79% of the registered voters in the United States believe it would be a better idea to spend $30 billion dollars to bail out most homeowners who can’t pay their mortgages, rather than to spend $700 billion to bail out bankers, according to a scientific poll released today. The poll was conducted by Voice Broadcasting, Inc. out of Arlington, Texas, and was commissioned by the Kevin Barrett for congress campaign. The poll was conducted on October 14 and 15, 2008.
The exact wording of the poll question was:
“It will cost the taxpayers more than 700 billion dollars to bail out the bankers. But for only 30 billion dollars, we could bail out most of the people who can't pay their mortgages. Who would you rather bail out, the bankers or the people?”
The statistical margin of error for the poll question was 3.7%.
Kevin Barrett says:
“This poll proves that the republicrats are out of touch with the people. It’s time to elect Libertarians, Independents, and Third party candidates to congress.”

I agree it would be better
I agree it would be better then bailing out the banks however it would still inflate the economy and keep the banks and fiat system in place. But at least people wouldn't be put out of their homes.
A better idea would be to pass a law forgiving all mortgages and cutting taxes. That would put most banks out of business and we could start over. People would not worry about getting put out of their house and would start businesses etc. it would stimulate the economy better then anything else.
There would still be some pain but it would be shorter lived. However that will never happen because our so called representatives will continue pimping for their financial masters while we sink into depression and civil unrest. Those bastards don't even realize how bad it will get and that they will be blamed and sought out to be held accountable for their deeds

I don't agree with helping any of these people.
I have sacrificed and lived within my means most of my life. For the first time I am in debt, but it was my decision. Just like it was the decision of the bankers and mortgage holders to do the business they did. No one is going to bail me out if I fail. So why should I be forced to bail out anyone else? We have to be strong, and let these people pay for their own mistakes, instead of making others pay for them. All we are doing is creating a situation where we encourage people to be incompetent and/or criminal. We are going to have to keep on bailing until WE lose everything. Even Dr. Paul says to let the bad debt go.
Right
I have no debt and no mortgage - paid it all off. So why should I pay the way for others? That is communism and not a Republic.

But it doesn't really solve
But it doesn't really solve the underlying problem. And you will not be paying for these people they will print the money . Your taxes don't even pay the interest on the debt. It's all big fraud based on credit including your mortgage and it keep us under their control.
People who don't have a mortgage are less worried then those who do. keeping people in their homes will be much better then bailing out banks but still won't solve the problem.

A libertarian with a brain
Taking a popular position at an appropriate time (bail out homeowners). A position which while not purist libertarian, would cost our country and people far less than the crooked alternative we are offered, and ultimately would thus preserve the liberty, power, and rights of far more of our citizenry than screaming "HELP NO ONE!".
Then
You don't understand what a Republic is or is all about. I don't care what party affiliation anyone has - if they aren't for the Constitution then they are against the Constitution and they have sworn an oath to serve, protect and defend the Constitution. This is simple logic. That's why government run schools have polluted minds.

I do
I understand what a Republic is. I also understand what our Reality is. Let's work to make a better Reality, not a better ideological construct existing purely in our own heads because we can't find a way to compromise and play well with others.
Here we go again....
"A Democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only last until the citizens discover they can vote themselves largesse out of the public treasury. After that, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that the Democracy always collapses over a loose fiscal policy, to be followed by a dictatorship, and then a monarchy."

Are we laying the foundation for a new Hitler?
What we have with the
What we have with the bailout is even worse. The ruling elite have figured out that they can manipulate the citizens into voting themselves [the ruling elite] largesse from the public treasury, and they can do it right before an election!

Amen Dalesvp
We are a Republic and not a majority rule. A Republic is a representative form of government. A good example is the bailout. About 86% of Americans opposed the bailout (Democracy) yet Congress voted in the bailout. So what recourse do people have? Find another representative at the ballot box.

It says in the article that Barrett opposes the bailout. But now that congress has voted to dole out $700 billion, Barrett would like to see $30 billion of that to help get most people out of foreclosure.

Excellent...
Notice how only 17% had heard of World Trade Center 7, the 47-story steel-framed skyscraper that collapsed at near-free fall speed, nearly symmetrically into its own footprint at 5:20 PM ET, 9/11/2001, although it was not struck by an aircraft.
I didn't know about WTC7 until 2006.
And some people claim that there has been no blackout of 9/11 Truth in the "mainstream" media? Joke.
