Obama Accepts Endorsement of War Criminal

Come, let's away to prison:
We two alone will sing like birds i' the cage:
When thou dost ask me blessing, I'll kneel down,
And ask of thee forgiveness: so we'll live,
And pray, and sing, and tell old tales, and laugh
At gilded butterflies, and hear poor rogues
Talk of court news; and we'll talk with them too,
Who loses and who wins; who's in, who's out;
And take upon's the mystery of things,
As if we were God's spies: and we'll wear out,
In a wall'd prison, packs and sects of great ones,
That ebb and flow by the moon.
I.
Democratic Party circles are in raptures over Colin Powell's endorsement of Barack Obama. One can see the heavily-blinkered logic behind their elation; now that our national politics has been reduced to a petty squabble over spoils among shifting factions in the imperial court, a nod from a consummate courtier like Powell is indeed a glittering prize for an ambitious prince.
But out in the real world, where the operations of imperial power have left smoking trails of murder and ruin across the globe, the "endorsement" of a man who played an indispensable role in the slaughter of more than a million innocent people in a war of Hitlerian aggression should be regarded as a thing of shame, and vociferously rejected by anyone with a scintilla of honor or morality.

President George W. Bush and seven of his administration's top officials, including Vice President Dick Cheney, National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice, and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, made at least 935 false statements in the two years following September 11, 2001, about the national security threat posed by Saddam Hussein's Iraq. Nearly five years after the U.S. invasion of Iraq, an exhaustive examination of the record shows that the statements were part of an orchestrated campaign that effectively galvanized public opinion and, in the process, led the nation to war under decidedly false pretenses.
On at least 532 separate occasions (in speeches, briefings, interviews, testimony, and the like), Bush and these three key officials, along with Secretary of State Colin Powell, Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz, and White House press secretaries Ari Fleischer and Scott McClellan, stated unequivocally that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction (or was trying to produce or obtain them), links to Al Qaeda, or both. This concerted effort was the underpinning of the Bush administration's case for war.
This reaffirms my assertion that the Obomba Koolaid drinkers are the Neo-NeoCons. Look at how easily they are embracing the war criminal Powell because their Dear Leader has welcomed him with open arms. How else will they be manipulated and used in a possible Obomba Administration? The mind reels.
It is even more disconcerting when you consider that "Uncle Joe" Biden is making the rounds warning the blue-mustached chattel of a "generated" international crisis to be handled by an incoming Obomba Administration.

Scumbag
Remember the mysterious "Desert Storm Syndrome"? Yeah - General Powell blocked investigations and won't even acknowledge it as a problem. When asked, he just says that it is still a mystery. Well, it's called Depleted Uranium and the current occupation is going to be tenfold what Desert Storm resulted in. That means over a hundred thousand soldiers and marines are going to die a painful death in a few years. How's that for a military leader taking care of his troops?!

“The most important element of a free society, where individual rights are held in the highest esteem, is the rejection of the initiation of violence.” Dr. Ron Paul
To be fair...
Colin Powell was used and abused by the Bush administration.
The intelligence in the "WMD" speech at the UN he was told had been vetted by George Tenet and was "true". He argued in vain AGAINST the Rumsfield war plan. Ever heard of the "Powell Doctrine"?
Is a vital national security interest threatened?
Do we have a clear attainable objective?
Have the risks and costs been fully and frankly analyzed?
Have all other non-violent policy means been fully exhausted?
Is there a plausible exit strategy to avoid endless entanglement?
Have the consequences of our action been fully considered?
Is the action supported by the American people?
Do we have genuine broad international support?
Yes he went to the UN to make the case, but he disagreed with how Iraq was handled from the beginning. You need to remember that the UN speech was made in order to get an explicit vote of support from the international community, thus fufilling the last criterion.
The Bush Administration used Gen Powell for his reputation and then told him to sit down and shut up. If you recall he left the administration after the first term furious with what had happened. He isn't a politician, he's a soldier.
Powell Doctrine is an interventionist foreign policy
In his dramatic presentation to the United Nations Security Council on February 5, 2003, Secretary of State Colin L. Powell said: "My colleagues, every statement I make today is backed up by sources, solid sources. These are not assertions. What we're giving you are facts and conclusions based on solid intelligence. I will cite some examples, and these are from human sources." In preparation for his presentation, Powell had spent a week at Central Intelligence Agency headquarters sifting through intelligence.
One of the "human sources" that Powell referenced turned out to be "Curveball," whom U.S. intelligence officials had never even spoken to. "My mouth hung open when I saw Colin Powell use information from Curveball," Tyler Drumheller, the CIA's chief of covert operations in Europe, later recalled. "It was like cognitive dissonance. Maybe, I thought, my government has something more. But it scared me deeply."
In his presentation to the U.N. Security Council, Powell described another of the human sources as "a senior terrorist operative telling how Iraq provided training in these weapons [of mass destruction] to Al Qaeda." Six days earlier, however, the CIA itself had come to the conclusion that this source, a detainee, "was not in a position to know if any training had taken place."
In a report completed in 2004, the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence concluded: "Much of the information provided or cleared by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) for inclusion in Secretary Powell's speech was overstated, misleading, or incorrect."

Covering up War Crimes is Powell's M.O.
Bottom line: he thoroughly believes in an interventionist foreign policy. Just a War Party apparatchik.
Now I understand that Powell put the kibosh on a report about brutality against civilians while serving in Vietnam as an executive officer.
Also, turns out Powell was an instrumental player in the Iran-Contra plot.
Excuse me, I feel that the man has little if any honor.
The Truth About War Criminal Powell
By the way, if it was just honest mistakes that led Powell to lie, how has this "honorable" man atoned for lying and for the war crimes that have resulted in part from his lies?

Colin Powell is a WMD nutcase
EXACTLY! (as someone already said)
One of the main things that made Obama famous was his clear stand against the Iraq invasion. And then Obama proudly accepts the endorsement of Colin Powell and is "humbled" by it. I'm no historian, but I suspect that may be the biggest flip-flop in U.S. history.
Exactly!
Yesterday, I called Powell a "coward" and a liar in front of people whose leanings I did not know, but I could tell by their reaction that I shocked them to say what I did. But it is the truth! That he has laid low since the disinformation he promulgated and now comes out endorsing the Kenyan-born Marxist speaks volumes about the kind of person Colin Powell really is...and it ain't pretty. A coward and a liar. What a disgusting combo, yet one seems to go with the other...
