... So I voted for him. That gives me the right to make this observation:

Chuck has no chance at all this time around, but he could have done much better in another race.

If you look at the description of his candidacy in this C-Span article (found under the video referenced in the main post of this thread) you will see what I mean:

Chuck is a great person, and is fit to be one of our nation's leaders. His problem is that he has not taken the time to lay the groundwork. He needs to build a foundation, a national reputation, so that a serious run for high office is possible. The best way to do that is to run for some other office first, one that costs less to campaign for, and for which he would be a more credible candidate at this stage in his career. That would mean a run for office in his home state. Some statewide position, or the state legislature, or possibly, with enough backing, even the US House of Representatives. If he can't get elected on that level, it is doubtful he will ever have a high enough political profile or enough name recognition to be elected POTUS.

I love ya, Chuck. Now, PLEASE, build your career realistically.

I do agree with that. Even Hillary Clinton ran for Senate first before trying the White House.

On the other hand we need to do what Hillary's supporters did--keep our eyes for him on the next presidential run in the meanwhile.

I think Chuck should run for the US House of Representatives.

Agreed. And in the interim, we would have additional support in congress to work with Ron Paul and like-minded people. We need as many good congressmen as we can get our hands on right now. While a coup through the office of the Presidency would be much quicker, the slow and steady strategy is probably the most beneficial and practical at this point.

There's only one problem...if the resume building doesn't go well, there are no other Chucks out there, from what I can see. I'd still want him to run in 2012 anyway.
