The citizens of Lakeland, FL are voting FOR red-light cameras at this point 60% to 40%.

It's halfway down on the right side:
»

They are trying that crap in my city too.
http://stoptrafficcams.blogspot.com/
a ton of info on the topic...
I can't even find the poll in the archive any longer
.
The poll was taken off the front page and replaced with a new one.
The archive-of-polls won't pull up.
Does anyone know if we were able to turn the poll around?

Thanks, Mike, but...
this is unconstitutional so I believe it is my business.
I was just saying....
I don't see what about the cameras are unconstitutional. They are a scam, they are stupid, they are dangerous. But how are they unconstitutional?
Oh course putting aside the whole corporate structure of the jurisdiction they are in which is inherently unconstitutional.

Hey Mike, All traffic
Hey Mike,
All traffic tickets are unconstitutional. Red light cameras just take it to a whole new level.
NOTE: Simple way to get out of a red light camera ticket - subpoena your accuser to appear to testify against you. In this case, it's the camera. Good luck getting any good testimony out of a machine.

Vince----I said, besides the obvious overarching unconstitution
ality.
I hate cameras, I'm the only guy here who has actually presented and passed legislation to get rid of them. But even within the perverted interpretation of the constitution we currently live under, I don't see how the cameras infringe.

how about illegal surveillance?
or a foreign company performing law enforcement on American soil?
The cameras are not surviellance
And the foreign companies only service the machines. There is no breach of the constitution by installing red light cameras. There are plenty of good reasons to oppose them, but none are constitutional.

i have done some research
a.. Administration of the program violates Fourteenth Amendment Due Process
rights
b.. Confrontation rights (6th Amendment right)
c.. Equal Protection (disparate treatment for public, police, rental,
corporate, out-of-state vehicles, motorists cited by police
d.. Fifth Amendment right to remain silent (for statutes requiring affidavit
as to who was driving)
e.. Mailing a citation that requires appearance is a seizure subject to the
Fourth Amendment
f.. Photographing a motorist is a search subject to the Fourth Amendment
g.. Pre-charging delay (delay between the violation's occurrence and receipt
of notice) - Fourteenth Amendment Due Process
h.. Presumption that the registered owner is the driver impermissibly shifts
the burden of proof
i.. Privacy - violation of State privacy laws
j.. Revenue generation: selection criteria for photo red light enforcement,
light phase timing
k.. Substantive Due Process - Privacy
The above are all issues that are likely to continue to be the subject of legal
review and refinement. Monitoring their long-term clarification through legal
proceedings is to be advised for all jurisdictions adopting red light camera
enforcement systems. Appendix A reviews current relevant case law examples and
in doing so illuminates the types of issues that have been raised.
Photo Red Light Case Law Synopsis
Dajani v. Governor of Md., No. CCB-00-713, 2001 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 982 (D. Md.
Jan. 24, 2001) (unreported).
From a former Mayor who had red light cameras in town:
The company that maintains the camera gets most of the money, always. No matter what they say, they figure out a way to jack the city out of every dime. And, the cameras only "make" money until people realize they are there. In our city, we saw more accidents than before, and eventually the city was actually paying $50,000 a year to keep the cameras operating (2 cameras). We removed them.
It's a scam. I encourage anyone who receives a photo of themselves running a light or speeding should send back a picture of the money for fine.

The site is bein' spied on it appears: "savvis" v v not w as it may look 64.210.240.11:80. They used to be known as that anyway, a spy.
They (savvis) Were Known To Be
a spy like a "spyware" from a program. What do spies do? They can collect surfing habits" then they sell them, they have been know to collect other info like: ip addresses: "maybe" trace you to your particular home address and acquire your home phone number even though it's unlisted, happened here just a couple of days ago, they called three times and insisted that someone requested info. Not sure how they can get your phone number but it does happen. Savvis is also related to overpeer which is a known spy.
They can sell to others who might "spam your home phone" with bogus claims that you visited their web site and requested more info, etc., etc.
But, home phone numbers can also be gotten from a web site instead of the info being sold to them. Maybe the info is being shared with one another? They can make thousands of dollars with info that they collect and sell.
I haven't studied this stuff in a few years! I'm sure my info is rusty when it comes to the "exact culprits" doin' the spyin'!
Thar ought-er-bee someone 'har that could give ya somemyrr info.
And, there's nothing new about internet spying, you have probably been spied on from day one that you connected to the internet.
Some people use IE Spyad (its free) some Peerguardian (free) hosts files, free. Proxies, proxy servers, etc.
One man claims that the "double click" ad agency will have "everyone's" surfing habits in their info data base. And, you of course know about google. Etc.
note: ads can also be used as a spy, they hide it in the ads, the capability of spying. Then, there are "bugs" on sites used for spying, etc. Haven't studied it in awhile.
Update: their using the ZonedOut program now to install IE Spyad
http://www.spywarewarrior.com/uiuc/resource.htm#IESPYAD
Can you explain what that means exactly?
