Zeitgeist Addendum - A Communist plant to divide and conquer - Ed Griffin speaks out!
Here is G. Edward Griffin's reply to someone asking his opinion on "Zeitgeist Addendum"
Jonathan, I don’t like to criticize anything that is helping to spread the truth about the Federal Reserve and 9/11 but I must agree with the substance of what you have said about this video. I watched it two nights ago and was deeply disturbed by its message. At first, I thought it would be best to just let it play itself out in expectation that most viewers would cross it off as whacky. However, the production value is high, the effects and sound score are compelling, and there is enough truth embedded in the beginning to capture the attention and possibly the trust of many within the freedom movement. So here are my comments on a few items of concern:
1. The information about the Federal Reserve is, for the most part, right on target. However, I practically fell out of my chair when the program repeated that old, silly argument about the Fed not creating enough money to cover the cost of interest on debt; and, therefore, the world must forever be in debt. I knew right there that the writer did not read The Creature from Jekyll Island or, if he did, he forgot my analysis of this common myth. For those who are interested in that topic, it is fund on pages 191-192 of The Creature.
2. The next jolt came when the program praised Civil War Greenbacks, calling them debt-free. Actually, Greenbacks were contrary to the U.S. Constitution and, although they were not fiat money issued by the banks, they were fiat money issued by the government. That was better than paying interest on nothing to bankers, but they still wiped out the purchasing power of American money through massive inflation. They can not correctly be called debt-free, either, because they represented debt on the shoulders of the government, which means, of course, on the shoulders of the taxpayers. It never ceases to amaze me how people think that the solution to money created out of nothing by those big, bad bankers is to have money created out of nothing by those nice, trustworthy politicians. Yet, that is what this program supports.
3. There is a lengthy segment in which the author of I Was an Economic Hit Man, John Perkins, tells the story of how propagandists in the U.S. manipulated public opinion to support military action against several Latin American countries. Then Perkins says that these propagandists scared Americans by telling them that the leaders of these countries were Marxists who were aligned with the Soviets. This, of course, is a half truth that is just as dangerous as a total lie. It is true about the propagandists and their strategy to scare the public into supporting military intervention in those countries, but it is false to portray those dictators as great humanitarians who cared only for the well being of their people. That is total bunk. They WERE aligned with the Soviet Union and they WERE part of a Marxist/Leninist strategy to dominate Latin America; a strategy that continues to this day.
A d v e r t i s e m e n t
There was plenty not to like on both sides of that struggle, but objective historians would never depict the Rhodesians (the CFR crowd in the U.S.) as bad guys but depict the Soviet puppets as good guys. In his book, Perkins reveals this same slant. He exposes the foul tactics of international corporations, the IMF, and World Bank, but he never mentions a Leftist dictator, such as Fidel Castro or Hugo Chavez without praising them. Perkins is a collectivist aligned with the Left, and that strongly influences his telling of this story. Yet the producers of the video make no mention of this bias and give him an inordinate amount of time to present his slanted view without challenge.
4. Perhaps the biggest insult to our intelligence is the main theme of the program. It is that profits are the root of all our problems today. That being the case, we must change mankind to reject profit and we must work together on some other basis. It is never quite clear what that basis is, but, whatever it is, it will be administered and directed by an elite group, at least in the beginning. I was stunned by the fact that this is pure Marxism. Marx theorized that people had to be re-educated (in labor camps, if necessary) to cleanse their minds of the profit motive. He and his disciples, such as Lenin and Stalin and Khruschev, said that, eventually, the character of man would be purged of greed, and then the state would wither away because it no longer would be needed. Sure! We saw that in the Soviet Union and China, right? Yet this Marxist nonsense is exactly what is offered in this video program. It is Communism without using the name.
The profit motive is neither good nor bad. It can be applied either way depending on social and political factors. The desire for profit is merely the desire to be compensated for our labor, our creativity, our knowledge, or even for our risk. Without profit, very little would be accomplished in the world - not even if everyone spent a few years in labor camps to be re-educated. It is a basic part of man’s nature and is the mainspring of human progress, as Henry Grady Weaver described it in his book by that same title. Throughout history, whenever man lived in a system that allows him to be rewarded for his work, there has been great productivity and abundance. By contrast, where social engineers gained control of the state and restricted people from receiving the fruits of their labor, productivity fell, and scarcity was the norm.
The profit motive functions differently in different political systems. In a free system where government does not intervene in the market place, the profit motive always will manifest itself as competition, each person or each company trying to deliver better quality products and services at lower prices. That was how it used to be in the early days of America, and that is what led to the greatest outpouring of productivity and abundance the world has ever seen. However, in a collectivist system where government controls every conceivable aspect of economic and commercial activity (the system that now exists in America), the profit motive always manifests itself as a quest for political influence and laws to favor one group over another. The net effect is to eliminate competition in the market place. Under collectivism, success is achieved, not by creating better products and services for less cost, but by controlling legislators and government agencies. It is a system of legalized plunder, as Frederic Bastiat called it in his famous treatise, The Law. Unfortunately, it is the system that dominates most of the world today.
Zeitgeist Addendum ignores this reality. At one point the narrator even says that the greatest evil in the world today is "the free enterprise system." That’s an incredible statement, especially inasmuch as the free enterprise system has been dead for several decades. It lives in name only. The whole world now is in the grips of non-competitive monopolies and cartels that have forged partnerships with governments. All of the evils to which this program alludes are the result, not of the free enterprise system, but of the abandonment of free enterprise and the adoption of collectivism. This program creates a mythological boogeyman and then advocates more of the very thing that has brought us to the mess we are in today.
The enemy of mankind is not profit. It is a political system of big government. Yet, this program is supportive of some of the most notable big-government collectivist on the planet. Marxist/Leninists may be enemies of collectivists in Washington, DC, but they are collectivists in their own right. The Communist model is no better than the Nazi model.
There is much more that could be said about other program topics such as technology supposedly being our salvation, about the a future world in which no one has to work, and about common ownership of land, oceans, natural resources, etc. but, for the most part, these merely are sub issues to the ones already described, so I will spare my readers the pain of further discourse.
In summary, this program does NOT offer a cure. It offers a mega dose of the disease itself.

