Constructive Critisism Needed

I am writing an article and would like feedback/constructive criticism.
Any you guys have will be greatly appreciated.

So here it is:

Belief and Reality

Obama will be the next president of the United States.

As I have guessed for quite a while now, barring any extraordinary event, Obama will win by a landslide. The guy is turning red states blue which is predictable given the endless war, massive debt, and rough times brought about by the Bush administration. So the voters of this country will throw the scoundrels out.

The great majority of this country will be elated November 4th. A minority president! No more Bush! Progress! I am anticipating a frenzy similar to the one I witnessed in Chicago when the White Sox won the World Series. I expect to see some people cry out of sheer happiness.

But why?

Because he is the first minority President? Because he is a Democrat? Is it the change that he promises? Is it the hope he brings? What makes them believe in this man to such an extent?

The belief in him might vary within his following. Some might believe he will bring about a fraternal order of unity among all of country. Others might believe he will bring healthcare to everyone suffering without health insurance. Many will believe his success will be either the proof of, or progress towards, racism’s defeat.

However, their admiration and devotion to the man always stems from...belief.

What these well intentioned people don’t know will be the end of their tragic hope. They don’t know his biggest financial donors are big businesses and big banks that have benefited greatly from the bailout that the vast majority of all Americans opposed vehemently. They don’t know he has voted for the Patriot Act, consistent funding of the war, the bailout, and warrantless wiretapping. They don’t understand that universal healthcare is impossible with a government that is more than ten trillion dollars in debt even with their flagrant accounting. They don’t recognize that all “rescue plans” are doomed to fail no matter who proposes them or how many leaders gather.

These voters follow Obama because of a belief. They do not support him based upon concrete voting records and rationality.

In cases in which I have tried to present this knowledge, I have either been scorned or ignored.

This is sadly not a case of “what you don’t know won’t hurt you.” Unfortunately, they are following him off of a cliff. Even if they believe they can fly, just as they believe all his promises, reality and gravity will bring them down to Earth when the political messiah enters office. They will succeed in getting him into office; they just will not get what they had hoped for.

I can only feel a mixture of anxiety and excitement as I wait for the day when they realize and the hope I cant stop hearing about becomes despair. Perhaps then, and only then, will they attempt to know.

I agree

somewhat with Jinc below in that the Obama fans will find someone or something else to blame for anything bad. (Unless it gets really, really bad and he does nothing to fix the disaster) But I also agree with you in that I almost hope Obama does win so they can see he is not some "savior" going to work miracles. If McCain wins, everybody knows reasonably what to expect - even those voting for him. But the Obama crowd needs an awakening...and if he doesn't win they will always claim "HE" would have fixed everything...that and we will be hearing from him again in 4 more years anyway. Let's just get it over with. And look forward to a better 2012.

They will never "know"

If their mindsets have them placing Obama on a pedestal- no matter what happens they will blame the circumstances and people around him. Look at the people who STILL support Bush. They loved him then and if you try to hold him accountable for ANYthing youre "un 'mericun". Obama wont be able to keep any promises except intensified efforts in Afghanistan. All of his social reforms are out the window because of the financial crisis. His big thing will be to "encourage Americans to weather the storm" ie...youre not getting SH*T- and his glazed over supporters will accept that he's merely dealing with the cards the countries been dealt. I dont think any supporter is going to wake up one day and say "wow- maybe I should not have voted for Obama". Theyll just blame everyone around him and the Bush admin for getting us to this point.
