I love the fact how most of the oil and natural gas comes through Louisiana but We pay more. I can understand California but Louisiana thats a stinking joke.

25% of the nation's oil supplies come from my state

and we pay over a dollar more per gallon of gasoline than the national average.

Makes one seriously wonder "WTF?"

RP2012!

$1.20 per liter

Down from $1.39/L here in Saskatchewan where I now live. And there are 3.78 liters in a gallon. We've not seen the drastic price shifts you have. Be glad you're in the States!

When I travelled through the YT last summer

I paid no less than $1.79 per litre.

It was astonishing. I can remember when a gallon cost $1.79! LOL.

Seasonal

Gas always goes down after Labor Day.

It's at least partially a seasonal adjustment, the theory being that people aren't doing all the extra traveling they do during the summer. Which makes sense, they're back to school and the days are getting shorter.

I heard about this decades ago, but I'm sure there are statistics somewhere.

I am interested in knowing why they are coming down. Could it be the election? You know make America "feel good" for a little while so they aren't so "worried". What do you think?

Gas storage?

At the store I have probably 30-40 old 5 gallon buckets that hyd fluid came in. Have any of you ever used an old hyd. fluid bucket to store gas (with a stabilizer), they have the tops still intact and the caps still intact. Any ideas on how to clean them out prior to putting gas in?

Thank you Dr. Paul for making my act on what I already knew was right.

*May the only ones to touch your junk, be the ones you want to touch your junk.*

Use gasoline to clean them

Fill up your first bucket with 2 gallons of gas, swish it around, transfer it to the next one, swish it around, continue until you've transferred the gas through every bucket. Repeat once, and you'll dissolve enough of the hydralic oil that it won't matter. Take the leftover 4 gallons and dispose how you see most fun (I would recommend playing target practice with a roman candle)

Seriously, you may be running afoul of some laws dispensing gas into plastic buckets, and it's probably not the safest thing to be doing.

I would recommend either ponying up the dough to buy a steel storage tank or accepting that you're at the mercy of the pump price.

That's a hard call - if the global economy keeps going down, oil will keep going down (without a price-fixing move at the OPEC meeting Friday), and gas should go down further. But who knows?

It may

But don't try storing it unless you add some stabilizer chemicals. Gas has a pretty short shelf life if you don't stabilize it.