The Problem
The problem with Zeitgeist, in all its versions, is that it is filled with some truth and a lot of pure garbage.
There is no lie more dangerous than a half-truth

Can someone quickly explain what Mr. Griffin wrote on pages 191-192 of his book? I don't have a copy of that book. The reason is, in the next few days it is a good thing if I could cross-check my understanding of the issue as he explains it... Thanks !...
explainith 191-192
Basically what he is saying on pages 191-192 is that it is a partial truth that there is not enough money created to include the interest, but it is a fallacy that the only way to pay it back is to borrow more.
I am a human becoming, help me to become.
It is valid and here is the short of it...
But I believe his statements just further clarify the issue, and doesn't truly disprove the interest statement.
If I loan you money $100 to start a janitor business, at 10% interest, and you decide to take a janitor job for me paying $20 a month (keeping the math simple). You will in effect, use your labor to "create" the interest payment as well as principle.
And therefore while no new money was created, the labor in effect covered the cost of interest, and therefore there isn't the infinite balloon that ZAddendum talks about. Because regardless of how big or small that circle is, we all ultimately pay the banks in labor because of interest.
However, I believe that the infinite interest is a valid point in the sense that it shows our inevitable slide into absolute slavery as clarified by Griffin's remarks.

I've held my tounge for a while regarding "Zeitgeist", and didn't want to rush to judgement before having a chance to digest it properly. I have to say that from the word go, that little alarm bells were going off in my head (even before I watched it) for some reason or other, and I've learned to trust my gut instincts more and more. It was the same queasy feeling I got regarding Bob Barr when all of the pro-Barr crap started showing up here.
I did give it a chance, because I am for anything that helps expose the truth of 9/11 and the NWO plans, but ultimately I have to agree with the analysis of this post. I think that it's another disinfo tool. Use just enough truth to hook 'em and then promote your subtle Socialist/NWO agenda. The NWO is very skilled at psycological manipulation and psyops operations. I think that Zeitgeist is just another example of "if you can't convince them, divide distract and confuse them." I do not support Zeitgeist or it's agenda, and now have an innate distrust for the posters promoting it here on the DP.

