Palin now accused of being with terrorist Alaska Independence Party!
Since everyone thinks we are conspiracy theorists anyway, I think this is an attempt to get RP supporters to come to her defense.
Breaking News on CNN and salon.com is that Sarah Palin and husband are members of the "extremist" Alaskan Independence Party who want to secede from the union and call themselves "constitutionalists". CNN compares them to Timothy McVay and also groups in the John Birch Society in there as part of the "terrorist" group. Can you believe this!!!!!!!! They are calling the AIP a terror group!

Comparing the Weather Underground to the AIP
Is completely idiotic.
First off, they haven't killed anybody or planned to kill anybody.
Secondly they have no goal to radicalize the rest of the country, but only for their state to reassume the rights and mantle of leadership as noted in the Articles of Confederation. Every state has the right to succeed, but obviously since the last Civil War was where Lincoln imposed a dictatorship over the states it makes sense that you need to take up arms you follow this course of action again.
This is all part of the media's trend to place constitutionalists as terrorists. Just look at all of the shows coming out -- there are even shows coming about the Great Depression too. The media is doing everything they can to brainwash the people.

I read several months ago that Palin and her husband were involved in the AIP and that one of their goals or interests was to secede from the US. This isn't entirely new news, although this is the first time I've seen them called terrorists from wanting to do so.

That CNN reporter was acting like this was earth-shaking news
and he had a sense of urgency in his voice to alert the whole world that Sarah Palin has connections to a third party movement, as if that were the worst thing in the world someone could do.
The reporter and his guest literally made me laugh out loud at their feigned indignation over this "news".

Palin and the AIP
I am not voting for Palin for VP. I did vote for her for Lt. Gov, in 2002 primary (she lost) and for Governor in the primary and general in 2006 (she won, obviously). She has been a Buchanan-backing, libertarian-leaning, third-party friendly person all of her political history. Her husband was indeed registered as a member of the Alaskan Independence Party, until 2002, when he needed to register GOP to vote for his wife in the primary for Lt. Gov. (Please note, every media seems to get it wrong. The party's name is Alaskan Independence Party, because at heart, they stand for Alaskan Independence. They are not just another "Independent Party" that is neither GOP or Dem.)
Sarah Palin was endorsed by both the Alaska Libertarian Party and the Alaskan Independence Party in 2006 for Governor. She has spoken at state conventions for both parties.
Her history with third parties and independent-minded Republicans (such as Buchanan) was solid, until she threw us all under the Straight Talk bus so she could hop on board the McCain bandwagon.
The Sarah Palin you see on TV is not the real Sarah that we Alaskans know and like. She is the neo-con brain-transplanted Sarah, who cannot utter words or phrases that have not been preapproved by her masters, which aside from the McCain campaign, include AIPAC and other lobbyists friendly with McInsane. Palin looks and sounds like she has been lobotomized by the neocons, because she has been.
What this article tells me is that the establishment fears Sarah and must now paint her as a freak and a terrorist, lest ideas such as seccession, militias, and states' rights be allowed to gain prominence among the masses. It is a pre-emptive strike, if you will, against *US*.
The AIP is not a bunch of terrorists. It is a bunch of people who believe in states' rights. It has a bunch of Native Alaska members who believe the federal government has screwed Natives out of their homeland, by locking up almost 70% of the Alaskan land mass in federal preserves and reserves. It has a bunch of non-Eskimo Alaskans who believe similarly that the federal government has locked up Alaska and kept us down. We also resent the federal government taxing our oil wealth, which is owned by all Alaskans in common.
The AIP represents what America used to be. Before statehood, Joe Vogler, the party founder, tired of federal oppression, famously said "I have no use for America or her damned institutions...I'm an Alaskan, not an American." He viewed the various military bases here before statehood as an occupation. He lamented that U.S. troops stationed in Alaska were permitted to vote in the election that determined statehood. (Consider how the Iraqis would react if U.S. forces stationed in Iraq voted in Iraqi elections.)
So what if Mark Chryson, the AIP director for a few years, has a bunch of weapons. So do most of the DP members. So do many Republicans. The 2nd amendment still stands, correct? So, big deal.
This is a hit piece aimed at us as much as it is at Sarah.
Sarah is one of us. She has been temporarily possessed by demons. I am confident that after McCain loses and she comes back to Alaska, we can exorcise those demons and get back the Sarah we libertarian-conservatives have appreciated for the last decade or so.
To call the AIP a terrorist organization, to call Joe Vogler a domestic terrorist, is laughable. But the sheep will eat it up and baaaaaa for more.
The AIP is the most patriotic bunch of people I know.
