Animal-Human Embryos Okayed
This was posted in my local newspaper today and is an AP article:
(London) - British plans to allow scientists to use hybrid animal-human embryos for stem cell research won final approval from lawmakers Wednesday in a sweeping overhaul of sensitive laws.
The House of Commons also clarified laws that allow the screening of embryos to produce babies with suitable bone marrow or other material for transplant to sick siblings. It was the first review of embryo science in Britain in almost 20 years.

Does anybody else find this horrific? I think stem cell research is a wonderful thing, but should ONLY be utilized to perhaps grow a new body part when necessary, or something along those lines. Fusing animals and human embryos is sickening to me. And wanting to grow babies to be USED to help sick siblings, like said babies are THINGS, instead of living breathing HUMAN BEINGS..makes me wonder if these people approving these laws have a soul...

We are free to discuss the moral and ethical ramifications (among other things) of human-animal hybrids (as reported by the "mainstream" media) here on this forum--for example, infringing on our individual liberty by polluting the eco-system of the world. If you have a problem with that--take it up with the site's owner and see how far that gets you.

You misinterpret the article
when you say this is the position of the Catholic Church. The Bishop in question is not speaking for the Church as Church law forbids any in vitro fertilization. This Bishop is giving a personal opinion, and is himself committing a very grave sin to mislead the faithful this way

The article singles out this 'bishops' opinion which is just a good sample of how apostate the 'visible church' is. Not just RC but ALL of western christianity.

This is bound to happen. Whether it is regulated or not is a more realistic question.And as different countries see economic opportunities, the regulations will vary with the ability to monetize it.
