Full Disclosure of Public Office/Rent-Seekers
Since the citizenship of both spear carriers of the War Party has been called into question during the course of the 2008 Presidential Elections, I thought that it would be in order to attempt to ascertain what level of public disclosure is required of those individuals seeking public office, such as President.
The onus should be on those who seek public office to prove their eligibility and qualifications.
Case in point, Barack H. Obama, either the guy is a natural born citizen of the United States or he is not. I don't think there can be any ambiguity to the origin of birth of a human being. So far, the main source referenced by those claiming to "debunk" the claims that Obama is not a natural born citizen of the United States is the so-called non-partisan factcheck.org, which has ties to the Annenberg Foundation (with which of course Obama was once associated).
Then we learn that Obama has not produced his records from Occidental, Columbia University, and Harvard Law School. Most riff-raff like Barry have to prove their educational credentials when they apply for a job that pays $400K (like the President of the United States).
So, I guess it comes back to the legal and ethical questions of whether there should be some legislative effort(s) (whether it be on the local, state or national level) to require full disclosure of elected and unelected public office-holders (such as requiring those who seek office to produce birth certificates, educational records, etc.).
I was hoping for some feedback here, trying to brainstorm. Do you think full disclosure is a good idea? What do you think the limits on legislation requiring full disclosure should be?

The deck is stacked
it doesn't matter what we think they have the power to do whatever the hell they want to.

Considering that we, the
Considering that we, the people, are the employers it probably should be legislated that our employees verify their claims regarding citizenship, education, etc.
No REAL ID for us, but we should have a REAL ID for those that we employ in our government (*maybe*, since I haven't thought this completely through).

The Constitution
states the president will be at least 35 years of age and a natural born citizen. I would think that at the very least a birth certificate would be required upon registering as a candidate for president of the US. A birth certificate would give proof of both of those requirements. I'm stunned that no birth certificate verification was required of every person who tossed their hat into the ring...including Dr. Paul. Has this not been a requirement in the past?????
The job requires citizenship...
therefore, everyone who wants to even run in the primary should have to produce all relevant documents to settle that question first. I can't believe this isn't a requirement. In the case of Obama, Berg raises the valid issue of not his birthplace only, but also his relinquishment of citizenship while a child in Indonesia. If we were a country governed by law, as we once were, these answers would be demanded and obtained. Anyone who has had a court case of any kind in the past twenty years, knows only too well, that their is literally NO justice left in our land. Our country, once ruled by law, is now ruled by lawyers. The whim of the judge becomes law and there is no attempt to cover this fact.
To sum up, yes there should be full disclosure required under the law of all relevant info, which would not necessarily include school records, unless they contained pertinent facts.
Truth in advertising...
But Obama has been advertised as "Harvard Law School educated" and a "constitutional scholar". Why shouldn't we at least expect him to turn over his complete educational records to prove his bona fides, if not through the codification of law?
What about a law similar to the election laws that set a threshold for a number of signatures of which a candidate is required to obtain to be listed on a ballot in a given state--couldn't something like that provide a common-sense solution?
