Robot Packs to Hunt Humans?

0 votes

Sounds pretty damn scary considering the mindset of the people running the show...

The latest request from the Pentagon jars the senses. At least, it did mine. They are looking for contractors to provide a "Multi-Robot Pursuit System" that will let packs of robots "search for and detect a non-cooperative human".

One thing that really bugs defence chiefs is having their troops diverted from other duties to control robots. So having a pack of them controlled by one person makes logistical sense. But I'm concerned about where this technology will end up.

Given that iRobot last year struck a deal with Taser International to mount stun weapons on its military robots, how long before we see packs of droids hunting down pesky demonstrators with paralysing weapons? Or could the packs even be lethally armed? I asked two experts on automated weapons what they thought. Both were concerned that packs of robots would be entrusted with tasks - and weapons - they were not up to handling without making wrong decisions.

This isn't news, it a progress report.

There are many contractors that have been working on this stuff for years and chances are if they say they're working on something, they've done it. What's really being said with this article is the Pentagon has decided which sector of the military industrial complex is poised to prosper next. So that the military contractors can update their lobbyists in Washington. And the Democrats can get to work selling this idea to the American people.

"Moreover, as America becomes an increasingly multicultural society, it may find it more difficult to fashion a consensus on foreign policy issues, except in the circumstances of a truly massive and widely perceived direct external threat."

"But, indeed, no private person has a right to complain, by suit in court, on the ground of a breach of the Constitution. The Constitution it is true, is a compact, but he is not a party to it."

HUMAN Mindless, Brain-dead, Robots.....

We don't need the software when there are so many of these around. If they want 80-90% of us dead anyway, then why not use these humans robots instead and thus, save on electricity and reduce the carbon foot-print simultaneously!! What an idea!!

Humans are the brain-dead ones.

I'm amazed

People are worried about this, but they don't care about the predator drones that routinely kill many people overseas. There are REAL robots now hunting down and killing people. Does anyone else see the reports I do?

Guess what guys... this kind

Guess what guys... this kind of scenario will remain impossible for at least 15 to 20 years. I wouldn't get too worked up about it.

I've been looking at "New Scientist" articles for a while and they use the most sensationalized, breathless reporting. They are like the National Enquirer of science pubs.

so if that was true..

we should just wait 15 to 20 years and then worry about it?......

By 2046 (according to the

By 2046 (according to the calculations of Ray Kurzweil, which also corresponds nicely with Moore's Law) a typical home computer will have the computing power equal to a human brain. Just let that sink in. This means that you will have a computer capable of teraflops of computing power for the same price that you pay for a computer today. With that kind of supercomputer, you will basically have the power of very best minds on Earth intelligently at your disposal. I wouldn't worry about the direction technology is taking.

People who worry about these things tend to worry about all things.

Oh I see....

So the video on you tube demonstrating these unholy monstrosities is just a figment of my imagination?

You're right. We should just trust your astute judgment and not look into this ourselves or confront our rogue government that is obviously planning action against its civilian population (especially when considering the military-industrial-media-blacked-out Army Brigade "Homeland" Tours to quell "civil unrest" and "crowd control" in violation of the Constitution and Posse Comitatus). Thanks for saving us some time, Kreskin.
