I think it's a safe assumption that Michael Nystroms actions of removing it from the front page and disabling comments on that thread was because he decided it was a bad for this website to allow that thread to remain active.

"No, they're not. There's an option for each node in Drupal (which this site uses) called "Promoted to front page". If this option is checked, the node (page) is place on the front page, and in reverse chronological order based on the time the node was posted. There's a configurable limit to how many to have on a single page, and once that limit is reached, it displays a "pager" at the bottom of the front page, which allows you to browse through all the "front page" or "promoted" nodes. If you browse through that, you will find some items dated October 5th, 2008 (around page 9 and 10 as of right now), which is the date of Michael Nystrom's "Weekend Watching - Zeitgeist Addendum: Genius!" Zeitgeist post, but that node is no longer in that list. He unchecked the "Promoted to front page" checkbox for that node, effectively removing it from the front page!
How do I know this? I've used Drupal extensively for over a couple years now (longer than I've been part of this liberty movement), and have developed modules for it, which are hosted on Drupal's official website, http://drupal.org. Daily Paul uses Drupal 5.7 (at least that's what it's CHANGELOG.txt file says...it's possible to update the site without changing the CHANGELOG.txt file).
