Ron Paul Revolution meets Freedom not Fear Protests in Germany

0 votes

Dear Paulites,

there are some good news from Germany that I'd like to share with you.

Sunday 2008-10-11 was called an action day against all the illegal actions by our governments taking our civil liberties away for some fearmongering reasons.

Various parties, NGOs, civil rights movements from the Marxist to Libertarian viewpoints stood united in the working group on data retention (AK Vorrat) to organise a massive protest for Freedom not Fear

According to police estimations there were 50.000 people rallying for freedom, some estimates were even higher. I was glad to meet several Ron Paul supporters there, who spread the message of liberty to the fellow protesters.

Though there were hardly any reports in the German media, there were several guys who showed thumbs up for Ron Paul, or told me they were inspired by his courage, his integrity and vision.

Altogether it was a tremendous success and I'd like to share the pictures of the Ron Paul R3volution in the protest march with you.

Very nice, but America

Very nice, but America should not be directed by the political will of other nations.

Trade with all, entangling alliances with none.

Free....it doesn't look like

Free....it doesn't look like that was what was being advocated by those demonstrations, these were individuals who were expressing the desire for Freedom and Liberty not for alliances.

That's right republicae!

That's right republicae! There are plenty of awful "security" laws within Germany, just like the FISA act.

So we were telling our government to stay out of our lives,
not to surveil our communication,
not to invade our privacy and homes on the search for any "terrorists"
not to save our fingerprints and biometrical pictures in a central database and on our passports,
not to enforce a single database were all health care issues are centrally stored,
not to chip anybody anytime with RFID chips.
and not to share our travel data with the US-security organisations.

But the US and we are faciing pretty similar challenges...

????

Well, I don't know where FJV came up with the post above. I looked at the links and didn't see anything to solicit such a response. Perhaps he will post an apology.

Great to see the Revolution sign!

We have friends who visit us frequently from Germany and the Ron Paul dialogue is always heated. Thanks for the pictures and videos. I have something to send them now!

awesome!

Ron Paul is actully of German background, I looked up his family tree.
He is soo awesome! Awesome pictures man!

I no longer "fear" a one

I no longer "fear" a one world government. It will never happen. As close to it that we are, I know it will suffer a death blow. I believe the hammer is already falling on it. It is the hammer of FREEDOM!!

I am more concerned with the further wakening of the sheeple in America. There are SO MANY that appear to be brain dead.

I agree. They'll definitely

I agree. They'll definitely try, but it's impossible for them to succeed.

The odds are against them.

You are right!

They have been trying since Babylon but it will never happen!

Wow! What a mixed crowd.

Seeing the Ron Paul Revolution banner side by side with the posters of the MLPD (Marxist-Leninist Party of Germany) made me laugh. But it's great some Paulists showed our colours.
Danke!

A wicked idea occurs to me...

...just as socialists have always been keen to hijack civil liberties and anti-war issues to their own ends, maybe libertarians could hold their own events with civil liberties, anti-war, and anti-banking cartel themes?

Its good to see that Germans are so tolerant of each other!

Agreed

But we shouldn't show our "ugly capitalist face" too early - LOL

BTW Some of these leftist groups are actually trying to hijack these kind of events. Seeing the banners of the party "Die Linke" (the Left) former PDS, former SED former KPD I guess how many of them just think that there are just the wrong people on the CCV monitors.

How do the former DDR and GDR residents get along now?

In England there is a culture clash between the South and the North. I've heard its like that in Germany, only much worse.

They keep among themselves

Even those people that went to the other part of the country after reunification (the ambitious from the east went to the west, while many civil servants went to the east to fill in the newly created positions in administration and judiciary) keep among their peers. My own family (my mother's family comes from the eastern parts) lost track to the members in the east they had supported during 30 years after the wall was down. Since IMHO a "nation" is formed by the shared experiences of the people, I think we need another generation (perhabs those born after 2000) to have Germans that are not stamped by a 'western' or 'eastern' lifestyle.
And yes, I know people in the north of England are different to people in the south. When I studied and lived on the campus of Warwick University in Coventry I always had to smile when the elderly cleaners adressed me with 'morning, darlin' on my way to the washing room. Of course the economic and social backgrounds of this rift are serious.

Long time ago

Little Britain - I didn't know that, though there is even a synchronized version in German (not too badly translated), but I don't have a telly. I like this one even more http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mv_46Cf0k2M&feature=related. Very nice scenery.
I got an 'Erasmus' studentship for an academic year and was pretty free to choose my subjects. I did some law and English literature. Since Warwick is a campus university ( we don't have that in Germany) I felt like on a spaceship sometimes. And you learned about the social ambitions of the people if they moved to Coventry City or to Royal Leamington Spa in their second year.

Don't blame the rest of the world. We did vote for Ron Paul!

Many Leftists just lack inspiration

There were groups of mixed of agent provocateurs and idiots who tried to hijack the demo by providing the media with pictures of radicals in black clothes and so on. But they failed.

For "Die Linke" I think most of them have gone there desperate for an political alternative. This is the only alternative, that is existent in German Mainstream Media. I think quite a lot of them were open to the free society idea with limited government if only there was someone telling them, that freedom works.

Ron Paul 2008 - Truth is simple

You are right

It's sad bad true: "Die Linke" is the only real opposition party in Germany, and paradoxically their platform coincides with essential parts of a Ron Paulish political agenda for Europe (anti-war, anti-EU and pro civil liberties). Though they are statists of course and I am sceptic about their real agenda, I agree there may be many people in this party and other groups on the so called 'Left' actually open for the ideas of a free non-statist society, if they knew about Ron Paul's message. It's a bit like the Obama people in the US.
And you are right to go to manifestations like that and to be open for discussions with these people. As a group we should prepare more materials to use for these occasions.

Hi Cologne,

Actually the MLPD came up with Peace, Freedom and Socialism. So we agree on two of three issues ;)

It was really an amazing showing and it was a peaceful, it was focused and it was impressive.
