***5000 Murdered During Katrina?***

During a news conference last month, McKinney said a woman told her that after Hurricane Katrina the Department of Defense processed “5,000 bodies that had received a single bullet wound to the head. … The data was entered into a Pentagon computer. Reportedly, the bodies were dumped into a swamp.”
McKinney said she got “verification” from anonymous Red Cross workers and suspects the dead were prisoners.
McKinney did not respond to several requests for comment for this story. In the debate, she called the story of the bodies “a credible report. We were on the verge of investigating (in Congress). Unfortunately, I had to leave office before we could investigate.”

Let me spell this out nice and clear for everyone for the last time. I was there. This is complete bullshit!
In the entire time I was down there (30 days), there were shootings there mostly related to looting, but it wasn't exactly Beirut down there. There wasn't that many of them. McKinney's information is compromised, and frankly it's disappointing. I wouldn't even give this intel a D validity.
Do I deny there were bodies there? Of course not. Hell I found a bunch of them. Were they executed? Well, if you consider drowning, dehydration or having half a building fall on you to be execution, then I suppose so.
Get real and use your head. If there were ANY validity to this, someone would've spoken up long ago. Let's face it. People are dumb, and not even those in the know can keep a secret of that magnitude. Someone would blab. With the massive amount of media that was constantly in the way down there, you would've heard about it immediately.

I won't discount what you saw first hand. You have your memory and prospective of what you witnessed and that's important to the discussion here. But you couldn't have been everywhere to witness everything. If you are in the military then you must know all about compartmentalization. Sometimes the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing. How many bodies did you see down there?
People are speaking up as you would see if you watch some of the congressional testimony and witness accounts. There are questions that need to be answered.
One question I have is why FEMA was cutting down local communication lines, turning away relief for the victims. I want to know why people were not allow to leave the containment areas, I want to know why mercenaries were patrolling the streets in the United States of America. I want to know why "shoot to kill" orders were given by people who did not authority to do so. I think I have an idea why but that's another story.
Don't assume this issue will go away easily.

Although there have been stories to come out of the city about snipers shooting citizens.. I have to take it with a grain of salt. Yes, there were gang style executions in the Convention Center, ( I've seen the pictures of the dead) but 5000 executions of prisoners..??

Before we discount Cynthia McKinney we should take a look at what she has done in the name of justice while serving in Congress. She has my respect for introducing Impeachment against BUsh, Cheney and Rice.

Now back to the topic at hand. I guess like the 9/11 issue it's up to those who want to know what happen during Katrina to speak up. We must investigate as much as we can and lay the cards on the table. I have zero faith in this "supposed" government and mercenaries employed with our tax dollars to subdue Americans and people around the world.
As many as 8,500 prisoners were moved from one jail to another during the rising waters. Please do not assume that people were not speaking up about the missing. It's easy to keep those numbers hidden when you take into account that the entire region was evacuated in the weeks after Katrina.
This government acted in a way that was blatantly criminal, FEMA turned away food and water headed to the region, so it's not unreasonable to have suspicion about what these people are capable of. Many people believe the levees were blown up. Remember these are the same people who have killed over a million innocent Iraqis in our name.

Seems like she has been for the 10 years or so that I've been aware of her antics.
I had the same reaction...
...as most of you here. While I wouldn't put that past our gov't, it's kind of hard for me to believe that 5K people can just disappear and no one raises a question about it. Even the lame, look-over-there, MSM would have sniffed a story out of that one.
To have crdible information and not act on it... only to bring it up later during a presidential run.. sound like a cheap try for attention.

which would only be credible if she would have some positive proof. Bodies, perhaps a map indicating where they were dumped, taped interview with one or more witnesses, all these would help.
However, so much is shoved under the carpet. How many of the mainstream media have given full information regarding the devastation of the last hurricane Ike in Galveston-Tx, and the total number of deaths?

you know though- these things tend to turn into cartoons
and ridiculed because of the scope. She must have received what she felt confident was credible testimony. These things are usually rooted in a seed of truth. Perhaps an exaggeration from the witness(es)? I know better by now than to give this admin ANY benefit of the doubt- it wouldnt surprise me either way- if it fizzled out as a fraudulant report or if they did in fact find a mass grave on US soil. I just wish she would have handled it better. Id like to see this resolved one way or another. That I havent heard anything from their families on the MSM dosnt surprise me, that I havent heard the families on YouTube does give me some hope that its either false or no where near the magnitude of 5000 souls.

Agreed that the source may be compromised...
If I recall, the source later said they would not stand behind the story. Now, to the more conspiratorial minded (everyone here) that may be a sign that the person has been 'reached' and recanted the story. Or it could mean they didn't count on the greater-than-expected attention, and backed off.
The fact that no one else picked up on this makes me think it's the latter.

if i were a reporter the first thing i woud do is find that swamp and scoop the biggest story of the decade. Such a whopper of a story and so verifiable. This isnt a spot in Afghanistan with nameless peasants, this is a small body of water in the US with 5,000 well documented, fingerprinted inmates of the federal prison system with better dental insurance than me. If they are there- they can be found. Wouldnt simple prison records show who went where before/after Katrina?

Honestly there is a line between credible over ups and dark fairy tales. I bet someone did tell McKinney that their son committed mass executions in LA, and I'll also bet that the source was mentally ill. I've heard a lot of people with delusions make absurd claims. If they can't offer any real evidence, then a reasonable person would not mention it in a campaign.
McKinney makes Greens look like fringe nuts. Not that I agree with Greens on many issues, but most of them are educated and rational people. She also struck a security guard for not recognizing her. Nice. That makes her a credible spokesperson for a party, huh?
The LP screwed up by nominating Barr this year, but the GP blew it big. Baldwin and Nader are the only two sticking to principle AND appearing sane.
