2012, and he will be on the Republican ticket. And he will get the nomination this time. We will have all the pieces in place to make it happen.

100% paper ballots, a system whereby every American serving in the armed forces vote is counted & a Rupublican party returned to its core values with Ron Paul as the only remaining original member.

If I can get the Constitution Party and the Libertarian Party to agree to fight it out only on the State level and field NO candidates for Federal office, then the fledgling notion of a new Federalist Party (a real one, not the phony precursor to the Whigs/Republicans that had no conception of true federalism) with a patriot veteran anarcho-materialist at the helm could shake the rafters.

Yeah, I agree with you, I'm not locked into any one party. I'm willing to consider candidates from other parties after studying their positions and records. Of all those people on the libertarian list, I would only choose Ron Paul(but I seriously doubt he will run), because I feel all of them except Ron Paul are wrong when it comes to the issue of illegal immigration, they either favor little to no enforcement against illegal immigration and/or amnesty for illegal aliens. Ron Paul is the only reasonable one in that list imo. The problem is with the libertarian party platform, they encourage people to be weak on illegal immigration, so I tend to avoid the LP, unless the LP fields someone with a rational position like Ron Paul who disagrees with the LP on the illegal immigration issue.

I'm not voting Libertarian for president anymore until they change their method of nominating candidates, or at least take it all seriously enough to install procedures allowing them to recall the nominee.
The party has permanently lost my vote for President. And if the Constitution Party gets on the Texas ballot, they've permanently lost my vote for any office.

I'm favorably impressed by Steve Kubby.
Ron should continue his role as the conscience of the Republican party. We're not going to fix what's wrong with this country without fixing at least one of the major parties in the process.
The neocons have weakened the Republican party tremendously, creating a great opportunity for constitutionalists to take it back.

The base has expanded
exponentially in the last year or two. And many people in that base are true libertarians who wouldn't even consider voting for a man with a record like Barr's. I admittedly care far more about principle than minor political victories, so my election strategy is certainly lacking. The crack, hookers and machine guns comment, was not a joke. . . ok it was but i still mean it. War on Drugs, failure; Prostitution, victimless; Machine Guns, none of the Feds business.
I will be voting for every Libertarian on the ballot, minus Barr.

Unfortnately, Ruwart is a liabilty that will drag down
the LP into oblivion. People will forgive many things, even if they aren't true.
But give people the perception that you support something vile and heinous, and you are toast politically. It matters not what she really said or meant. It matters only how people perceive it.
The day she becomes the nominee, is the day I leave the LP. I cannot be associated with that.

If you have such a strong desire to foist your morals on someone else by force, then you are not a Libertarian. I suggest you read Dr. Ruwart's book and think about what principles really are. I'll give you a hint; they aren't something you force on others.
