best thing that happened to me today
got a call from an old girlfriend. she started talkign politics, obama this and that b/c "she hates sarah palin" and if mclame croaks, she doesn't want palin to be prez.
i asked her about issues, of course she had no clue. So i came down on her pretty hard for a while, telling her that she is just like most americans endorsing the lesser of two evils and all caught up in the "i want to vote for the guy who wins" bullshit. Then we hung up and i felt like crap b/c if i can't influence those closest to me, what hope is there?
hours later i got this email:
Thanks for busting my balls today. I got off the phone and went to the library and purchased Revolution. I couldn't believe the truth in how most people do not know the real truth out there (including me). So I opened my eyes and realized I'm doing just what they want me to. Focus on the minor issues and/or not know the truth about any candidate. Also, Is revolution the only book Ron Paul has written, I didn't see anything else at bookstar. Thank God for the people who don't have a 9 to 5. If you have any recommended reading I would thank you.

see your thread is still making the rounds. I don't really care how long you've been here, glad your here. Don't know the verascity of your post, don't care, if it's true great. What I care about is you are trying to reach people, good. That is all we can do to make a real difference. One person at a time, keep chipping away. My co-worker has MS and is doing a mail in ballot. We have worked together for many years and she told me once she didn't like hearing the bad news of all the stuff going down, I respected and understood where she was coming from. However, yesterday she asked me about some propositions on the ballot because of the mumble jumble language and we looked to see if Chuck Baldwin was listed. I was thrilled she was taking such a keen interest and questioning the bs on msm news, esp one our socialist governor was trying to get people to vote down. She couldn't figure out why old Nappy was against freedom of health care choices, when I explained she was a socialist, she said, "oh that explains it". So just keep spreading the truth, doors will always open. Study hard so you can give good information.

I too am FINALLY able to share with Christian friends because it is getting so close to D-day (voting) - they are despairing at the lack of choices. I tell them to vote for Chuck Baldwin and they say, "Who?".

I had a similiar expirience yesterday, a client called me and I always try to go towards politics, in a non threatening way, sice its my buisness. Hes in the military and has been for a while. We got to talking and he said "the guy I really liked is Ron Paul" so I was able to talk to him about Baldwin, I think he will vote for him now, maybe even tell his friends. We are all doing a good job. I love hearing stories like this.

Great story:
I had a new neighbor move in just a few doors down and we got to talking about some things. The economy came up and that was my opening. I retrieved a copy of the Revolution for him. He had it finished by the next day and was asking me for other recommendations. I of course was very helpful in that area and he continues to learn what's really going on. He approached me yesterday and told me how he is getting all of his friends interested now and all I have to say it that the Revolution continues.

I had given my mailman a copy of _The Revolution A Manifesto_ a few months ago and he just dropped off a package to me today and said,
"Hi, just a few days until I write in Ron Paul. (all smiles) That book you gave me was great."
I was FLOORED! I haven't spoken to the man in at least 3 months (maybe more). I couldn't believe it. "Really?" I asked. "You're going to write him in?"
"Yup. Who else is there out there anyway? I'm sick of the politics and this guy is a straight shooter. I looked it up and write-ins count here in RI."
There are more of us out there than we realize!!!
That was my happy moment for the day and I thought I'd share it with you.

I feel really happy for you that you converted someone you know. It must be the greatest feeling. I've turned hundreds of people towards our ideas over the last two years, but never anybody I've known personally.
Everyday I try to chip away at my wife's socialist ideas. but it's a long slow process. It's like trying to thaw a wooly mammoth in a microwave :-) (sorry wifey, I still love you).

we divorced 4.5 years later, but not before i had totally converted her. in the end she spent time campaigning with me at OLFD in NH. it was a long hard slog to be sure, but last time i saw her we talked about how things are going to hell in a handbasket and she was telling me about all the time she's putting in at the shooting range!
for your wife, one thing that worked for me was getting my wife to ask the question, "what's this gonna cost, and who is gonna pay for it?"
I had a major breakthrough when i proved to her that it's not that "healthcare isn't available" for example, it's just that people don't want to pay for it. This happened when the desk clerk at kaiser told me that they don;t turn away the uninsured, and that the stitches i just got would have been 250 bucks, but instead it was only 25 plus my monthly 200 insurance premium.

yes..another horrid thing is that the government is in the Dr.'s office and hospitals like they are in banks. There is SO much regulation any more that it is very costly to deal with it. On top of "Big Pharma" doing all they can to raise prices on drugs and medical equipment and procedures. Socialized medicine makes the quality go DOWN, the waiting time go UP and the doctors to be many less.
ANYWAY, great post. There must be many more of us for any things to change.
