Help Ron Paul Raise $10 Million

There is a pledge going around to raise $10 million for Ron Paul by September 16th:

Raise 10 Million for Ron Paul

The goal is for 10,000 people to donate $1,000. When I first saw it, I was skeptical. A thousand bucks is a lot of money, and 10,000 - is a lot of people.

But then I got to thinking - this is not much at all! Three months is ninety days...which works out to about $11 and change per day per person. That's about what it costs to have lunch and a coffee these days (at least in Boston - it is expensive out here!). Not that I go out to lunch every day, of course - but the point is that for most people to make this kind of donation, it will require some kind of sacrifice. But that is okay by me, because to sacrifice means to make sacred.

I think that most Americans, and most citizens throughout the world would agree that the principles America was founded upon are sacred - worthy of our deep reverence and respect.

As a nation, we're losing sight of the original vision and goal. Ron Paul is one of the few bright candles to have kept the flame of liberty burning. He is our last, best chance to return the country to its founding principles. If not him, then who? If not now, then when?

Considering the circumstances, I think we can all afford to make some sacrifices and come up with $1,000 by September, which is why I signed the petition, and I'm asking you to do the same.

To success, and the restoration of the Republic!

Thanks Paul

fund raising

I would hope that your efforts are successfull, however might not

a $25 to $50 contribution to a man that will eliminate taxes and the IRS, I think would gather widespread support through out this land.

A grassroots movement eliminates many donors at the higher money levels that are always requested .

I feel that many who support Ron Paul can afford and will send in $25 to $50. This may mean many Millions of people that have never contributed to any party or canidate will do so just to eliminate the tryanny of the Tax Code and the IRS and give Ron Paul the backing that can ensure a victory for LIBERTY and the restoration of our REPUBLIC.

I will now enter my $ 50 contribution with the knowledge that i can make a difference.

Please join me.

We can and will make Ron Paul the next President of these United States of America.

God Bless us all.

$50.00 Pledge

I agree Dan. I just for the first time ever, and I am 62, sent in $250.00 to the national campaign for Ron Paul for President 2008. We are spending so much out of our own pockets, gladly I might add, to see our local groups succeed in getting his name out there. Signs, flyers, banners, shirts, buttons, hats, bumper stickers, sponsering events and hours and hours of work. I am determined to do what ever I can to see RON PAUL in the White House. I want my grandchildren to have the liberty our founding fathers wrote about and planned out for us. It is not too late. How can we get more of us to at least send him the $25.00 you are suggesting? The net cannot and will not get him elected. We have to sacrifice. The pocket book it seems is the last place we dig into. Now is the time. The media will pay attention if the money shows up. All our videoes and signs are wonderful, but "money talks"!!! I am willing to join you in $50.00 more right now. How and where? PRAY FOR RON PAUL
Blessings,
cindy

Target unlikely to be met

I signed the pledge a while back but with only a few weeks to go and less than 300 people having signed I don't think we have much of a chance of meeting the targeted 10,000

$10 Million

Dr. Paul 2008 What is the update on this? It would be encouraging to see if and how the numbers are rising. Our groups here on Oahu are working on it. Hope to have some local figures to add to the pledge soon.
Aloha, cindy

We need a thermometer or some kinda progress indicator thingy

You see this often with the United Way etc but we need one on the website or somewhere. It gets people motivated.

well spent, right now I a monthly contributor and will continue
that until Ron Paul is in the White House.

I hope with the news I heard today from my nephews who were
once strong Republican Bushites, now they have seen Loose change
and are looking to helping Ron Paul win !!!!

Also I agree another Great Idea !!!! I am in Kansas City wish I was told to
help with the sign the answer would definitely be Yes !!!!!!

GOD be with you Dr. Paul !!!!!!!

Pledgebank

Using pledgebank, I got 10 people to sign up for $1,000 in about 10 days.

So between now and September 16th, that's about 8 weeks, we ought to be able to do the same.

YouTube subscribers

If every YouTube subscriber sent in $5.00 that would be over $11 million and counting. What the heck, make it the cost of a lunch or $10.00 for $22m+.

That's an excellent idea.

I'll be posting comments on the You Tube Video's regularly from now on.

YouTube is key

Tremendous. Let's post comments on RP's youtube videos.

If his youtube channel subscribers see "every Ron Paul subscriber give $10 and he'll have more cash than Guiliani" they WILL give $10, even the teenagers.

Imagine the news media: "Ron Paul reported today that he is the frontrunner in the Republican money race!"

What About MP3s

...the YouTube idea is terrific. How about a CD? Costs very little to burn now days. I was wondering if the RP musicians with all these great songs would be willing to have their songs put in down-loadable MP3 file format and we could set-up paypal or something on a few key sites. Interspersed with some Ron Paul sound bytes or key speeches, I bet everyone on this and other Ron Paul sites would buy a CD for $25 or $30. Besides, it would be great to have the music at rallys, picnics, farmer's market stands. Also, Meet-UP organizers could offer them for contributions at group meetings. Great stuff to listen to while making signs! Could be downloadable mp3s and a CD for selling off the net. Just a thought.

Note: Of course this would be a major contribution by the artists as well, but could get some rp-pr for them as well.

Thanks for posting this

I've been really pushing this petition, although I as yet haven't signed it. I'm still trying to figure out how I can swing it.

If Ron Paul was ellected, I'd make my money back in a year. But if he doesn't, I'll have the fedeal maffia breathing down my neck next year and I won't have money to pay them.

