Spreading the Wealth, One Person at a Time....
Yesterday on my way to Breakfast at the Original Pancake House, I passed a homeless guy at the corner of the parking lot, with a sign that read … 'Vote Obama, I need the money.'
Once inside the restaurant, I sat down to have a nice breakfast, two eggs, toast, and orange juice. My waiter was fast, efficient and courteous, but I could not help but notice that my waiter had on an 'Obama '08' tee shirt.
“So you like Obama and his government policies?” I asked.
Then the waiter said, “Yes I personally feel it’s about time we have a loving and caring government that redistributes the wealth of this great country fairly, for all.”
Well if you know me, you can guess what happened next.
When the bill came, I explained to the waiter that he had given me exceptional service, but his tee shirt made me realize we should all start practicing Obama’s message of a “loving and caring government” and "we should redistribute the wealth fairly, starting at home”. He seemed to agree, nodding his head slowly up and down with a proud look, as if I was starting to get it.
So then I told him I was going to play the part of a “loving and caring government” and redistribute his $3 tip to someone that I deemed more in need------and I pointed out the window to the homeless guy outside, as I had decided he could use the money more. My waiter stood there in disbelief and angrily stormed away.
I went outside, gave the homeless guy $3 and told him to thank the waiter inside. The homeless guy looked at me in disbelief but seemed grateful.
As I got in my truck, I realized this rather unscientific redistribution experiment had left the homeless guy quite happy for the money he did
not earn. Oddly enough, the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he surely did earn. I guess he doesn't like the principle in action when it applies to him.
Well, I guess this "redistribution of wealth" is going to take a while to catch on, with those doing the work that is....
Well here is to spreading the wealth, one person at a time….

I've seen this story three
I've seen this story three times now, each version referencing a different restaurant, and slightly different dialog. Almost like a bad chain letter, except this story/anecdote is actually worth reading.
