Torturing Democracy: PBS Movie Depicting Bush Administrations Crimes
I just spent the last couple of hours watching this and it's a very concise depiction of the Crimes perpetrated By George Bush and Dick Cheney against the Laws of the Geneva Convention, the laws of decency, and the laws of the Constitution.

But mostly just disturbing even if you think you know what was happening during Bush's terms, you probably really have no idea what was taking place until you watch this film.
PBS has been instructed not to show this film until Bush leaves office.
I can see this being used in the prosecution of George Bush, Dick Cheney and everyone else involved.

This drama is given as a distraction.
It is part of a cover up of bigger crimes by the Bush-Cheney administration while revealing something else to give the public something to think about.
It is meant to distract from the real issues that are going on right now in the global economy.
Note who financed it, all the big money such as Ford. Sound right to you? Something suspicious here?

How about the PBS 9/11 scientists and engineers documentary? Or the Federal Reserve documentary? Or the New World Order documentary?
This is just a little poke of a distraction, on their way out the door, rather than the arrest and prosecution they deserve.

I am more concerned about
I am more concerned about our taking responsibility for this disgraceful lawlessness as a nation than I am about prosecuting the perpetrators.
The least we must do, I think, is support a fact-finding investigation, even if prosecution is explicitly not the goal. That said, I believe that justice will not be properly served until those responsible face a criminal trial under US law -- but in light of how impractical that goal may be, a fact-finding investigation would be a step in the right direction.
Anyone agree? I am open to all persuasive argument.

folks here have DIRECT TV satellite, but staion 375 LINK TV is better than even the old PBS. It is true independent TV. I encourage everyone to check it out.

This film is suspect
The film appears to be a whitewash. It is too simplistic as are all whitewashed "we'll investigate ourselves" comedy skits. It does not include the many Neocons and their propaganda publications who beat their torture drums incessantly. It promotes the lie 19 Arabs perpetrated 9/11 all by themselves. The film is suspect even though it purports to present new and damning information. The war on Iraq was promoted as a treasonous fraud and all those promoting and supporting same are equally guilty. To isolate out just the torture part is sweeping the rest of the rotting carcass under the already over used and lumpy rug.

Very educational. I learned about events and people that I didn't know before. And it showed me more of the people who need to be tried for treason. Worth watching.

About 12 hours ago - it's still on my mind. I have not seen any documentary that puts the crimes of this President in such chronilogical order and explores (with evidence) the intent of this Administration so well. I will say I was honestly frightened. Don't let the title stop you from watching.

The basic understanding should be that as a result of torturing prisoners this way, not only does it encourage them to give out false information, but it will result in more hatred towards our country and our own military being tortured in the exact same ways or worse.

The only way for Bush to declare dictatorship
is if there's another terrorist attack on America. If even 1 bomb goes off prior to elections, no matter how big or small, that's it. America is over and elections can be cancelled for everyone's safety. We've got soldiers out there to enforce martial law and game over.
Plus, if, say they had several bombs go off all over the place then everyone would actually be begging Bush to do something and they would be grateful for the suspension of elections so as to prevent a high body count. The argument made would be easy: People in long lines are an easy target, so for the safety of our nation, we have to cancel elections.

Actually cancelling the elections could cause unrest and the people to stand up. Those in charge will keep the elections, electricity, and tv propaganda going so the people will be calm.
If state/local municipalities start to default on their bonds, we may have an opportunity for an economic uprising.

If Dr. Paul was still in the race...
....and posing a significant threat (which wouldn't be hard since the bailout) I would not have been surprised to see a "national emergency" and canceled elections.
It doesn't have to be a terrorist attack...the stage is set for any number of things to "justify" dictatorial power. In fact, they way things are worded, one could spin just about anything to qualify as a national emergency, including the crashing of the dollar.
Oh well. Just keep on spreading the truth.