Yep, Doc you nailed it
They already know what subjects get our attention and the cat is pretty much out of the bag on most of this as far as 9/11, NWO so nothing to lose there. Then they subtly bring in the rest of the agenda thinking we will be mesmerized because we finally have someone on our side exposing the lies while they feed us more. Maybe it is some kind of test here. First Bob Barr blasted night and day, and now this.
Yes, exactly. People are
Yes, exactly. People are getting smarter (or at least the internet has made much more info available) and as you say, the cat's out of the bag on 9/11 etc. The tactics are more subtle, and it's certainly easier to manipulate others when you use a good deal of truth to mask your primary objective. I start getting suspicious when something like this starts including spiritual/religous undercurrents. If you can't stick to the simple facts and ideas strongly supported by scientific evidence and logic, then you have an agenda.... it's that simple.

Great post
It confirms what most of us have been saying. Very interesting that this movie is coming out now, and who is it targeting? It could very well be one more diversion for any revolutionary groups against the NWO, like here, even though that is what this would be thinly veiled, ironically. Whatever their purpose, it is the antheisis of Ron Pauls ideals for government and our country whether he is the person to lead us into it or not.
Pretty simple really.
You just sit down and imagine that everything is going to work.
In our imaginations, we'll have this and we'll have that, and it will all be free for the taking, and everything will be just as we imagine.
Nasty stuff like things not working, or reality getting in the way, are simply not contemplated in our imaginary world. Everything just happens exactly the way we dream..
Wouldn't it be great?
You should all get right on board, and by the way, you need to sack that old useless Constitution and your outmoded religion and belief system, and become part of our "new way of thinking and understanding".
We assure you that it will all be just perfect.
I'm seeing stars...
Thank you for enlightening me, comrade. It's a Glorious Revolution that "Peter Joseph" has started for us isn't it?
We really are only limited by Peter Joseph's and the Z-Cult's collective vision of Utopia.

"...a nation that is afraid to let its people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is a nation that is afraid of its people." -John F. Kennedy
Well I loved the Zadendum and thought it was brilliant
But that said, I did find fault.
Where I found fault -- in addition to the above by Ed Griffin--was the failure to realize that money itself is a technology, a technology created by man naturally in marketplace. Further, it is a technology that has been co-opted again and again by govts to gain control over the marketplace, and inturn marketplace actors try to take over govt, and it spirals ever on in an arms race for power.
Next problem I had was its failure to realize that the way out of the Tradgety of the Commons, was and is Private Property. Man's failure to apply legal private property rights in many areas has resulted in the devistation of ecosystems and wildlife. There is such a thing as FreeMarket Environmentalists, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free-market_environmentalism
yet socialist-environmentalists which rule the day clearly have a collectivist agenda.
I like the author of Zadendum. I think if we do not take an attacking attitude, but instead an inquisitive intellectual one, we will get much further.
On various pro Zblogs, I often start off recounting what I like about the film. Then later I state that I have questions about this, this, this, and this. Then I state, because I think this, this, this, and this, I must really think through these ideas or assumptions that Zadendum's author put out. Then I suggest, he himself leaves room for change and adjustment based on new understandings of old ideas that may appear in a new light.
Ed brings up the best point above, which is I think the argument from "Man's Nature". Evolutionary sciences have really circled or outlined what this IS, not what we want it to be or think it to be, but what it IS. See Steven Pinker's The Blank Slate. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Blank_Slate So we can go gentle upon people who venture outside of what Man's nature entails and offer up a Utopian Vision. Credit them for "trying" and credit them for "thinking outside the box" but remind them, inorder to truly come up with something useful, it must be within what we know to be Man's Nature.

Does it concern anyone else that "Peter Joseph" is trying to start his own personal religion? Because that's part of the "Zeitgeist" Fabian-Marxist brainwashing contained therein--they're going to rid the world of the scourge of "religion" and substitute their own state-run religion. This despite their insistence of a lack of necessity of a state in their marxist utopia. Call it anarcho-collectivist theosophy.
I call it an NWO co-opted-cult getting underway with "Peter Joseph" as Jim Jones this time around.

