After Much Consideration

I wanted more than anything to cast a vote for Ron Paul on November 4,I was prepared to place a write-in vote.I was sure that Dr. Paul would apply for write-in status in the state of Texas........
that didn't happen.Instead Dr. Paul asked us to vote for third party candidates, and came out in support of Chuck Baldwin. At first I couldn't see my way to vote for anyone besides Dr. Paul.He was the one who brought such a powerful message and clarity to a obscene political landscape. And my first response was that Chuck could not win the election and I might as well vote for Dr. Paul even though my vote wouldn't count.I would cast a vote on principal and feel good about myself in doing so.But after much consideration I have come to the conclusion that I could do a greater service to my Country by honoring Dr. Paul's wishes for us to vote third party.By voting third party we help give the outside parties some recognition. It wasn't long ago when the Libertarian party was just a small obscure party and now there is a Libertarian candidate for President and in almost every posistion in Government a Libertarian representative. Also by voting outside the two party system it will force the two parties to take a look at themselves and question why they lost votes to these other parties. What issues it was that they addressed that caused them to gain our votes. And by doing so the two parties will be forced to get inline and address these issues (or be consumed of their own corruption). So I began to look around at my choices in Texas other than Democrats and Republicans.I'm not convinced of Bob Barr even though he is on the ballot as a Libertarian candidate. So since my vote for Dr. Paul would not count (no filing status),I looked for other candidates that did file for write-in status.I had 8 choices for a write-in candidate.
Jonathan Allen/Jeffery D. Stath (Heartquake party)
Chuck Baldwin/Darrell L. Castle (the Constitutionalist party)
Thaddaus Hill/Gordon F. Bailey (the Madisonian Federalist party)
Alan Keyes/MarvinSprouse,Jr. (the American Independent party)
Cynthia McKinney/Rosa Clemente (the Green party)
Brian Moore/Stewart A. Alexander (the Socialist party)
Ralph Nader/Matt Gonzalez (the Independent Ecology party)

Now the Socialist were out the door right off the bat.
But the Madisonian Federalist were of intrest following the founders is what Dr. Paul has brought to the table. But Thaddaus Hill only has write-in status in a small section of places. So after much consideration I have chose to write-in Chuck Baldwin,he is on the ballot in 38 states and his views and objectives almost mirror Ron Paul.As much as I wanted to vote for Ron Paul and couldn't see not voting for him I think this will bear more fruit in the future.Think of it as giving up the battle to win the war.
