The direction this forum has taken lately is counter productive.

The direction this forum has taken lately is counter productive.

There are now raging debates about religion and masonry. I've been involved in the latter, but that is not the point of this post.

Masons, no matter what your opinion of them, are all about free speech and liberty. There are however two subjects that are not allowed to be discussed in the lodges, and are even discouraged from discussion among its members outside of the lodge.

Religion and politics. The reason is simple, those topics are very divisive and very destructive to the atmosphere of brotherhood and brotherly love so important to masons.

This is a political forum. We are brought here by our shared concerns for our country and our desire to preserve EVERYONE'S liberties.

We need each other. We need this "brotherhood", "coalition", "revolutionary army", whatever you want to call it, to remain focused on why we are here.

United we stand, divided we fall.

I would encourage us all to take a cue from the masons. While it is obvious we must discuss politics here, we should refrain from discussing religion. It will only divide us and make enemies out of allies.

I'd also like to extend an olive branch to ArmorofChrist777. Please let your anti masonic threads die. I'd much rather have you as an ally for freedom than to continue defending against attacks on something that means a great deal to me.

Please do not turn this topic, which is meant to discourage the divisive religious discussions, into another mason bashing one.

Another topic that shouldn' be discussed:

Alex Jones.

Freedom brings People together

Ron Paul was right

What do you discuss?

I agree the subjects of religion and politics can be very divisive (however I believe it is only when people approach it from an arrogant, unhumble perspective). However, given that you are discouraged from talking about it, what do you discuss? Are you the guys responsible for boring sports talk and fluffy celeb gossip dominating American conversation? ; ) I honestly believe we need to talk about politics and religion, in an open minded way though. A manner that recognizes everyone is imbued with the Holy Spirit of the divine.

I just think it would be a shame

I think it would be a shame if discussion of religion here made enemies out of allies.

The amazing thing about what Ron Paul has done is he brings people together from all walks of life and they all get along with each other. I would hate to see people meet at an event one day and realize the person they are talking to is someone they'd had a horrible experience with on the Daily Paul.

Not to take this thread down a different path, but to answer your question.

We discuss who is ill or passed away and say a prayer for them.

We discuss the next charitable event and who can help with it. (things like bell ringing for the Salvation Army, donation drive for a woman's shelter, etc.)

We discuss new applicants and vote to bring them in. It is very rare that someone is not approved, two masons have already vouched for them on their application.

If we have an approved applicant we initiate them. If someone is ready for another degree we do that.

We discuss if another Lodge needs help with anything and who can help.

We discuss how much money the bills cost, if we need to fix the heater, roof, etc.

We remind ourselves to hold ourselves to the highest moral standard in all things.

We adjourn and have something to eat and drink. No alcohol is permitted in the Lodge.

We go home to our families.

It's a Freedom Forum anymore

It's like cable, you have the choice to pick your thread (channel), I don't go to the ones that are about CHRISTIANS, or MASONS etc. Sometimes I log in and have to take the long road to get to the longer list of topics on the "more" option, but that's okay.

I feel like we are blogging and not taking action, but I am not going to point fingers. I miss the spirit we had here in the past, but I guess it's to be expected.

I have had two full pledged emotional breakdowns with people on this site, the day Ron Paul "suspended" his campaign and the day the finaled the "bail-out" both sent me into emotional places where I felt like someone died. If anyone is going through what I did and still am we need to give each other some room. Everyone grieves differently and at their own pacel

This is not meant to beat you down, I love your posts. It's just meant to remind you that some of us are grasping for whatever we can right now - right or wrong....

!!!Truth is treason in the EMPIRE OF LIES!!!

" Single acts of tyranny may be ascribed to the accidental opinion of they day; but a series of oppresssions...pursued unalterably, through every change of ministers, too plainly proove delibrate, systematical plan of reducing us to slavery..."

This happens every something big is going on.

I think it is to distract us.

I agree with your

I agree with your theory...some of it's just human nature, but not all of it. We definitely have some infiltrators here.