They are prepping us to accept the religion of the NWO
Looks like what Albert Pike wrote about:
After World War Three is ended:
"We shall unleash the Nihilists and Atheists, and we shall provoke a formidable social cataclysm which in all its horror will show clearly to the nations the effect of absolute atheism, origin of savagery and of the most bloody turmoil. Then everywhere, the citizens, obliged to defend themselves against the world minority of revolutionaries, will exterminate those destroyers of civilization, and the multitude, disillusioned with Christianity, whose deistic spirits will be from that moment without compass (direction), anxious for an ideal, but with out knowing where to render its adoration, will receive the true light through the universal manifestation of the PURE DOCTRINE OF LUCIFER, BROUGHT FINALLY OUT IN THE PUBLIC VIEW, a manifestation which will result from the general reactionary movement which will follow the destruction of Christianity and atheism, both conquered and exterminated at the same time"

Yeah, it's pretty much a new faith. A Faith in Technology.
Somewhat ironic that the name of the author is Peter Joseph, when he's obviously anti-Christian.
It's contradicting when it claims to be anti-religious, yet it preaches a new religion centered around technology saving us all.

What's the Zeitgeist view on private property?
Can people still own property?
Would there be any restrictions as to what type of property can be owned?
Would there be any restrictions as to how much of any type of property can be owned?
Can people still make contracts with each other?
Property is a resource....
So, I think you just hit the nail on the head and they won't respond because of it.
All forms of property are resources. They use the word resource to keep from scaring people. But metals, land, gems, etc... EVERYTHING is a "resource". They wish to abolish property, and property rights and replace it with communal ownership...
i.e. Communism.
To see the similarities, read the Communist Manifesto. You will find that they actually say the exact same things.

This sounds like some of the more wacky arguments of the "commercial redemption" crowd... since HJR192 passed in 1933 and they took away our gold, there is no real money, only credit on the backs of every American citizen who either willingly (or in most cases unknowingly) signs on to be a citizen of USA, Inc. via the birth certificate, SSN#, etc. Therefor, everything is PREPAID, and all you have to do is sign for it (by taking out loans and defaulting on them, writing bad checks on closed accounts, etc.)...
The latest and greatest tool in their toolbox is the use of the 1099-OID form, which apparently the IRS has issued for the sole purpose of redeeming your credit via the US Treasury's bond on your birth certificate. I've actually heard them say that the "system" is working just fine, you just have to know how to work it!
Uh, yeah... right.

Who is John Galt? Vote ███ ███ 2012!
I'm gonna repost my thoughts
Below is how I view the movie. Someone posted some questions below that I addressed and I'll just reissue them here so if anyone wants to discuss then they can.
1)how do they recondition people?
No one is "reconditioned". Would you rather pay $1,000 a month for electricity or $1,000 once to build a power plant that supplied renewable electricity for the rest of your life (but the hard part is getting 100 or so of your neighbors onboard with the program)? It'll come down to choosing between those two types of choices-the same thing for transportation, housing and food.
2)How are they gonna destroy all weapons?
No weapons are gonna be destroyed. Why would anyone need to protect their valuables when no one could profit from selling them? There's gonna be a transitional period, and no one said it'll be easy. I'm sure there are some crackpots that'll try to bomb the living daylights out of people who want to live off the grid. But, in the meantime no one anywhere in the movie said anything about taking weapons.
3) Who gets to assume this mantle of control?
EVERYONE. It's a totally decentralized, pro sovereignty position. Instead of waking up and seeing stock projections, you wake up and see how much energy the power plant created, how much food the agricultural center created, how much energy your house consumed. There will be no restrictions because the earth can supply everything everyone needs if we support the renewable technologies and stop promoting artificial scarcity. Here's an example of artificial scarcity everyone knows-They started shutting down refiniries for oil in the seventies to make it more scare thereby increasing the price of oil and boosting the value of the dollar (tied to oil in 1971 thanks to Kissinger). The price of oil and the value of the dollar rose so some wealthy people could get more wealthy and then we had the OPEC debacle in the Carter Administration which led to gas riots and ARTIFICIAL SCARCITY. The same thing has happened with diamonds-it's a semi precious stone at best, but the DeBeers family, among others, are hoarding them.
So now you have to ask yourself is scarcity real or artificial. If you think scarcity is real then you'll never see the point of the film.
4) How do you decide how much the earth can support?
Like I said earlier, no one said anything about depopulation or eliminating anyone. The movie did talk about extending communities into the sea and allowing the natural resources of the earth dictate how many people can live on the earth. That might scare people cause they see that as a restriction. Like I said earlier either you see the earth as having real or artificial scarcity. If you think humans collaborating with each other would just produce scarcity then this movie is not for you. If you think we would produce abundance from the infinite resources found on earth then you should be able to see only the individual sets limits on their universe.