If Ron Paul raises $10 Million, I'm not sure it's enough to gaurentee him the election. I'd be willing to donate $2,000 if I knew my doing so would make sure he had about $30 million, $1,000 is at the point where I have to think about it as an investment, vs what I can afford to loose.

I have already donated about $125.

I'm thinking about signing this one.

There's also a $500 for 20,000 people one. I will be signing that one.

I don't think people should sign both unless they've got $1,500 to swing in case both succede.

Of course if both petitions succeded that would be $20,000,000 for Paul which would be even more of a guarente of his winning so I probably still could swing it in the long term.

On top of these petitions when they sucede -- if I sign them, I'm also cancling my 401K for the duration of the campaign and donating what I currently bring in from that to the campain.

don't forget who we're up against, though

It's us with our limited resources vs. the printing presses. So I don't think $$$ is going to decide this. It's going to be the people vs. Mammon, any way we slice it. I say don't worry too much about the $$$ and just make darn sure we get the message out to ***everyone***.

Not that we shouldn't donate; don't take me that way. Just offering some perspective in case Rockefeller suddenly puts Giuliani at, say, $5 billion, or something.

This is the clearest choice in the history of politics. Well, at least since Barabbas vs. Jesus.

Exponential Growth

Hello again ProspectorSam, I agree with your assessment but would like to add a few observations of my own. At times I think that maybe we shouldn’t be using this forum for some of these discussions. After all this is Michael’s website dedicated to Ron Paul.

However, I remind myself that all of these discussions add significantly to the overall exposure of this website by using more and more bandwidth (one of the measurements of website popularity). When I first joined this site just about 6 weeks ago, I remember there being only a few “users” and 20-40 “guest”. Look at it now; 17 users and 135 guests, in the middle of a Wednesday afternoon!

Also this website was barely registering in most of the web tracking services just 2 months ago. Alexa now shows a 66,454 rating which is a substantial increase of over 500,000 positions compared to all sites on the internet. That’s real measurable growth and remember this is just one website dedicated to Ron Paul, there are many many more. I tend to follow these stats in many different areas because frankly I have somewhat of an anal-retentive personality (and no, anal is a base of analyze, not asshole).

In my opinion, I do not think that we have reached anything close to exponential growth. While certain areas such as Meetup and YouTube may be getting close, in most areas the growth is still very linear.

My point to this rambling is to promote the idea that this pledge program should not be considered a failure just because it may not meet its somewhat optimistic goal of $10 million at least not from these pledges alone.

Many people are donating without making this pledge. My partner and I have donated about $400 so far, plus campaign material. I am donating $100 per month and she started donating $50 per month; we are both retired. I believe that many of us are making similar commitments and contributions. This “base of money” is importance as it allows new people and new money to add to this base rather than having to replace it. In other words, we do not have to start from scratch to find new contributors for the total amount of this quarter’s money raised.

Is raising $10 million possible for this quarter? I think it might be but I also think if it is reached it will come later in the quarter as more penetration into the “market” begins its exponential growth; if we can even reach exponential growth this quarter. At what point will we reach exponential growth? I really don’t know. It’s hard to judge the actual size of the voting public and at what percentage of penetration it will take to reach the “tipping point”. I do believe, however, that it will happen and maybe sooner than I think.

Finally ProspertorSam, you didn’t think I would post a response without trying to get in at least one zinger. ;-)

I found your last sentence about this being the “clearest political choice since Barabbas and Jesus” somewhat paradoxical.

If I remember correctly, that vote didn’t go to well, at least not for Jesus. It does point out however how manipulation of the general populace has the potential for a “wrong” vote. I hope our good Dr. has better luck!

Oh, and I just pushed this thread to the top of the “recent posts” for more exposure for the pledge drive. My job is done!

My last thought on the car

My last thought on the car wash idea. While the person is having their car washed and standing there waiting...it would be a great opportunity to pass out some Ron Paul info. Maybe sell some Ron Paul Tee shirts, caps, bumper stickers, etc. After all where can they go, with their car all full of suds...you would have a captive audience. LOL

Been there, done that

I signed the pledge last week.

The hard part will be getting another 9,900 people to do so in two months.

The financial choice for me was::

(1) An iPhone with the mandatory year of service, or

(2) Freedom.

Naturally, I went with (2).

What about the Meetup Groups

What about the Meetup Groups think up of some ways to have fund raising events like car washes for one...get the kids involved.

That is if it's legal to raise funds like this???

Michael Nystrom's picture

Legal

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be legal...

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. - Alan Watts

Some of those car wash

Some of those car wash events can bring in quite a bit of money. What about having one every weekend? How about several around your town? Most people perfer to have their car washed by hand, I know I do.

How many Meetup Groups are there now who can sponsor something like this...a few hundred? Even if they only did this for one weekend, did 50 cars at a min. donation of $5.00 times maybe five sites per city times the number of Meetup Groups.

Gee, you'd have your 10M in no time. Run the numbers?

But the key to something like this succeeding is organization.

It's just a thought...

Correction you would need to

Correction you would need to do it more than one weekend. It would need to be almost every weekend to make some serious money.

how about...

$100 from 100,000 people? That may actually translate to a strong popular support outside of the internet...

You should set it up

We can pass all three around. The 10,000 for $1,000 each, the 20,000 for $500, and a 100,000 for $100 each. If all three of the pass, that's $30,000 for Ron Paul!
