Hyperinflation is a while off.

Deflation now, hyperinflation in at least a few years. Right now, as businesses lay people off left and right, it's a self-propagating cycle. More people without jobs, more people saving money, more layoffs, repeat.

Banks are not stupid; this financial crisis was engineered to reap maximum benefit while transferring wealth. If they begin loaning out like crazy and overleveraging again, they don't see any return--especially since no one in foreign countries (i.e. China / India, etc.) is stupid enough to buy their new derivatives or their securitized loans. The businesses that take loans and don't pay them back will still be a loss for the banks. And, this also means that they will implode. Banks have employees -- executives, branch workers, regional managers, etc. -- if you let the currency hyperinflate, the fortunates of the rich are also worth a helluva lot less and your employees can't make ends meet. The entire bank would just crumble and that means no more value. You're stuck with billions - trillions of worthless dollars in your account.

Let's just assume you were a rich investment banker (not necessarily in the circle of power, but just a regular guy who went to a decent school and is working in I-banking and amassed a bunch of money); it would be in your best interest for money to deflate. Why? Your money is now worth MORE. As states go bankrupt as well as the federal government, they need capital. How will they get it? Sell off assets. To whom? Private capital. In order to create a fascist state, you pretty much have to remove power from public entities. As the desperate politicians struggle to keep their power and positions, they will be forced to sell off their country piece by piece to private people and firms. This can't happen in an ultra hyperinflationary environment. Therefore, I predict that hyperinflation will happen AFTER these various "public-private partnerships" take root.

Then, the people will have no choice but to be at the mercy of these private corporations that are all subservient to the NWO masters that run the banks behind the new fascist state government.
