Why did Dr. Paul endorse John Culberson?
Fellow DP'ers,
Ron Paul has forever changed my way of thinking politically even culturally to some extent. I helped campaign for him in Iowa and Texas. I donated to his campaign and to Dr. Murray Sabrin and BJ Lawson's campaign.
I do have a concern though. I received an e-mail from Paul for congress from Dr. Paul himself endorsing John Culberson from TX for congress.
John Culberson is no friend of liberty. He voted for the Iraq war and the patriot act. That alone means he should not have been endorsed. I am hoping that maybe recently Mr. Culberson has had a change of heart and Dr. Paul genuinely believes him since Dr. Paul is an individual always willing to give people the benefit of the doubt, but I highly doubt it.
Why did Dr. Paul endorse this guy?
here is the e-mail
Dear Friend:
I have had the opportunity to work alongside my friend and fellow Texan, Congressman John Culberson, since he was elected back in 2000. John has proven himself a dedicated and reliable voice in the House of Representatives for our shared principles of limited government and fiscal conservatism.
Like me, John has strong respect for the vision that our Founding Fathers laid out in the Constitution, and he approaches every vote from the standpoint of whether we as a Nation should add to the debt burden of future generations of Americans - which is why, also like me, John votes "no" so often.
John's adherence to these principles has earned him one of the wealthiest Democrat challengers in the entire country. His multimillionaire opponent is prepared to use as much of his vast personal fortune as necessary to defeat John. His staggering wealth has attracted the attention of national Democrats, who are pouring even more money into this race because of their disdain for John and his outspoken conservatism.
With less than two weeks left before election day, and early voting already underway, John needs your support. I am proud to endorse John Culberson in his race, and I hope you will join me in supporting him in any way you see fit.
In Liberty,
Ron Paul

Question: who is the politician
who starts using the term friend? from the phone calls and corespondents from Dr. Paul I don't remember him ever start out with "friend". Maybe someone is using RP name and an email address to further the GOP cause, The GOP knows it on its last leg.
Similar problems here
Except he WON'T endorse the person trying to oust the incumbent Republican who signed the bailout bill. CFL did a slim jim against the guy, but our write in challenger could use an endorsement!
Truth exists, and it deserves to be cherished.
I guess I am going to have to ask Culberson directly
but it is my memory that he has supported Rick Perry in his efforts concerning the NAU when he signed the trilateral corridor with Bush, and the Mexico and Canada presidents in Waco in 2005. If he supports Rick Perry, I have to vote for Schick, the libertarian. Culberson may be changing and he can help prove that by signing onto End the Fed Reserve Rally to be held 11/22. He needs to come right out and say that he is no longer for nation building and that he is changing. He has some answering to do. Besides, I like to vote the Congress out because it would stop their ridiculous retirement benefits that they vote in for themselves. How stupid are we to allow them to decide on their own salaries and retirement funds?????
The Iraq vote I can stomach- there was bad intelligence
but the Patriot Act is so inherently wrong on any level that Id really need to see more of his resume before voting for him. Ron Paul seems to have an almost saintly patience with his colleagues who are well below his own personal standards. He ruined politics for me thats for sure- ill vote- but it sure takes alot to get me to really feel good about a candidate now that Ron Paul has raised that bar. After all these years I guess Dr Paul has managed to find that balance where he can see the positive in his fellows and picks his battles. He must never forget though- his endorsements are as good as gold. Many of us feel "if he's good enough for Ron Paul, he's good enough for me."

Read the letter
The only thing Ron is endorsing Culberson on is "limited government and fiscal conservatism." It appears Ron feels Culberson is worthy of your vote based on his fiscal conservatism and his "standpoint of whether we as a Nation should add to the debt burden of future generations of Americans".
Now, unless you feel the opposing Democrat is a better choice, is there a reason you would be inclined not to support Culberson?

I understand that but I
I understand that but I don't see how you can separate fiscal conservatism and this massive foreign policy spending.
If that is the reason for the endorsement then that's fine but I was just curious.
If the choice is between this Repub and a socialist Dem
I think Ron Paul wants you to feel that it is ok to vote for the Repub even if he is not perfect.
Don't you agree?

You are right.
I don't get these endorsements. RP endorsed Sen. John Sununu with a similar letter and then Sununu voted for the bailout. Ridiculous.
