Is anyone noticing higher prices?

I stopped at K-Mart today for a few things and decided to let my two boys pick out a small toy. I could NOT believe the prices! I think inflation has definitely arrived. The small cars that are normally $1 are now $2.14. Everything was just outrageous. Small puzzles were close to $12. Then I looked at kids shoes just for them to play outside in and the cheapest I found were $17. They used to be around $10-12. I didn't buy any.

Then I tried to order drapes at Penneys online and I typed in my order and it said 'low stock' and asked for my zip code and when I typed it in, their site crashed.

I've noticed less stock on the shelves in grocery stores lately too. Less selection and lower quantities.

I think things are starting to fall apart and it's becoming obvious.

I've noticed that too,

I am holding off buying some things and stocking up when there is a bargain.
Retailer's simply can't justify a lot of the mark ups I've seen, I'll hold out for a sale or until they get the hint...we ain't buyin it.

The DP is proof that the grassroots support for Ron Paul and his peaceful message of individual liberty is large, real, and not going away!

I stopped at ther Shell station and noticed

and noticed that unleaded I had been paying $4.09 for in July was a paltry $2.49.

As I buy 160 gallons a month for work the additional $240 a month will be spent elsewhere.

Just as soon as everyone assumes that we are all goners......that means we have hit the bottom.

Yes I never usually do but I did

the chocolate Rice Dream beverage I buy is now $2.89 per carton each at the grocery store -- it used to be $1.89 not too long ago!

I hardly bought any groceries, mostly fruit & it was almost $180!

I had a prescription for 1 Vicidin for dentist visit & they wanted to charge me $10 for 1 lousy pill! I said forget it.

Yes I just noticed all this Saturday. I never have before. It's freaking insane.

Yes indeed!

In and around Seattle.. I've been buying the same six things every Saturday for the last two months at the local Safeway just to see what kind of difference there would be.. $22.40 every time.. Last Saturday was a different story... it was $26.32. The biggest jump was a 2-liter bottle of pop.. It went from $1.29 to $1.99. I wandered into a 7-eleven today and scored a hell of a deal..only $3.49 for a soda and a candy bar! When I was a kid the same thing cost a quarter.

The funny thing is my nephew is a buyer for that Safeway and he says they aren't paying any more for their stuff than they did six months ago.

The money is going into corporate pockets for the time being.

Food prices are definitely

Food prices are definitely on the rise, despite the lower fuel costs. And fast food has become outrageous.

reading the replys on here...I'm starting to realize were over

its overall a good thing I guess,...people won't buy uselss crap anymore, and people will have to go back to living off the land. Thats what humans were intended to do anyway. If things get real bad, who is going to be able to afford cable television anymore? Tons of people will have to stop watching tv, so at least thats good

Grocery costs go up

about every week. But they try to be sneaky - a small can of tuna cat food used to be 33 cents. Now they have a sign up reading regular 50 cents, on sale this week for 45 cents. Same with Benecol spread that my husband uses to control cholesterol. It's always been $3.99, now $4.99. Store sign says regular $5.99, on sale for $4.99. They must think we're really stupid.

they do that here too and it really bugs me

it is as though they think we don't remember the price of things we have purchased for years or are easily fooled. I am also noticing the ever-shrinking package contents by weight on many things which is another (stealth) form of price hike.

I have noticed...

a few things. First, some stores are stocked excessively. Not sure why, but I know they haven't been so stocked in the past. One store had full shelves and someone stocking said they had a truck outside they still needed to unload. A few of the other stores have low inventory and are pulling product forward or actually arranging the floors to accomodate the lack in product. Prices have risen in at least one store we shop. In fact, one of the employees there said that they were in the process of changing all the prices. That was like 3 weeks ago or so.

I'm fighting back

Just stopped by the grocery store today.....Went in there all prepared: had matched up coupons with the store specials and made out like a bandit....Gotta love it when stuff is somewhere between 50%off and free!

Yes, it takes a little time & effort, but business is slow so I've got extra time now.

Pretty soon

we will buy a product and when we open it all we have is wrapper. LOL Sorry, your right I have noticed the same things. I have started going to garage sales and such. Now, that winter is around the corner no more garage sales. I'm making Christmas gifts this year.

$2.09 for gasoline

today in Houston. I heard it can be found for $1.99.

Yes prices are higher

I spoke to the local Ford dealers son last week, he does the ordering for the family owned dealership, he said there is no reason to order cause no one will buy. Dog food is up more than 50% here, etc. etc., I have had to raise my rental rates, and when I ordered carpet shampoo about 3 weeks ago it had gone up 300%. ( I paid 2.30 for it last time I bought and resold it for $6.35, still 3 bucks cheaper than wal-mart, when I reordered it cost me a little over $7.00, I now sell it for $9.35)

Also the Mexican restaurants, my wife and I could eat their for about 13 dollars and our son would be able to eat off of our plates, last time we went it was 21 dollars and there wasn't enough to feed him.
So yes you aren't the only one to notice prices rising.

Thank you Dr. Paul for making my act on what I already knew was right.

I haven't noticed any price

I haven't noticed any price increases here..in fact many prices are lower..we're getting excellent weekly sales at the grocer and our gas prices are down.

The clothing stores are having terrific sales on clothes and shoes..

I'm in ETexas.

I only notice it on my

I only notice it on my weekly trek to the grocery store. My gosh, you can barely get out of there with a full bag of groceries for under $100 and I don't buy fancy stuff!

Pat

BOHICA!!

Pat

BOHICA!!

Oh, wow. I haven't noticed

Oh, wow. I haven't noticed that yet here (Jackson, Michigan area), but I've mostly bought groceries, and there's been a bit of sales ($2.50-$2.75 gallon/milk, etc) in the past week or two. Gas was in the $2.60's last I noticed a couple days ago.

Wow $2.50 for milk??

Our milk is AT LEAST $4.99 a gallon, and we go thru 2-3 gallons a week.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention

All the items that are now packaged much smaller for the same or higher price. Cereal, chips, smoked sausage to name a few are all in much smaller packages now but the prices are the same or in many cases higher. At least beer has not gone up in price yet:)

Yeah...

...this has me going in the direction of bulk foods, granola cereal, oatmeal, the non-processed foods. They've either raised or kept prices the same while reducing the portions they are selling. Sneaky. I'll probably drop lunch meat, and most meat beside ground beef and chicken thighs / drumsticks. Eggs are good enough, along with fresh produce, rice, beans, and pastas.

Beer however....I'm trying to get the stuff together to brew, ferment, and distill various forms of alcohol. Love my beer! Easiest to start off making would probably ciders and wines.

Hunting will probably become popular as well, and then all you need is a smoker to make your own smoked meats and jerky. Yum.

Yes

I know there is much worse to come. That's why I keep trying to stock up on things that I know we will need long term. Just think what it's going to be like once all the bailout money and new stimulus packages go through.

I wish more people had listened to Ron Paul before things got so out of control.
