Norwegian Soldiers Land at Fort Indiantown Gap

In Central Pennsylvania. They are calling it "a military exchange program to learn new skills and a new culture."

Never heard of such a thing. I wonder why they're REALLY here.

Ft. Indiantown Gap is listed as a FEMA camp.

Update: There are apperently only a few soldiers there ...now. So until anything else happens, I don't think there's a need to be alarmed by this. I'm just bringing this to everyone's attention.

Thanks for all of your reassurances...

Thank you for all the reassurances that it's 'ok' to have foreign troops on U.S. soil. I just do not agree that it's 'ok'. It's a perversion of our constitutional republic--I don't care how long our illegitimate government has allowed it to go on.

Congress hasn't declared war since WWII. Are all of the "wars" and "conflicts" since then 'ok' because the illegitimate government stopped obeying the Constitution? I think not. The government must obey the Constitution!

oh please

Ft Indian town gap has a war college located there, where they do strategic training, theory etc. there are foreign soldiers there all the time for training, in small numbers. IF you visit Gettysburg, you can often see them visiting the battlefield.

I don't know about the other military guys here but...

I can't think of any large training exercise I ever attended without some international troops there. I'll never forget the goofy uniforms the Kuwaitis wore.
18 Norweigian engineers do not concern me.

This is a case of what is generally known as "a slow news day".

Norwegian soldiers in the

Norwegian soldiers in the States! Maybe my wife is a spy!

Seriously, people should be more worried about American soldiers stationed outside the country causing more damage than 18 Norwegians.

Besides, according to my wife's family, Norwegians are coming to their senses faster than Amreicans are.

These guys are expected to be in power after the next election:

Who cares

They take their orders from Oslo.

If I were you I'd be more worried about the U.S. troops now garrisoned in the States that take their orders from D.C., that and the suspension of Posse Comitatus.

Oh No

Norwegians are notorious for keeping the heat turned down in the winter. If they plan on serving lutefisk at their FEMA camp, I'm not going.

Yeah, that's some stinky

Yeah, that's some stinky shit. But lefsa, now that's good...

Where can one find this list of FEMA camps?

If voting could really change things,
it would be illegal. Here is hoping for change!

not to worry.. I hope!

I was in the navy back in the mid 90's and they offered the same thing. It's for the personnel, gives them a different perspective.. aka a little break and a change.. But it could be anything...

i agree

18 troops is hardly an invasion force. honestly, 18 troops against 300 million pissed off americans, most of which are armed? they'll stay for about 1-2 weeks and be on their way back to Oslo. i don't mind foreign exchange as long as people stay friendly, but the instant they try anything, THEN get upset and blow them off the continent. it's good to keep an eye on these things, but not freak out over every little thing.

we have several thousand of our troops all over the place on foreign soil. imagine what would happen if all those nations reacted like Jkap is? he has a point in that we have enough problems trying to set our country right without more worry, but this is a bit of overreaction.

Thanks for bumping this important thread...

Oh, so it's 'okay' because it's 18 foreign troops on American soil. Where do you draw the line then? 100? 1000?

No matter how you want to spin it, armies are not for diplomatic purposes.

We are being tested

Not Completely Unheard Of

USA use to have soldiers go to Sweden to train in snow mountainous terrain.

Beware of any U.N. affiliated crap though. Old man George Bush says that the New World Order is based upon the United Nations Founding Father's vision.

Same as U.N. in my book...

How is this really different from the U.N.? Because it's not U.N.-sanctioned then it's ok?

It's an entangling alliance (with Norway in this case) that our Founding Fathers warned us against.

Hey

I'm insulted with 'em bein' here! I can see it as an insult! May be instituted by the U.N. correction: Well, if there were more I might be insulted by 'em.

I'm also insulted by the immediate crossing over of the border line by the "illegal aliens", glad I don't live there!

Come now, we have had

Come now, we have had foreign military personnel on our soil for decades, off and on...remember the Iranians who trained to be pilots in the 70s.

I love Norwegians

Young Norweigans must give at least a couple years of their lives to military service. I went to an engineering school that had a relatively large Norwegian student population. The Norwegian government pays for their education after they complete military service. They were a few years older and wiser than the normal student population, and therefore were great fun to party with. Weegees totally rock!

Oh, so that makes it ok then to have foreign troops on US soil..

...since you partied with a few Norwegians.

I didn't say it's ok to have foreign troops on US soil

I'm just not all uptight about 18 Norwegian soldiers. We'll be in for trouble with the Chinese and the Russians after the Federal Government defaults on its debt.

Norwegians come in peace to show uptight Americans how to party. Party today, for tomorrow we may be fighting the Chinese to keep our refrigerators.

JKap

dude, relax. if this were hundreds or thousands that showed up, most would share your concern. but if you're really this upset about a dozen or so norwegian troops who realistically could do absolutely nothing to us, then why don't you just head out there, tell them they can't be here and send them home without any supper?

while you're at it, why not bring home all of our troops on foreign soil home in kind since i'm sure the other 100+ nations we have them stationed share your sentiment?

bottom line- it's 18 troops who could care less and probably looked forward to the change of scenery. unless you personally are capable of waving your mighty hand and making them go away--- then shut up.

Ok, thanks for your comments on foreign troops being on our soil

Take it easy, there's only

Take it easy, there's only 18 of them. There's such a thing as a healthy skepticism, but there's also downright paranoia.

I'm from NC and had a lot of friends at Bragg who trained with other nations' soldiers. I now live in Canada and they help train US soldiers in Arctic warfare and survival. It's very common.

phew...thanks James

good thing you were hangin out on DP today
could you imagine what could of came from this??

This is getting to be a

This is getting to be a joke.

I'd like to ask some of you people who hide in your anonymity here and spout sarcasm and call your fellow patriots names - what if we had to rebuild this country? What if we had to take on the responsibilities of Jefferson and Hamilton and Adams and Washington? Do you think we could do it? Do you think we could build a nation based on liberty and equality for all, or would our deliberations quickly devolve into the kind of pompous arrogant BS we throw at each other here?

It's time we start policing ourselves for common respect and decency. If we can't depend upon the individuals to do it themselves, then let's as a group start trying to keep one another respectfully in check.

If we don't start, as a group, calling one another to ever higher ideals we will fail, and with us one of the last hopes for a better America.
