$4000 to $9000 yearly is pretty much the range, from various homeowners that I've talked to, in Southern NJ. It all depends on which town your house is "stuck" in and how poorly they managed your (the taxpayers) money.
Pretty much everyone I know agrees that NJ sucks in this and many other areas. Most people I know have plans to leave this state in the future.
I laughed to myself a few months back when someone posted here at DP complaining about $2500 property taxes. I can't remember the last time taxes were that low around here. $2500 would be a breath of fresh air for us.
Paying rent for something you own seems stupid to me. It may be constitutional if you didn't buy your property in allodial title but I am not exactly sure. It has to do with the sneaky contracts that they get you to sign that makes it their property.

#4 Port of Portland................................$12.31
#5 City of Portland................................$796.94
#6 Metro..............................................$16.96
#7 Multnomah County...........................$16.96
#8 Library............................................$156.12

#15 Additional School Bonds................$388.63
#16 Misc taxes (what is this??)...........$516.98

I knew portland was super-liberal but, man, that's really outrageous. I just figured you had a massive house and a "normal" city.
Can you say "catch-22"?
My tax bill is $3000 total business and home. the county has nothing. No police force, no garbage collection, nada. Taxes pay for nice roads and great schools.

I am Building a 20 Home Gated Community right now. For ONLY Ron Paul people. I have already done all the research finding the BEST PLACE...and finding a place that all of us RP Americans can live in peace. The community will be finished in December. Each buildable lot will sell for around $90,000. This price is 1/2 of what all lots like this are going for.
You can build a 3000 square foot home for as low as $60,000.
This is what I am doing.
If you want in.....send me an email.
I am out of here....I like 79 degrees everyday!
This property is right across the street from my current home. My friend who bailed out of the U.S.A. 12 years ago has advised me the entire way.....and wow...what a difference.

Yep
So If I have my property paid in full.....I have to pay roughly $340 a month to keep it....???
This is insane!
If you used the SSN when
If you used the SSN when acquiring the property, it isn't the man/woman that owns it.
Also, the voter registration sets up the agreement for taxation with the Governor of the State.
If there is a tax due, meet the obligation, fulfill the contract and then don't re-enter the contract.
Here is a good place to start to learn: http://teamlaw.org/land
I would go ahead a pay it.
I would go ahead a pay it. It's a local issue. Be smart keep the property and fight to change how much you owe in the future.
Puppets come and puppets go but the world's stage is getting cluttered.
You won't be a property
You won't be a property owner for much longer.

I am a Property

I am questioning everything.......
I might pay it...but not right yet.......
I've got news for you
He's not a property owner now. Samuel Howell Jr. nailed it.

Why not?
Local property taxes pay for real services. All government is not federal.
