No Debates for Paul? Why?

0 votes

I'm new to this forum so forgive me if this is already been discussed or is as ignorant as a typical Repub., Dem., vote.

But why isn't or why hasn't Ron Paul been involved in the presidential debates? Who decides who participates? And why is it ever fair to not invite someone who is eligable?

Just chiming in. This is my first real post - be gentle.

Ron Paul is not running, he endorsed Chuck Baldwin for President

Paul suspended his campaign so that he could focus on his Campaign for Liberty, getting more people involved in local politics, and supporting Liberty minded candidates.

Ron Paul's Convention Speech

Suspended, then ended

There is no Ron Paul for President campaign anymore. RIP PCC.

Once the RNC was over, the campaign was over, as there was nothing more to campaign for (as he was a candidate for the Republican nomination for President, and not a candidate for President directly, as he has not chosen to run third party or independent).

Hi there!

I'm Cliff (you probably can see that -HEHE).

I couldn't say exactly why he's not putting forth much effort to get into a debate, but I imagine his ares of concentration are just a lot different right now.

He's very concerned about Americans. He's an admirable man who's doing his part in leading the nation back home.

He's also occupied with his congressional duties.

Which debate should he be in?

A debate for former presidential candidates?

No such debates to my knowledge (and what would be the point)?

Welcome

Welcome EarlJam to the Revolution, welcome to Ron Paul country!

Vote Libertarian

The Libertarian Party has been around since 1974 and has consistently been in the forefront of the battle defending our Freedom. Their candidate this year is Bob Barr. He will be on the ballot in almost all states.

I would suggest reading the party platforms for both the Libertarian Party and the Constitution Party - Chuck Baldwin is their candidate.

At the federal level, the Constitution Party does a fair job of supporting Freedom, with the LP having only a slight edge. It is at the state level of government where the two parties separate. The LP consistently supports Freedom, even at the state level, whereas the Constitution Party begins to deviate and supports more statist control over our lives at the state level.

Many on this forum are supporting Baldwin because of Ron Paul's endorsement. For me, it's all about Freedom.

I'm also voting for Chuck Baldwin

The Libertarian Party really screwed up nominating the ex-CIA neo-conservative Bob Barr.

Ron Paul's Convention Speech

Actually I'm supporting

Actually I'm supporting Chuck Baldwin because the Libertarian presidential candidate is a signatory to the Patriot Act.

And his V.P. is a neoconservative.

Kevin Tuma...

I am also writing in Chuck Baldwin, here in California. He is the only, and mean the only one running that will abide by our Constitution. I had great hopes for the Libertarian Party candidate, but then I found out he turned on Constitution, and the people by supporting the Patriot Act.
Chuck Baldwin has my vote, and Ron Paul has endorsed him publicly, and that was all I needed.

Too many LP'ers rallied

Too many LP'ers rallied around Ron Paul this past year. I'll not argue against the position that Barr is not a strong LP candidate. His sincerity is questionable. His history more so. We should welcome converts to the party, but I don't think they should be selected as our presidential candidate until they prove themselves better than Barr did.

Still, the convention did choose him as our candidate and, for me, it's party platform over candidate.

Why not split ticket your

Why not split ticket your vote? That's what I'm going to do.

If you have serious reservations about Barr, but vote for him anyway based on party label, you're essentially doing the same thing Democrats and Republicans do.

Excellent question which

Excellent question which doesn't apply because neither Baldwin nor Barr can win the election. So it comes down to which party best represents my beliefs and which party will best continue to represent me going into future election cycles. That party is the LP and so is the party I would like to see do well this year and become stronger in the process. If Baldwin does end up siphoning off votes, this will be a valuable lesson learned.

yes.

Kevin Tuma was going to vote for Bob Barr before he took the time and did the research..

Actually a vote for any third party candidate,, besides Barr of course is a good vote.

Good morning

Sunshine!! :)

Earljam

did you just come out from under a rock. Vote Chuck Baldwin

Ya'll take it easy on EarlJam. He is a buddy I had sign up tonit

He is just working the system trying to figure out how the paulites respond.

IT IS NOT A WASTED VOTE!

That is awesome...

I hope he will consider a Third Party, and not more of the same!!!!!!!!!

Good job

Keep 'em comin'. I think I can handle his questions here at first. Later, someone else can handle them.

welcome

Earljam welcome . Now that you are here I bet you never leave

some history

When Herbert Walker and Dukakis met secretly to discuss their debate, they came up with the agenda...what was to be talked about and not, who was to be invited and who was to be excluded. When they sent this to the League of Women Voters (who have traditionally governed the debates)....they replied to their proposal: "This would constitute a fraud to the American public" and shoved it back their way.

POOF, the Presidential Commission on Debates. Run by? former RNC and DNC chairs. Since then....closed doors to any real topics.

Have you heard McBama debating over non-intervention? Federal Reserve? Patriot Act? FISA? Nope.

Two meat-puppets with the same string pullers.

well, for one, you have to

well, for one, you have to be a candidate/running for President. Ron Paul is not running. He was running to get the Republican nomination to be a candidate for President. He ended his campaign in May/June. John McCain won the nomination.

The Commission on Presidential Debates decides who gets to be in the debates. Generally, it's just the two major parties. For a 3rd party candidate to participate they have to be on enough state ballots to win and be polling at at least 10% (or maybe it's 15%) nation-wide in at least 3 national surveys.

Ron Paul

made his official announcement he was dropping out of the race on June 5th. That was a remarkably eventful day for me.

For starters, Ron Paul is

For starters, Ron Paul is not running for President. He dropped out. He was running for the Republican candidacy, but failed to reach that goal. He was in all of the televised debates for the primaries, except one on FauxNews.

Just wishful thinking I

Just wishful thinking I suppose.

So as a newbie, are most of you voting McCain or Obama, or is it none of my Diety Damned business?

-EarlJam

"Abe, really. Would it kill you to take me to just one friggin' play?"

-Mary Todd

Chuck

:)

Chuck Baldwin

Even though the entire system has been hijacked and votes for president no longer mean anything. But besides that; Chuck Baldwin.

Good grief...you really are a newbie...

None of us are voting for McCain or Obama....we're voting third party. I'm voting for Chuck Baldwin.

Third Party is what you will find here....

or at least with me...

I know a few

who are taking more of a "fourth party" approach and aren't bothering to vote for anyone!

Dr Paul is no longer running

....Why are Nader, Barr, Baldwin and McKinney not in the debates is a good question. And the answer is, the two parties own the commission on presidential debates and write the rules.
